Written by ScottyOne of the things I love about making new friends is being given a little bit of insight to where they are from. Sometimes when meeting the family, you get a great idea of who your new friend will be in the following years, but for me, it is seeing where they grew up. A person’s childhood house has more character than you can imagine. You know that saying, ‘if walls could talk?’ it does hold a ton of meaning when you are actually able to understand what they are telling you. As Matt Murdock is trying to recover from the battle with his old teacher, he is still trying to find out more about what is happening behind the curtain of Hell’s Kitchen. Knowing that Wilson Fisk is behind whatever the master plan is, Matt has to find a way to bring the powerhouse into the public eye. While Foggy and Karen are having their own issues, trying to tie together the loose pieces of Union Allied, Matt gets sucked into the intrigue and starts feeding a bit of his own research to the team. Knowing more than his friends do about what is happening around the city, he is able to give them a little push in the right direction. Wilson Fisk is having more problems than the man in the back mask as his business relationships are falling apart. After gang leader Nobu’s cargo was compromised at the docks, the triad wants to renegotiate his deal with him. Fisk does not want to back down from any of the threats that are being thrown towards him, but needs help to regain control over the situation. With help from his longtime friend James Wesley, Fisk will be back to his old self in no time, but when his mind starts to wander, all of his fears go away. Needing to break his friend out of the funk he is in, Wesley brings Fisk a visitor that might be able to change the man’s mind about what is happening and how to deal with it. Matt Murdock has taken back to the streets and wants to get answers as soon as possible. With everyone in the city thinking that he is a cop killer and set off all of the bombs that eliminated the Russian mob, he will have to tread lightly. Hearing that one of the officers that was shot is going to be ok, Murdock decides to visit the hospital and be the one who the crooked cop talks to. But to his surprise, the officer's partner shows up and finishes the job that no one else could do. Subduing the cop, Murdock is talks to the now dying officer and gets more valuable information about Fisk and the operation that has been hidden from the public. Finding Ben Urich, Murdock relies the information to the old reporter with hopes it will bring the most powerful man in Hell’s Kitchen out and let the people see who he really is. But Wilson Fisk has a different idea and takes matters into his own hands. Now on to what this episode was really focusing on. This was a Wilson Fisk episode with no doubt. Looking back at the man’s past in the city with a loving mother and abusive father. Thinking that he was learning how to be a man from his pop, Bill Fisk, Wilson found out how to survive and get people to leave you alone. Bill had his boy learn what it means to be a man and not let anyone take advantage of him, no matter what. Beating the heck out of a neighborhood boy, Wilson knows he has the power to protect himself, but when his father started to beat his wife once again, Wilson has had enough and decides to stop it the way his father taught him. Telling this story to his girlfriend Vanessa, Wilson does not ask for forgiveness, just understanding of what he is trying to do with his old city. With so many people finding his hidden fortress, Wilson knows that he will have to be seen by the public before someone else places his head a pedestal. Although this was a slow episode, it did not lack in story, much less emotions. Watching the terrors that Fisk has to go through on an everyday basis, it makes him more human that he would care to be. I am ok with this, but I will admit that the flashbacks are getting a little old these days and that is something that killed my love for another show. Really though I do like getting to know your villain and why he is who he is. Although the information will not be shared with Murdock or anyone else that will be able to use it against him, I am sure the Fisk wishes that none of it ever happened in the first place. The pages just keep opening and you learn something new every show. I don’t want it to end, I really wish it was an ongoing show with a ton of episodes, but alas, it will do so shortly and I will have to find something new to get caught up in.

