One particular phrase that has continues to be used in our modern is world, is the definition of insanity. Simply because in 2025, we still keep doing a lot of things the same, and we continue to expect a different result and somehow… are shocked when nothing changes. But we seem unable to move away from such line of thinking, and it is hard to say exactly why. It could be based in fear, since heaven knows humanity fears real and impactful change, or it could be related to the fact that we just aren’t at a point… from an emotional and intelligence standpoint as a species… to finally break free of such nonsense. Or perhaps… the solution to this age-old problem is far simpler. In that, maybe we all just expect someone else to step in and save us, to be the voice of reason over the shouting and the nonsense and well, no one ever does. So perhaps, it is up to us to break the cycle and how we could potentially do that… was put on display in the season two finale of Silo on Apple TV+. For ‘Into the Fire’ saw the situation in two Silos reach a crisis point. For in Silo 17, Juliette learned that the alternate suit she was ready to use to return home, had massive holes in the fabric, and that would harm her greatly and before she could find a solid solution regarding that, more infighting was happening between those left behind and that just led to chaos. Where it seemed as though no progress would come forth. Not to mention, back in Silo 18, the rebellion reached its apex, and Bernard thought he had the upper hand at last. For a plan was announced on camera and his shock forces were sent into the down deep to stop it and bring Knox and his group into custody. Only for Bernard to learn… that he was being played all along. For the use of hand signals amongst his targets revealed what he wanted from Martha to the others, so they used a fake plan to lure all of the security forces into the down deep so they could isolate them there with an explosive device. In the hopes of taking IT and revealing the truth, but that did not go as planned either. Since suddenly others were just eager to go outside, showcasing how rebellion can mean different things to different people and that when chaos arrives, dumb things happen.
All of which allowed for two individuals to play the hero and finally break the insanity. One of which, was Lukas. Who returned to the up top and told Bernard what he learned in secret, which broke Bernard and put him on a path to protect others and not himself, for he felt lied to regarding this newly uncovered truth. But Lukas’ actions, ended a dictatorship and broke a cycle, and it gave Sims newfound knowledge since Bernard handed over the Vault to him and his family. As for the other hero… that was Juliette. Who stood tall against the nonsense in 17 and spoke to how they had to stop fighting against one another and turn their anger toward those who put them in harm’s way, and that brought peace to her situation and inspired others. Since Solo tested her suit and even informed her of the Safeguard Procedure before she made her way home.
Wherein, she was able to inspire hope, end the rebellion and confront Bernard and inform him she knew that there was more at play here. Since it became clear that Salvador Quinn was a rebel caught between two worlds. One where he sought knowledge and one where he sought freedom and somewhere along the line, those responsible for the creation of the Silos wanted him to never have a firm grasp on either. But before this duo could properly team up to explore why, they were put in a precarious and fiery situation. One that left us worried for their well-being… before the show opted to surprise us. By taking us back to what appeared to be the 21st Century. To inform us that long ago, there was fear gripping America courtesy of global unrest, and an attack on American soil, and that two individuals from vastly different worlds, may have given life to the Silos out of that fear. Courtesy of a relic that we’ve seen before. All of which made, for an epic season two finale. Because this one had it all. Tension, high stakes, heroism and a juicy cliffhanger. Complete with answers and commentary, and above all… implication. In that, season three of this epic story, might finally explore the origins of the Silos, and hopefully showcase how those origins broke Bernard and hopefully showcase a unified people in 18. Where perhaps they can dismantle the digital control that hovers over them since clearly… it knows all and controls all, and now all we have to do… is wait patiently for the next chapter in this saga. But while we do, we can celebrate one amazing finale, one that left our hearts racing, took our breath away and set the stage for two more glorious years of this refreshing television series. Until next time. Watch ‘Silo’
