There comes a point in all of our lives, where we have to make a critical decision regarding the path we are going to walk. In that, we need to choose, if will we follow in the footsteps of our parents in some form or fashion, or if will we choose a path of our own, and what makes this decision so critical… relates to knowledge. Because we see the good and the bad of the family business, and know full well what we are walking into if we choose that path, and if there’s a lot of rough to go with it, do we want that lifestyle? On the other hand, though, it is the devil we know and forging our own path might be filled with more failure than expected. So, we struggle with that decision and hope we make the right call so we can enjoy happiness and peace in this life. But what happens if we make the wrong call after all? Can we easily transition to something new? Or has our path put us in a place that might make us irrational enough to do something drastic to be free of it? Well, those questions are top of mind today, simply because their answers are explored in the next episode of The Irrational on NBC. Which ‘Suddenly Alec’ accomplished, by offering up a supremely fun and refreshing episode for certain. Simply because, Rose was asked to play private investigator for a client, because he had concerns that his future husband might be up to infidelity and well, since Rose brought Alec along to find out if that was the case, they were both plunged into one incredibly unique murder case. For their target, was an actor, who was doing a community center rendition of Little Shop of Horrors, and sadly… the body of the most famous member of the troupe popped up, and despite the owner trying to shut the show down, the cast and crew wanted to proceed to honor him. Which meant, to get answers, Rose and Alec had to work on the musical. With Alec handling the acting and singing duties of Audrey II and that made… for some genuinely delightful sequences. Wherein Jesse L. Martin returned to his Broadway and Rent origins to bring us some toe-tapping moments, and we even enjoyed a little musical number from Karen David. Since there was indeed a moment where Rose needed to don the Audrey do and belt out some tunes. Which ironically, came forth because of what this duo uncovered as the case rolled along. Because they came to learn… that their original target was in Witness Protection and had his hands on some rare diamonds from a heist gone wrong. Which he was going to give to the theater company so that they could solve their financial troubles, and the original star of this edition of Little Shop, was going to handle all of that and play the hero. But… slight problem. The owner of this place was a second-generation theater owner, in fact, the community building once belonged to her father, and she was not good anymore with following in his footsteps. So, she saw this last show as her exit strategy, one complicated by a showering of money, and that was so distressing, she snapped and committed murder to escape a path she hated, and because she was arrested mid-show, and played Audrey, that was why Rose stepped in. All of which, brought that central theme home, and truly showcased how the wrong path, and a desire to be free from it, can motivate irrational behavior, and that only added… to an amazing episode. Because the musical moments here were just incredible through and through. Not to mention, we also enjoyed some epic revelations in this tale. Since we learned that Alec is going through with laser surgery to be free of his scars. A move that will have all kinds of emotional impact upon him for certain, and there was that stunning admission from Rose about her husband. Since that implies, she’s still married, and those revelations absolutely have us ready for more of this show. To see how Alec will process such a change and of course to learn more about Rose’s husband. Until next time. Watch ‘The Irrational’