I must admit that I am a little bit out of my element when trying to find the perfect gift for my mother, especially on Mother’s Day. It is difficult for me to come out with something that she does not have or need since she loves to read and I always get her a gift card to a book store and tell her to go nuts. I know I am not the only one that has these problems and let me try to help out with some quick and easy gift ideas I have found on ThinkGeek.com. Yes, it is only from one website, I am a guy and if I can’t find everything I need in one place, I will not buy anything at all. So here we go. All mothers enjoy getting flowers for any occasion, but one thing that happens to them, is that they welt. This will not be a problem if you get her the 8-Bit Flower Bouquet. With pixelated 8-Bit flowers and a stand, her flowers will never wilt and never die. There is nothing better than showing your mother how much you love her on her special day than giving her flowers that will last a lifetime for an unbeatable $9.99. If mom likes to stay warm when getting out of the shower, or just even lounging around the house, the Chewbacca Ladies Robe might be the perfect gift. Being as soft and comfy as wearing a dead tauntaun, mom will have no problems unleashing her inner Wookiee while walking around the house. Just make sure not to take the jokes too far, as Wookiees are known to pull peoples arms out of their sockets when being made upset. With a starting price of $59.99, there is a great deal though the end of the week for $47.99 for this Star Wars collectible. Let’s just say that mom’s legs have been known to get cold, so how about a pair of Jersey Lounge pants? With designs from our favorite heroes, these lounge pants are far from just being for guys. Being able to get more done around the house without the pesky draft sneaking up, there is nothing better than a pair of lounge pants to keep everyone in check and comfortable. With a starting price of $19.99, these are on sale for $14.99 this week and would be the perfect piece of apparel to buy without getting into too much trouble. If you are not comfortable with buying clothes for your mother, no matter, there is something that every mother needs, a huge throw blanket. With the Doctor Who TARDS Throw Blanket, you are guaranteed to make her day when she is looking for a nice relaxing night on the couch and being 50x84”, it is really bigger on the inside. With a great price of $24.99, it is difficult to pass this up and there will never be any complaints, unless of course she is transported to a different time while watching her favorite show. Is your mother a queen? Why not treat her as one with the Game of Thrones Dragonclaw Goblet Replica. With everything that is happening in and around her life, mom should always be treated with the upmost respect of a queen, and now you can show her how much you care. Without having to be in King's Landing, she will be able to drink her beverages in style without at care in the world. I cannot believe the price of $29.99 is all for this fantastic relic to make your mother know how royal and perfect she has been to you. Moms love to celebrate how perfect and lovely their family is and why not show it on the car. The Star Wars Family Car Decals is the perfect way to highlight the family, along with how much fun the family really is. With two different sets of decals, mom will be able to show her love for each family member, or even distrust when given her choice. With either the Original set of characters or the Scum and Villainy Booster Pack, the choice will be left up to her. It is $11.99 for each pack of decals individually, or $19.99 for purchasing both packs together. And do not forget the prize of any mother’s collection, How to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse When Your Son Wants to Eat You. Although this is not on the ThinkGeek website, it is a book that every mother needs when Z-Day hits. With a list of weapons to fight off your son, along with tactics that will keep you off of the dinner menu, it is a must have for every mother's library. Without a firm starting price, it may be worth it to give the woman who gave birth to you a fighting chance, if for no other reason to show her that you love her. Well there it is. My Geeky Gifts for Mother’s Day ideas. I hope it helps you get an idea for the woman that brought you into this world. I know what is topping off my list, but that is just me and even though I give her tons of grief, I hope that she knows how much I love her. I would like to wish every mother out there a safe and Happy Mother’s Day! Written by John Edward BetancourtTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...It has been, for the most part, a pretty dark and ugly season for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. when you look back at it. We've seen some agents fall, seen some crazy stuff go down and I thought that maybe, after last week's Age of Ultron lead in that perhaps this week would be just a little different. After all, the Avengers saved the world and S.H.I.E.L.D. did its part in helping out with that, go team! But that was not the case since "Scars" decided to keep the twists and turns coming and left us with another shocker of an ending. Now, as for the Age of Ultron, the tie ins continued this week, loved everyone watching the news