It is definitely safe to say, that the delightful new Freeform series, Chrissy & Dave Dine Out, has been quite the refreshing venture for audiences. Simply because, we’ve been privy to so many unique concepts not often seen in shows about dinner. For this series has helped us to really come to see celebrities as people, through impromptu interviews on the show, and we’ve come to learn a great deal about the passion that goes into making the food that’s been showcased and well, for its season one finale, it should come as no surprise that this series had more unique storytelling up its sleeve. For ‘Double the Fun’ did as its title promised, it offered us a double dose of dining with our intrepid hosts. Which allowed for a more intense round of celebrity interviews. Where we were once again able to hear about hopes, dreams, accomplishments, and setbacks. Once again allowing for some intimate moments and some supremely honesty ones, and these were of course welcome since they came forth from stars we don’t know a ton about from a personal standpoint. Such as Sasheer Zamata since she spoke about her experiences at SNL, and Randall Park and Alexandra Daddario had a lot to say about their former lives before stardom and perhaps where they might have ended up had they quit. But in between all of that… was an incredible double showcase of incredible restaurants. The first of which was a quaint and beautiful restaurant known as Meals by Genet. Where Chef Genet Agonafter makes some of the most amazing Ethiopian food you’ve ever seen, or likely tasted. Which was also made with love and stunning care. For Genet had no problem in this segment, getting her bare hands into a tartar dish known as Kitfo, to ensure that it was cooked and seasoned just right. So that everyone at the table would be blown away by its flavor profile, and it was just amazing to see Genet’s food on display and hear her incredible story. However, there was mention that two restaurants were showcased in this finale, and the second was one that belonged to one of the hosts of the show. For David had a stake in this restaurant and was now able to show friends old and new, his vision for dining at Majordomo, and that made for a unique evening for David. Because not only did he have to play host but play chef and educate his friends on what went into each dish, and why, and that allowed for us to garner better insight on David and his motivations for cooking, and how he won’t ever let Joel in the kitchen again. Since Joel finally made his chicken smoothie, and it was indeed as horrifying as all of us thought it would be. All of that aside however, this really did make, for quite the epic season finale. One that took the time to take us on an incredible dual dining experience through a pair of restaurants where passion and love reign supreme. Making this episode, a greatest hits reel if you will. Where we once again garnered amazing insight on what drives people to cook and how it truly ignites something special within, and of course… we learned a lot about people we admire and well, hopefully, this is a series that gets picked up for another season. Because it really is quite the delight and celebrates food and conversation and everything, we love about dining out in a special manner, and it was a true treat to come along with Chrissy and Dave this season and enjoy a genuine experience. Caution: This article contains spoilers for Episode 302 of ‘Resident Alien’. To revisit the Season Three Premiere, click here.
When we last settled into the world of Resident Alien, on SYFY, something wonderful occurred. In that, Harry had his bestie at his side regarding his quest to stop the Greys. For Asta Twelvetrees understood that Joseph was a great big lie of a man, or alien, and wanted to do whatever was necessary to help Harry stop Joseph, and the Greys, and save humanity. Giving rise to the birth of a coalition of heroes in this town, one that only continued to grow in the next episode of this magnificent series. For ‘The Upper Hand’ saw Harry make use of Asta’s promise to help, and that allowed for others to get involved in the good fight against evil. Which could not have come at a moment too soon. Simply because Joseph was making a point to flex up on Harry every chance that he could, and the threats were large and scary. Which prompted Harry to arrange another date between Asta and Joseph, all so he and D’Arcy could break into Joseph’s humble abode and see what they could learn about the plans of the Greys in the hopes of foiling them and of course… to get any dirt on Joseph to put a stop to him and well… this went about as well as one might expect. Simply because, it wasn’t long before a pizza related trap that Joseph set up for Harry, ensnared he and D’Arcy in a dangerous energy cell and of course… Joseph received an alert about this and knew exactly what was going on. In that, Asta was in on it, and was having dinner to keep him out of the house. So… that prompted him to offer more threats and posturing, in the hopes of having the upper hand in this situation. But alas, things did not go well for Joseph. In part because, Max made his way into Joseph’s apartment as part of his efforts to be the new tracker and impress his friends by showcasing a true alien before them. Which went differently than he expected since Harry didn’t show his true identity but did take the time to showcase the alien tech that trapped him and the home of an alien, which was enough to satisfy, and free he and D’Arcy. Which was a huge loss for Joseph, one that was further exacerbated by the fact that Asta had everyone backing her up and when the time was right… Joseph was put in his place, and she was safe. ![]()
Which in turn, allowed for a final showdown between Harry and Joseph to take place at Harry’s place. Wherein the great physical fight between two powerhouse aliens was handled in imagination. So as to not destroy Harry’s fine home, and to avoid having either man to listen to a repair tech that would just talk… way too much. Because then everyone would lose. Instead, Harry was able to broker surrender and a promise that Joseph would leave Patience, and while that didn’t get him the answers he wanted, and neither did his reconnaissance… what mattered most about this push to stand tall against a Grey, is that Harry and his friends did. They proved they could fight back and stop a nasty foe and that’s a huge deal that signaled growth and hinted at what these good people (and alien) are truly capable of, and this fight wasn’t a total loss regarding intelligence.
