Written by: ShaeG.I.S.H.W.H.E.S. is as dauntingly awesome as it sounds. The name alone brings a sense of excitement, or confusion. For Supernatural fans it's something to look forward to. The Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen, is a pet project of Supernatural Star, Misha Collins. When he's not busy being Castiel, dabbling into the world of directing; the star can be found interacting with his fans, playing with his kids, and getting on with co-stars. Misha Collins started G.I.S.H.W.H.E.S. in September 20011, enticing fan's with a video of what was to come. His goal was break the Guinness Book of World Records for Worlds Biggest Digital Scavenger Hunt. To do this, a minimum of 500 teams were required. Misha's Minions, however, showed up with an astonishing 621 teams of 10 people. In it's first year, 6,200 people participated, breaking the world record. What does this amazing scavenger hunt include? Unconventional, but practical, uses of Mayonnaise; statues wearing sock monkey hats; Church choirs singing 'Eye of the Tiger'; a joust in the library; and the most notable, Random Act's of Kindness. Now in it's third year, G.I.S.H.W.H.E.S. is already under way. Participants are eagerly awaiting their lists. The prize? This year, the winning team get's an all expenses paid vacation to Canada, where they get to hang out with Misha and his family. There's mentions of a surprise, and a fish stew (which could be tasty if you're into fish!). The prizes change every year just like the lists. Randomness, crazy antics, strange requests, all made by one actor. But wait! How does a team prove they've done the things Misha has dictated? By video and pictures. Sometimes, only a picture is needed, other times, a video. Misha dictates what to do and how to prove it was done. All on a point system (which is added up! Boo math!) Of course, something this amazing is not free. The fee (or donations as they're called) required to join the event changes from year to year. This year, the base donations being requestioned was $19; however there was an option to only pay $10 if applicants were tight on cash and of course options to pay more for those willing to help cover someone else's entries, or just because. Part of the donations go towards the grand prize trips. While the rest goes to Misha's global charity, Random Acts. As no good deed goes unpunished, the event is not just competitive, but offers a chance for a lot of fun, the meeting of new people, and span's over several countries. All while serving a good cause. My thanks go out to you, Misha Collins, you're a genius and it's refreshing to me to see a celebrity using his powers for good.