coverage about the Sokovia incident and of course you cannot go wrong with more Patton Oswalt and a better understanding behind Theta Protocol and exactly how Nick Fury managed to get his hands on a Helicarrier. But the feel good Avengers moments ended with that, because it was right back down to business for S.H.I.E.L.D. and what was to be done with the Inhumans. In fact, it turns out the cargo on Gonzales' carrier that has been hinted at for weeks is another powerful Diviner, and of course we only discover this fact because Raina had another vision and needs to see the device, and has Gordon teleport her aboard the ship. Our intrepid spies aren't too happy with this surprise incursion and the plan is set in motion to sit down with this unique group of beings and see if by chance peace can be made. Yet, Raina believes her visions are telling her there will be no peace. In fact, she makes a power play, telling Gordon she should be the one to speak with S.H.I.E.L.D. rather than Skye's mother. It leads to her being kept out of the way for this grand event and the one man who should have spoken with the Inhumans, Coulson, is asked to stay home, with Gonzales going in his place. Turns out Coulson has formed a council of his own to keep himself in check and well, they feel he is too close to Skye on this one to be objective. In the end, that's one hell of a mistake to make on the council's part...as the twist I mentioned came to bear in the final moments, since Skye's mother is not the benevolent leader she has painted herself out to be. She clearly wants revenge for all the things that have happened to her and her people...by killing Gonzales and making it look like he attacked her before declaring "this is war". Oh and not to mention, Kara, a.k.a. Agent 33 has captured Bobbi and returned her to Ward who clearly is not as reformed as we thought him to be last week, and they have more plans for revenge. Plus Mack quit...so holy hell. In fact this week left me with more questions than answers as we head into the season two finale. For starters, how long has Jiaying been planning this war with humanity? Because man...she has sold the audience well on peace since we met her. Is Raina really evil after all? Because that's been in question for a long time and I can't tell if this was a legit power play or if her visions are real and last...what the hell do the Devlish Duo of Ward and 33 have planned for Bobbi? Either way, looks like we are set up for one explosive season finale, I can't wait to see what the show has in store for us. Until next week. Written by ShaeTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...Last week on Gotham, everyone died. Just kidding! Instead, Gordon and Bullock continued their search for their serial killer, and Bruce decided to sneak into places he shouldn’t, while Lee is adorably accepting of everything, and Nygma got rid of a body. Wow, that actually summed things up pretty nicely, right? Said Serial killer has his hands on Barbara, whom may have spent the night with him doing really adulty things. It’s the next morning, though, and she’s got things to do and what not. He’s not willing to let her leave though. I suppose he might actually have a shot at them being together if he wasn’t a clingy murdering psychopath. She tries to get away, tries to scream, but ends up in his room of…adulty things, hanging from the ceiling. He shows her the girls he’d met before her, and gotten rid of. It seems he wants her to fully accept who he is. He really believes they can be happy together, and she’s not willing to give in…yet. Jim and Harvey track down a lead. Seems this guy liked to frequent a brothel of sorts, but the places moves venues as often as possible, as not to be caught. They get an in, somehow….okay, Jim gets an invite from the Penguin, who he totally threatened and now owes a big favor to. Why? Because Jim isn’t always smart. Bullock goes there, undercover, and ends up busting the place and getting as many people wrangled up as possible. When they speak to the mistress, they finally get to a girl who first met the serial killer. She’d been kidnapped by him years ago, and held, but he eventually let her go. She tried going to the police, but nobody gave a crap because she was a whore and he was a wealthy person of status. With a lead, they head to the guys apartment. Only, he’s not there. Where could he be? Seems he’s finally getting to Barbara, because they head to her parents place. Being locked up and mentally tormented might create a bit of Stockholm syndrome. She watches as the man kills her parents. Jim and Harvey get there not too long after, and it’s a bit of a scuffle before the guy ends up dead. Jim assures Barbara that she’s safe now, but is she really? She might be broken beyond repair…after all, she was somewhat okay with her parents being murdered. Speaking of murder! Nygma is busy getting rid of the evidence of his….breakdown? He snapped and killed