If there is one particular phrase that still holds great weight in our world, it would have to be… when it rains, it pours. Because truly, when we are going through good times, the wins just keep coming and we seemingly cannot be stopped when it comes to success, and when we are in the middle of dark times… the ugly stuff keeps coming too and all we can do is sit there and act accordingly. If anything, that phrase and its darker side is top of mind today, simply because that was focus of the next episode of Mythic Quest on Apple TV+. For ‘Telephone’ returned us to the home office to follow up on what happened after that Congressional hearing debacle and uh… things were bad. Because the original foreign investors pulled out, and the secondary ones that stepped in were people of dubious moral fabric and well, the staffing situation was a mess as well. Because Dana was gone, Rachel was out because of obvious reasons and well, it was up to David to rally the troops and get them ready for a new chapter in the company’s path and well, that too went south quick. Since Poppy and Ian let him know, they were taking a leave of absence and that they defied his orders and finished the expansion and well, David was so upset that he basically saw this as a grand opportunity to solidly his leadership and take control. So, he hammered the duo, by dressing down Poppy and firing Ian, and of course, it didn’t take long for that to be a grand mistake. Simply because, there were no creative directors present at the company, and no fresh ideas waiting for anyone. Just the expansion that David was hoping he would not have to rely upon. Since that meant backpedaling and sucking up to Poppy and Ian. So, he instead turned to Dana once more in the hopes she would come back, and she would not. Which was frustrating enough to prompt him to double down and try to look within to find something good for the company to bring to life, and sadly, his worst fears came true. For the expansion was indeed one of the finest things the company ever made, and its only salvation, and that meant he needed to convince Ian and Poppy to lead the creative future of the company. Which brought him to Poppy’s doorstep. To apologize and offer her and Ian a chance to return. But there was quite the problem hovering about with that. In that, Ian made it public that he ‘resigned’, and that pushed David to up the ante and just offer Poppy the job of solo creative director outright. With no strings attached and no limits. A move that left her in great conflict. Since she spent most of her spare time in this tale… talking with Storm about moving in with him and raising their child together in another country. All of which left the future of the company in the air and set the stage for a supremely worrisome season four finale. One that could end badly when one also considers that Brad set in motion another hideous get rich quick scheme. All of which made, for an episode filled with chaos. One that truly did live up to that classic saying for certain. Because nothing went right here, and the bad just piled up and now everyone is scattered to the wind and who knows what lie ahead because of all that. Which brought forth; one bold episode. For this one really took us places we did not expect to go, and wowed us to no end and truly, we will be anxiously counting down the minutes to next week’s season four finale. To see if this game and the people that have helped to guide it, can survive the onslaught of chaos that took place here. Until next time. Watch ‘Mythic Quest’