But more on that in a moment. Because there was still so much more for us to enjoy in this tale. Such as the fact Ben and Kate had some hard decisions to make about where to live. Because the house didn’t quite fit them anymore, because of the fact that strange things were hanging over them and it no longer felt right. So, they debated selling it, and moving on, which prompted Ben to search for new ways to raise capital to keep the house since he wasn’t keen on leaving just yet and thought adding a pool would help with that. Something Mike helped him out with, through a foot photo shoot, which made for one of the funniest and most philosophical moments of the night. But in the end, Kate came to realize leaving wasn’t a great idea, and that whatever was bothering them about the house could be resolved. Giving rise to peace, and oddly enough, that photo shoot, is what brought about the biggest win of all. Because Ben noticed a bump on his foot when going over the proofs for his Spicy Feet Pics. Which prompted him to see Harry for a quick exam and well, Harry came to realize… that was nothing short of a tracking device implanted under the skin. Which meant, with a little hypnotherapy and a deeper look at that device… Harry might have some answers at last. Giving him a foot up (or the upper hand if that pun is too much) over the Greys at last, which may satisfy the General… who is also making moves in the darkness. All of which made, for an amazing episode. One that was filled with action, adventure, big laughs, and progress for the plot and well… you can’t ask for much more than that from this delightful tale, because that’s everything we love about this show, and it will be fascinating to learn what Harry learns about the plan, come next week. Until then. Watch ‘Resident Alien’

Caution: This article contains spoilers for Episode 208 of ‘Night Court’. To revisit the previous episode, click here.
Something that we all hope for in this life, is a relaxed workplace. One where we don’t feel the oppressive weight of corporate culture and where human resources isn’t always breathing down our necks about compliance and behavior. Because we are adults, and while we do indeed have our moments, the majority of us conduct ourselves in a professional manner, a majority of the time. It would just be nice… to have a little fun with those we spend so much time with, and who knows if that will ever be the case. For work is work and there are always roadblocks to having what we really want, as evidenced by this week’s episode of Night Court on NBC. For ‘Taught and Bothered’ saw life in the courtroom going about like normal. After all, Gurgs and Olivia were living together for the moment while a murder investigation took place in Olivia’s building. And of course, Dan was being Dan and antagonizing Wyatt because that’s what the new guy was to receive in his eyes, and Abby was fine with it all. Because this was the courtroom she wanted for her work family, one that would give them joy and freedom and well… it did not take long for that to teeter on the edge of oblivion. All thanks to a man named Jake. Who caught Abby’s eye romantically and made it tough for her to make a romantic move, and enjoy work as she desired. Simply because, Jake was with the state, and he was part of the state’s human resources division, and he was on site to check in, make sure compliance was in play and that everyone felt good about their job and uh, well that went about as one might expect. Because he was mortified by the lines being crossed and the antagonizing that went on. For none of that was HR compliant in the slightest and any changes were met with amazing resistance from Abby. Because she really did believe that Night Court was a different animal altogether and required a different line of thinking, because of what it required from each person that took the time to be there until the wee hours of dawn. Which fell upon silence and ‘smile and defer’ as Jake liked to call it, and well… that prompted Abby to take matters into her own hands. Wherein she found ways to prevent Jake from trying to shatter what she had built, and where she sat everyone down to help them understand what they were building, away from the prying eyes of the corporate/regulatory side of things. Which brought about peace at last, and a unified front to finally have the life at work, this team wanted. And it was such a shock to Jake to be pushed back in this manner, that well… it allowed for a wild love affair between Abby and Jake to come to life, because that’s how things go in the world of Night Court. But that aside, this did make for one entertaining tale. One that basically, indulged the audience’s biggest hopes. Because corporate nonsense is at an all-time high right now, and we are all done with the madness. So, it was nice to escape into a fun and silly episode of television, where the the worker won. Complete with some amazing gags. Because the barbershop quartet thing to stick it to Wyatt was next level petty for Dan, and damn funny, as was how Abby managed to bring the group together, through illegal and dangerous coffee creamer. Not to mention, Ryan Hansen, this week’s guest star, was sublime as Jake. But what mattered most was the catharsis and the escape this episode provided, because that’s also what great comedy and television does for us, and it will be interesting to see if more moments such as these await us, as season two continues along. Until next time. Watch ‘Night Court’

Caution: This article contains spoilers for Episode Nine of ‘Extended Family’. To revisit the previous episode, click here.