Kringle's abusive cop squeeze. He even fakes a letter from the dead guy and sends it to her…she’s heart broken and miffed, while Nygma is already playing games, since the first letters of each sentence on the letter he sent her spell out his name. And Penguin is busy sending a guy to kill Maroni in the name of Don Falcone. That seems to be going well, right? Not really, said assassin gets killed, and his head is sent in a box to Falcone personally, before Maroni has his men attack several of Falcone’s businesses. Guess they’re no longer mob-friends…but, you know, these things tend to happen from time to time, right? Penguin may be a criminal mastermind when it comes to backstabbing the various men in his pocket. Just like the people that work on the board of Wayne Enterprises. The only good thing that comes from Bruce’s attempt to get his files back, is that he meets Lucius Fox. Lucius tells Bruce that his father was a good man. The board member who had his files stolen and inevitably got Reggie killed, says otherwise. Was Thomas Wayne really going along with the dirty dealings of the company? Or was he up to something else… Written by ShaeTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...Let’s talk about this for a moment, shall we? Because, really, what just happened!? With Regina and Robin talking in the bar, I honestly thought that they were going to break up or something, but then everyone piles in the cars and heads to StoryBrooke. With Emma still pissed at Snow and Charming, it’s a little disconcerting, but she never turned dark. I’m fairly certain she’s incapable of doing that at this point, but, you know, whatevers. Lily, on the other hand, seems a little underwhelmed with meeting her mom. I honestly felt so bad for Maleficent when Lily was going to leave. I wasn’t sure I’d like Maleficent in this series, but really? She’s kind of a sweet heart. She’s amazing and deserves to be happy. Her outlook on Lily wanting revenge made me tear up. While Lily wants Snow and Charming to suffer, Maleficent wants to get to know her…that’s all. It’s so sweet it hurts. Of course, Lily decides she doesn’t want that and leaves. When Maleficent showed up at Charming and Snow’s house to talk, to ask for advice? I might have aw’ed a bit. Mortal enemies brought together by something as endearing as motherhood? Without question Snow and Charming head out to help the dragon. Regina, on the other hand, is taking the author into her own hands. Gold is dying, and Regina isn’t about to help. She takes Isaac and then goes to Lily. Why? Because the savior's darkness resides in her, so really, if she gets her angry enough and steals her blood, the ink can be made and she can have what she truly wants, her happy ending. This entire time, Regina has been searching for things to make her happy. Her mother took that away by killing her true love, or so they thought. Still, in the past, Cora tried to make things ‘better’. She tried hooking Regina up with the Sheriff of Nottingham. Why? So Regina would have children and have a bloodline to stop Snow from taking over the kingdom. Simple, and possibly caring? No, Cora really wanted to kill off Regina and be the major influence in the child’s life…or so Regina thinks. This causes Regina to make a drastic decision; which answers a question that has bothered me for many seasons now. A potion takes away Regina’s ability to have children…it hurts Cora, and above all, hurts Regina too. But, that’s all right, because she has a son, Henry. Zelena being pregnant nearly pushes Regina to make a horrible choice. She was going to have the Author write Zelena out of their lives for good, but at the last second decides not to do that…their mother was horrible, and it’s not them against each other anymore. Instead of finding her happy ending in Robin, Regina chooses to find it in herself. She decides not to do anything with Zelena, and instead, leaves. She’s accepting who she is and choosing to feel at home in the world… Lily, on the other hand is off on a rampage as a Dragon. When Snow, Maleficent, and Charming find her, she’s a little out of control. Snow receives a nasty smack to the head, and Maleficent runs off to chase after her daughter. Lily finally calms down enough to turn normal, and the two sit. Maleficent finally breaks down those walls Lily has up so tightly. She’s afraid of ruining anything, of pushing Maleficent to disappointment. Maleficent convinces her to stay a week and that no matter what, she loves her. Lily concedes on staying, and a relationship may be blooming between the two. It must be going around because Emma heals Snow and finally makes amends. She doesn’t want to hurt herself or them by not talking to them. She’s hurt, but the past is in the past and Snow and Charming have done nothing but try to make up for everything. Isaac isn’t pleased with being yanked around, but he has his ink, so he goes back to Rumple, and that’s where the show ends. Next