Written by: ShaeTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is never one to disappoint; this week was no exception. We start with a visit to The Hub. What's the Hub? It's kind of like their head quarters. Here the Team is given a mission. And by the Team, I mean, Agent Ward and Fitz. On a mission that's only classified for level 7, we find that a man like Ward and one like Fitz are needed to stop an all out war. The Overkill Device is a machine that has the potential to kill more than just a few people, and win a factoring country a war. Agent Hand makes an appearance to run this covert mission from the Hub, along side Agent Jasper Sitwell (also seen from the Marvel movie shorts!). The mission is simple; Ward and Fitz go in, Fitz deactivates the devices, they're extracted, and the compound is flattened to the ground by S.H.I.E.L.D. Easy? Never! Simmons is more than displeased with Fitz being sent out onto the field; as they're not field agents, but scientists. She helps him back, watches him go, and waits anxiously. She doesn't have to wait long, however, because Skye is always up for getting into trouble. This time, she brings Simmons with her. In an attempt to find out what's really going on with the mission, Skye and Simmons 'break into' the Hub, so to speak. Skye has Simmons place a USB drive into a computer panel. Along the way, they're interrupted by Sitwell. At first, Simmons tries everything to distract him, (she even flirts) before finally hitting him with taser thingy and effectively knocking him out. Skye has a few minutes to sneak into the files. She finds the one about her and thinks about digging further, before she goes into the other file about the current mission. As it turns out, there is no extraction plan for Fitz and Ward. They're on a suicide mission. Skye tells Coulson, who yells at her about snooping. Then he heads off to have words with Hand; who informs Coulson that Agent's Romanoff (Black Widow) and Barton (Hawkeye) never have extraction plans and they come out of missions just fine. On a side not, I'm totally needing out on the name dropping! Hopefully we get a future cameo of either agent? I wouldn't mind seeing Jeremy Renner reprise his role on the small screen! Meanwhile, Fitz and Ward are fairing….kind of well. Before they even reach the boarder they encounter some trouble. Wandering into a bar for supposed information from an old source ends up getting them captured and nearly killed. Fitz, however, saves them with a well placed EMP burst that shuts off the power in the bar. He ends up fixing everything again, gaining the trust of the people they're trying to get help from. Because of this, Fitz and Ward are able to sneak across the boarder…only, they're shot at, their ride is compromised, and their left in the middle of nowhere for some time. Eventually, they make it to the compound they're supposed to be at. They find the Overkill Device and set to work on getting it deactivated. In this time Ward has realized just what's going on; that they're on their own in getting out. It seems like he's going to talk Fitz into leaving early, so he can deactivate the device and give the scientist a head start. Fitz disagrees with this plan. He's "just as much an agent" as Ward is. They manage to turn the weapon into their favor before deactivating it and trying to get out. A wall of enemy soldiers with guns is waiting for them. Call in the Calvary! May, Coulson, Simmons, and Skye show up, in the plane, to save their butts. Soon, everyone's back on the plane, safe, sound, and happy. Almost happy. Coulson confronts Skye with the information he found out about her parents. He tells her that a female S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent dropped her off at an orphanage as a child, and that's all they found out so far. In truth, the agent in question was killed. Still unnamed and unsure if this was a mission related death, Coulson propositions Agent May to help him find out the full story. Afterwards, we see Coulson, alone, in his room, on the phone. Attempting to access a file on his time in Tahiti. He's then told he doesn't have the clearance level to access this information. Really!? What's going on with Phil!? What is so important that Fury has it marked a higher level clearance than Agent Phil Coulson's? Who's Skye's real parents? (I have a theory on this!) And, more importantly, when are Fitz and Simmons going to kiss already!? Come on, we all know they need to. Ah well. Next week we get to see what happened immediately after Thor: The Dark World!