It’s rare for a sitcom to revisit certain concepts, simply because… the structure of this type of show doesn’t really allow for it. For sitcoms deal with their respective scenario and offer any lessons available in a comedic light and move on. For there is so much more to explore and so much more to joke about, and if by chance…they do follow up… it often involves the return of a particular character, or a brief follow up. But that is why Extended Family on NBC continues to impress. For this particular show continues to defy convention and rules to bring us a sitcom unlike any other and for its next episode, it opted to return to an important concept regarding parenthood. Specifically… how our children perceive us at all times. Because kids are smart and kids are observant and they see what we do and emulate it, and if we go the wrong route… that’s bad news and more work is required to correct what they’ve learned, and earn back our credibility with them. Which was why Trey had to change his stance on fame in ‘The Consequences of Status’, and why Jim and Julia had to take some drastic measure in ‘The Consequences of Helping People’. For in this particular tale, Jim took Jimmy Jr. along for a meet and greet with some of his old friends, wherein they spoke Jim’s praises, especially when it came to helping out with getting one man’s daughter into the same fancy school that Grace currently attended. But there was just one problem. In that, Jim forgot to take care of that, so in a hurried and panicked rush, in front of his son, he asked Julia to make it happen. With some lies no less, and she did, in front of a client. Who quickly called her to the carpet and that put both Jim and Julia in a tough place. Where they realized, they set an awful example for their son and did wrong in general by using privilege and status to get that young lady into the school. Which prompted them, to arrange a meeting with that client through Trey, so they could… set things right and apologize. Because they expected better of their son and themselves, and doing this would show Jimmy Jr. to not cut corners and do things like this. To be honest, always, and that… made for a great follow up and a great lesson. One that really spoke to how important it is we carry ourselves at our absolute best around our kids, and if we cannot… we just need to set things right and explain why that’s important and that made for one amazing tale. One that also featured, another amazing moment. For while this was going on, Grace and Bobby were out thrifting, and an old memory came up for Bobby. Specifically, the one that got away. Which prompted him to reflect upon his life and speak to how while happy he was with the outcome of his life, because he loved his family, he always wondered what it would have been like to be with that crush. Who had such a profound impact upon his choices and well… Grace was kind enough… to reunite them and maybe give Bobby that chance. Which was just a beautiful storyline to see play out, one that spoke to Grace’s maturity since she understood grandad’s angle and curiosity, and it also reminded us… that family should always go the extra mile to help family find peace and resolution. Because all we have is one another, so why not be better and go that route when it is available? All of which made, for another heartwarming story. One that truly did defy convention by bringing back an important lesson to remind us of how flawed we will forever be and how hard it is to walk the straight and narrow. But for our family… we will find a way, and you simply cannot go wrong with a show that offers that kind of humanity and honesty. Until next time. Watch ‘Extended Family’

Caution: This article contains spoilers for the Season Two Finale of ‘Quantum Leap’. To revisit the previous episode, click here.