week is a finale that is two hours long and sure to answer all the questions we have had…or it may leave us with massive cliff hangers, because you know, that’s what this show does sometimes. It yanks your feels around. Written by ScottyTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...There are always people we look up to when growing up and in a roundabout way, they help us become the person we are today. It does not matter if they were good people or bad, their influence puts an impression on our mind of who we should or should not be. Hoping to be the person we want to be when growing up, we are forced to look back and make sure we are following the actions of those before us, so we can learn and be the best that we can. Even with this being said, there are plenty of things that we can continue to learn about being our own individual person, rather than blending in with the mobs that roam the streets. Foggy is fed up with what is happening to his city. After the town exploded, Foggy wants to take a shot at the man in black and give him a piece of his mind. Although Karen does not agree with this, she has to back her friend, as she still does not know who the man is, or what he is fighting for. Matt is forced to remain quiet about the situation and just tell his legal mates to stay calm and let the police figure out what needs to be done, but he has to find a way to clear his name in the meantime. Foggy is left on his own for the night as Karen has something that she needs to do and Matt needs to go clear his head from his recent breakup, so Foggy finds his own path. Karen goes and meets with Ben Urich again with all of the information that she has found on her former employer. Not being able to put all of the pieces together since the company has been broken up into several different pieces now, she will have to look harder. Visiting Ms. Cardenas again, Karen hopes to get more information from her client about who the men were that tore her apartment up and find something the connects them to Union Allied. With small clues, Karen is confident that she will be able to get the information to Urich and have some sort of story put together, but the heathens in Hell’s Kitchen are not resting as they put Karen in a tough place and her only hope of escape falls on Foggy once again. Matt is also looking for information, but his target is higher up the totem pole in the form of Leland Owlsley. With the information he was able to get from the Russians, Owlsley controls all of the money for Fisk and knows everything that is happening in the Kitchen. Before Matt is able to get what he wants from the old man, he hears an old sound that reminds him of the past. Stick, his old mentor is back in town and Matt needs to find out why. Wanting to help his old teacher out, Matt is recruited to go down to the docks and stop a shipment from reaching the Kitchen. But Stick is not very forthcoming with what his mission really is and the old man fights by his own rules and he is prepared to leave a trail of bodies if anyone gets in his way. Now the brunt of this episode takes place in the past as young Matt Murdock is in an orphanage fighting to stay sane with his new power set. Stick does not let the young man take a breath and makes sure that he understands how unwilling the world is to accept him. Training the boy, Stick is ready to take it to the next level, but Matt is still missing his father and needs one back in his life. Thinking that Stick is the man for the job, Matt is ashamed to find out that he is not and with his mentor moving on for some twenty years, Matt is faced with the decision of what to do when he comes back. Wanting to trust the old man, Matt knows that there is a more sinister side to him, especially when Stick asks how many people he has killed while protecting the city. Not willing to take his form of protecting the city to the next step, Matt and Stick have a showdown that defies the ages as they are both at the top of their games. Just another piece of the origin story for Matt Murdock as you get to see where he has learned all of his fantastic fighting moves. Stick is a relentless character that will stop at nothing to get the job done and continues to talk about the upcoming war that the two will have to face. I like that there is no remorse between the two men when they meet again, even though Matt seems upset. With both men wanting to protect the city from whatever is coming next, Matt is not willing to hand over the job to his bloodthirsty mentor. Foggy once again surprises everyone with his ability to protect the innocent as well, at least Karen. I cannot wait to see what comes up next as Fisk has to be getting fed up with everyone coming after him, along with his streets not being any safer from the man in black. Written by ScottyTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...Being wrongfully accused of something that you did not do seems to happen more often