"Gotham" Recap Part II: "Red Hood"

Last week on Gotham, things happened, and I’m seriously starting to wonder how Fish isn’t dead yet. A crime spree has broken out in Gotham banks! Three masked guys and one Red Hooded man have taken to stealing from banks. That’s not all, they only take cash from the drawer nor do they bother steeling from the banks patrons. The first robbery goes well, except the police arrive a bit sooner than expected. 

The man in the Red Hood reaches into the bag and lets the money fly. Not all of it, just enough to get people into the streets chasing after it. This blocks the police cars from getting closer and gives our guys time to escape. Which is all well and good but things never turn out like they’re supposed to. It seems the guy in the Red Hood has gotten too cocky. So, he gets shot, his hood gets taken, and thus the gang has a new leader.

Which is good because Gordon and Bullock find the logo of the mechanic shop on a shirt underneath our dead Red Hood’s jacket from the surveillance. While they don’t find the guy alive, they do find the hide out. But they’re not in time to stop a second robbery, or a second murder….but that’s cool, because these guys are killing each other off. Which is good? In the meantime Fish meets with the guy in charge. Well, not really. He’s more like the second guy in charge. She refuses to negotiate with him. Demanding to speak with the Doctor in charge doesn’t go well. In fact, he says they could fetch a nice price for her eyes, so Fish flips out and carves her own eye out with a spoon. Then steps on her own eye. Hardcore? Absolutely. Gory? Just a bit. Either way, she’s made her point…

And Barbara is back. Seems she’s happy to have the girls around. Even offers for them to take whatever clothes they want from her closet. As if things aren’t weird enough, she informs Selena that she’s pretty, and she should use her looks to get whatever she wants. Selena, of course, decides that this is more of an insult than anything, and asks Barbara how well that’s worked out for her before leaving. And, the most heart breaking, Alfred finds an old friend, Reggie, who spins the tail of being homeless and struggling. Of course he and Bruce take him in, feed him, and everything seems fine. 

Until Alfred finds Reggie steeling from them and decides that’s totally not cool. Reggie decides he doesn’t care and stabs Alfred, before fleeing the scene. Bruce finds him and calls 911, then informs Gordon what just happened. Alfred seems to be out for the count, for now, but he’s tough. Meanwhile Reggie was really working for the Board of Wayne Enterprises. Because they’re douchebags...

Tonight, we hopefully find out that Alfred is seriously okay.