Ask anyone what they think goes into creating a hero in fiction or in real life, and you’ll get back some similar answers. Such as how the hero must be brave in this life, and fearless, and be a champion for good, and those are indeed quality traits for a hero to have. After all, they will face incredible odds and difficult challenges that would break those with an ounce of fear in their souls. But what’s fascinating about how we view a hero, is that we often forget to think about the two most important aspects that go into it, the ones that truly separate them from the norm. In that, they also need to be selfless and infallible, because purity and sacrifice… teach us so much. If anything, the definition of heroism is important to our discussion today, because we saw those more important aspects be put on display in the season two finale of Quantum Leap on NBC, and with good reason. For the program was threatened like never before in ‘As the World Burns’ and ‘Against Time’, prompting real heroes to rise up to make things right and it brought us to that point by having two important jumps take place for Ben. One of which, saw him play the role of a firefighter that had to not only save Hannah and her son, but the lives of so many. And Ben also leapt into the body of a son that had to go the extra mile to save his racecar driver of a father. Which at first glance don’t seem all that problematic, but it was the reveals that came forth during those plot threads that brought about trouble, through surprise. Such as the fact that we learned that Hannah was the one responsible for writing the DARPA code, and she was able to finish the equation in front of Ian and Jenn. Giving Ian the chance to finally figure out how to bring Ben home, before having that chance robbed from them. Because in the wake of Magic’s resignation, Gideon took over the facility and kicked everyone out, simply because… Gideon had a secret. In that, he really wasn’t Gideon. He was Jeremy, Hannah’s son, and he knew Ben’s big secret. ![]()
In fact, that secret broke Jeremy, to the point where he reinvented himself and used solid investment advice to build his empire. All so, he could use the code to switch places with Ben and shape the future to his liking. Where perhaps his father didn’t die on that fateful night and where other world events could be avoided and well… that put Ben and the team in quite the bind. One where old friends had to step in to try and foil this plan. By bringing the old Ziggy device and chamber online, so Addison could reach Ben and inform him that if he stopped Jeremy in this next jump… he could save Quantum Leap and end Jeremy’s evil machinations in the process and well… that is where this series brought its grand examination of heroism to fruition.
Because to pull this off, sacrifice would be necessary. After all, the timeline was likely going to change since a paradox would come into play, and folks back home were ready to endure big changes if it meant a better future, and they surmised the quickest way to stop Jeremy would be to destroy the machine that would make him famous. Which didn’t sit right with Ben. Because it would be darkness begetting more darkness. So, he tried a new path. One where he showcased what he actually does, what he risks with every leap. Simply because he wanted to inspire Jeremy to understand what helping others can do for us, and who we become when we risk everything for strangers and well… that… changed everything for the better. Wherein Jeremy took inspiration from his new hero, one that sacrificed so much and inspired others to be better… to be a hero himself and save lives and even keep Quantum Leap running. Giving rise to a timeline that was a little kinder, and a littler gentler and the inspiration didn’t end there. Since Addison was ready to offer up her own sacrifice to help Ben. By switching places for a bit, a move that offered up a vastly different twist than we expected. One that will make another season of this show quite groundbreaking in nature. But before we ponder upon that, we can celebrate one amazing finale. One that really showcased what it really means to be a hero and how we all can become one. For Dr. Ben Song went from wayward traveler to hero before our eyes in this story, in a way that wrapped up so many lingering plot threads in a brilliant manner and hopefully, we do indeed get more of this show, to see how Ben and Addison handle traveling through time, together. Caution: This article contains spoilers for the Series Premiere of ‘Constellation’.