than not these days. Even outside of the legal system this seems to be a problem when the blame gets thrown on someone that is not responsible for work to be done. We are all so quick to jump to conclusions, rather than taking a step back and seeing what the problem is. I am guilty of doing this all of the time, but I hope to change my ways, even steer it a little bit away from the blame game, until I am able to be sure I am going after the right person. After Hell’s Kitchen erupted in explosions, Matt Murdock’s job is far from over as he is trying to gain information from Vladimir. When the cops arrive, Matt is shocked to see how deep they are on the take as another Russian is shot right in front of him. Staying in the mask, Matt is able to escape without being recognized and takes Vladimir with him into an abandoned warehouse for safe keeping. But the cops know where he is and will stop at nothing to stop the man who has destroyed their city. Ben Urich is listening to the police band after the explosions subsided. Wanting to put the pieces together before anyone else, he knows that the locations that were hit are all Russian fronts. Heading into the hornets next, Ben is the first reporter on scene, but the detectives in charge will not give him any information. Questioning them as much as he can, Ben sees that the standard police procedure is not being followed and there is next to no talk on the police radios. Thinking this is strange, Ben tries to get his questions answered, but this time becomes a little bit physical, and winds up saving his own life as three officers on location are gunned down in front of his very eyes. Karen and Foggy are rushing their client to the hospital after the blasts, but Foggy is losing steam. Having a puncture in his chest, he has to slow down and relax until the doctors are able to get to him. Karen sees the concern in Foggy’s eyes, but urges him to wait it out as she tries to get a hold of Matt on the phone. But when Matt is not answering the calls, they both start to worry that he has been hurt or even worse, killed by the explosions and want to get out to the street to find their blind friend. Having their first date cut short by the terror of Hell’s Kitchen will not stop their relationship from growing, no matter how much they try to avoid it. Wilson Fisk is watching his handy work while driving to back to his office. Hearing that Vladimir is not dead, he gives the orders to the officers on his payroll to finish the job. But since the Russian has been taken by the man in the mask, Fisk has to find another way to get rid of his former business partner, before he is able to divulge any information about the operation. Securing a police radio, Fisk calls the man in the mask and offers him a deal. Kill the Russian and they can both walk away with their lives for the night, but Matt is not willing to give the only man that can give him a lead to who all is involved and declines. Having three officers killed in the name of the man in black, Fisk is not pulling any punches as not only is the man in back being blamed for the killings, he is now the man behind the explosions that is leveling Hell’s Kitchen. Ok, so let’s get to what this episode was all about. Matt wants and needs information about who is the new kingpin that is causing Hell’s Kitchen to crumple around him. After saving Vladimir from the corrupt officers on the force, Matt also has to keeping him breathing long enough to get the knowledge he desires. Calling in help from Claire, Matt is able to keep Vladimir alive, but with all of the action going on outside of the abandoned warehouse, time is a factor and is not in his favor. After talking with Fisk, Matt finds out more about his foe, but not enough to move forward. When hearing the police breaching the perimeter, Matt and Vladimir are forced underground and are able to get on the same page and exchange the information that at least one of them needs to survive. This series is getting more brutal by the episode. With little respect for life, or at least the lives of his enemies, Fisk is making sure that there are no lose ends. With all of the money and power he has, he is able to make everyone disappear faster than they can beg for their lives. Matt is finding this out very quickly, but with his new tidbit of information, he may be able to formulate a plan on taking the man down. Seeing Karen and Foggy are holding up overall has to be my favorite part of the episode, even though it was extremely short. Foggy is not afraid of anything when he is helping someone, and especially when his good friend could be in trouble. I look forward to seeing what the next episode brings to the table since now Matt and Fisk have talked about their plans with each other, it will be great to see who can follow through and who will be left outside the gate, begging for scraps. Money may not be the only thing that can control the masses, but it is a good start. |