We are taught often in this life, that disasters and brushes with death, are nothing short of miracles that we should embrace. For they teach us about mortality, and the gift that we’ve been given that is our very lives and our very souls. So, we should indeed be thankful for them and thankful they opened our eyes to how fragile life can be. Which are not terrible thoughts or beliefs, for we should find the good in the bad things that happen to us and learn from them as best we can. But alas, there is some concern that should come about from such a fascinating series of lessons. In that, we really don’t think that way until long after we’ve had to time to reflect upon the disaster or brush at hand. Which means that in the moment, as we are dealing with the world falling down around us or pondering upon whether or not we will be here tomorrow… we are terrified, we are anxious and in the immediate wake of such acts, we are not the same person. We’re worried, clouded, and simply a shell of who we used to be because of what we just faced down and nearly embraced and that… really does need to be recognized more often and handled differently than just telling folks, hey… you made it, be grateful. So that folks who go through that hell, can heal, and can find focus and gravity once again and really, this is top of mind today, simply because how we handle disaster is put on display in the new Apple TV+ series, Constellation. A feat that the show’s three-episode premiere accomplishes by putting an astronaut named Jo, through the absolute wringer. For in ‘The Wounded Angel’, ‘Live and Let Die’, and ‘Somewhere in Space Hangs My Heart’, Jo deals with a disaster aboard the International Space Station. One where she watches co-workers die, and where she is tasked with escaping to Earth of her own volition when the rest of the crew is forced to abandon station. Which thankfully, she does… but she is not the same. ![]()
For she has much weighing upon her when she gets back to terra firma. Such as the fact, that not everyone survived, that she struggled with her own mental health in that crisis and may or may not have seen something sinister in space. Not to mention, she has to battle the fact that in many ways, Magnus, her former partner and their daughter, Alice, were prepped for her end. Giving rise to a traumatic reunion grounded in reality. Where there is nothing but shock and that long processing process, one where support is nil and where worry and remorse persists. Giving rise to an accurate look of how we truly survive that moment and how hard it is to find the good right after. Not to mention, how things end here in that regard, sets the stage for a long road back for Jo, one that she may not recover from.
Simply because… this particular science fiction series… is also filled with some unique surprises. The kind that hint, at something bigger here plot wise. After all, there is the matter of Jo’s potential hallucinations aboard the ISS and when she returns to Earth. Giving rise to questions regarding… whether or not we are fundamentally changed from a mental health standpoint when we brush with disaster. In fact, there are grand hints that Jo may be suffering from a complete break, down the line. Since there are segments here that ponder upon her need to save a second Alice that simply cannot exist, and oddly, Alice is not alone in such strange matters, thanks to a scientist/former astronaut named Henry. Who also seems to struggle with what he is seeing in this life and sometimes takes a moment to ponder what is going on. And their struggles are oft pushed aside by others. Leaving us to wonder if there is something more to space travel in this story that others seem to know about or if we really are dealing with a pair of heroes that will forever struggle to process the lesson that we expect people who brush with death to learn. All of which, compels us to continue this refreshing science fiction journey. One grounded in old-school sci-fi concepts and writing, since this is the kind of stuff that we all read growing up, when we fell in love with the genre outside of schoolwork and truly, it will be interesting to see where this interpersonal mystery takes us in the weeks to come… as this engaging and delightfully human story continues along. Until next time. To learn more about this series, visit our interviews with Series Creator Peter Harness and Executive Producer Michelle MacLaren, and Actors William Catlett and James D’Arcy. Caution: This article contains spoilers for Episode Five of ‘The Irrational.’ To revisit the previous episode, click here.
One particular aspect of the human condition that is downright fascinating, is how people tend to take what they learn about our behavior and adapt it for their own uses... in a negative manner no less. Which is fascinating because one would think that having incredible knowledge about humanity would enlighten us and make us strive to be better people, the kind who offer that knowledge as an attempt to pay it forward. But there is something about the allure of knowing what others don’t, and enjoying those spoils, that pushes folks to use that knowledge for nefarious purposes. But the good news is, not all is lost when people go that route. For they can find their way back when that knowledge goes the wayside, as evidenced by the next episode of The Irrational on NBC. For ‘Lucky Charms’ saw Alec and his intrepid team, head to Las Vegas to help out the former research assistant for Alec, a woman named Camille. Who flat out, decided to take all that she learned about human behavior and apply it in the real world, and well… she enjoyed great spoils because of it. For she was able to use her skills as a poker player, combined with the skill set she learned in her time with Alec, to basically make a killing. One where she eventually lost herself and her understanding of human behavior in the heat of the moment, and that put her in a tough place. Where she needed Alec’s help. For she was down big with a loan shark and needed to win a critical tournament to save her hide and there was a roadblock in making that happen. Because someone, was helping a mediocre player cheat to win, and she simply had to know who or why. Which Alec and his team were able to ascertain, was the head of the tournament. For she wanted nothing more than to control the narrative and potentially create a thrilling show of her own design. But she cheated plan and simple, and didn’t give Camille a chance to win honestly, which she eventually did. But what mattered more here, was the sheer fact that this was a fine lesson… in how people do take advantage about what they learn about the human condition. Because it’s powerful to know how people think and act, and game the system accordingly, and that can confuse us as easily as anything else and lead to trouble. So, it’s best… we always take what we learn and use it for good. However, while that segment alone would have been enough to carry this episode from beginning to end, since we also got to see Phoebe and Rizwan let loose and indulge in that Sin City Lifestyle for a brief moment, there was still the matter of the bomber case. Which Marisa handled back home in an epic manner. Because there were clues in front of her at last, and we quickly learned here… you don’t cross Marisa in matters of truth. Because she leaned hard on the man that made the secondary logo used on the getaway van when the church exploded, to the point where he cracked in fear. But it did net her a lead, one that sadly… went nowhere in the end. Just because, someone knows that the FBI is making progress on this age-old case, and they don’t want to be caught, and that’s why… they dropped the only witness available to the FBI. In the end, all of these elements made… for one refreshing story. Simply because we are only five episodes in, and this series has now showcased how diverse its storytelling can be. Since we enjoyed a refreshing take on the core concept of the show, in a manner that was entertaining and educational for the audience. And we were even privy to a road trip for the ages, alongside… some serious progress on the case, and a grand understanding of how good Marisa is at her job. Because wow, she made magic happen, and all of this made… for one entertaining and intelligent hour of television. One that also leaves us hungry for more. So, we can see what other refreshing stories await us. Until next time. Watch ‘The Irrational’

It is definitely safe to say, that the majority of humanity has a pretty baseline view of how justice is served in our world. Because we believe in our system and we believe that following it to a tee gets people harmed by criminals the best chance at peace and closure, and a sense of real justice. But that is a worldview that eventually changes for a lot of us. When we come to realize how flawed the system can be, and how sometimes… serving up justice can absolutely upend a world through and through. Especially when a group of people are involved in a nasty crime and their capture can and will destabilize a way of life. Which means that in some cases, justice has to be handled differently, so that lives aren’t torn asunder and well, that unique aspect of justice is top of mind today, because it showed up in the season three premiere of The Madame Blanc Mysteries on Acorn TV. For ‘Ocean’ featured quite the unique case for Jean take part in. For this go round, a group of divers that were eager to conduct a survey in the name of science, saw their expedition end in both tragedy and surprise. For they lost one of their own and they also discovered a rare coin that would produce quite the bounty and well… considering the circumstances in which one of the parties, died… Jean was quickly forced into action. Because all evidence pointed to foul play, and well… as Jean dug in… she came to uncover some unsettling facts. In that, she was dealing with treasure hunters who wanted those rare coins, and they were also dealing with a killer… that put a person down in the name of saving the environment. For it turned out that the deceased’s fellow pirates were not responsible for his end, but a local who worked on the docks and did this… so the treasure would stay a secret. Since its discovery would up end the eco system and the way of life in this town. Which meant… everyone was at a crossroads. Wherein they could follow the letter of the law and let the city come under fire for this discovery… or bend the rules a bit and bring about peace. The latter of which, is the route that Caron took. By having the guilty confess to murder for undoubtedly different reasons before forgetting the treasure in a manner that would raise no suspicion. Keeping this town safe from being plundered or dug into, while reinforcing the fact that sometimes… justice is handled in a greyer manner than we might like. But it is necessity when livelihood is involved and that made, for one powerful premiere. One that added new depth to the characters and the town they love, while affirming that particular theme and the wonder of this story didn’t end there. Since there were also some moments of growth involving Gloria. Because her father and his old ways caused her trouble in her new relationship, and because of that… she stood up to her dad. Put him in his place and prompted him to get an idea, albeit briefly, of what life would be life if he kept disrespecting his daughter. Which took some guts on her part and added to the depth and humanity of the story. In fact, if this episode is any indicator of things to come, it would seem that season three of this show is going to focus heavily on the humanity of these characters and their lives, underneath the umbrella of mystery and well… that’s just fine. Because we love these characters, we love the cases, and blending those two elements together will make for a unique cozy mystery. One that will captivate and connect, and it will be interesting to see what other fascinating stories await us at season three continues along. Until next time. Watch ‘The Madame Blanc Mysteries’
