There comes a point in all of our lives, where we reach a point of no return regarding something we’ve committed to. Granted, we hope that particular point is positive in nature, since it would mean that we are inches away from achieving or obtaining something wonderful in life, but that sadly… isn’t always the case. Because sometimes we’ve committed to dubious acts or put ourselves on paths that we know are unhealthy for us in every way imaginable and well… when we reach that point, good or bad… we have to make quite the decision. In that, do we double down and get what we want? Or do we step away and potentially endure heartache or disappointment? Obviously, the answer for something wonderful, it to go for it… but for the ugly stuff… this is no easy decision. Because sometimes the bad stuff we’ve committed to has in essence, put us in a difficult place where we aren’t sure we can walk away from it. In fact, bad or not, walking away could create more strife and trouble… even though it is the right call. Which can motivate us to stay on that path and try to make it work and really… this particular conundrum is top of mind today, largely because it served as the central conflict for Becky Green in the next episode of Chloe on Prime Video. For when we catch up with her in ‘However Rotten’, she is fully embracing her life as Sasha. She’s moved out, let Elliott help her put her mother in a home and well… she’s quickly falling head over heels for Elliott and is eager to just… let Chloe go and let this fantasy rule the day. In fact, she’s thriving so well at this point in the story, that she is even working for Livia full time and is helping her prepare for Phil’s magnificent art exhibition and well… that’s when she found herself in quite the difficult place. Simply because, Phil had painted a wonderful motif to pay tribute to Chloe, reminding dear Becky/Sasha that she can never escape the specter of the past, including her own. An epiphany that hit her hard when everyone took a moment, to reflect upon the fact that Chloe’s final phone call was to Becky, and that evoked old memories of her more awkward younger self, and disdain for her from her new lover and friends, and it brought her inches within of being discovered and well that is what put her at that crossroads. Because she could at this point walk away, take her lumps and start over in life and do her best to leave this whole mistake behind. Or the option was there to continue along and see where fate may take this lie and well… after realizing that the fantasy isn’t sustainable and that she could no longer hide from her own issues and toxic traits, she still committed to the fantasy… but for wildly different reasons. For part of Becky wondered if by chance, she could do something good with the world she created and potentially find redemption for actions she felt awful about now and that motivated her… to do something quite wild. In that, she decided that she could use her skills and her ability to blend in, to reach the bottom of why Chloe took her own life and those answers… might be unpleasant. Mainly because a deep dive into Chloe’s final hours, revealed some major surprises. The kind that spoke to trouble surrounding her and a willingness to make great changes to her life, since the money that Becky found was potentially part of a larger escape plan, one that never came to fruition and well… this is a bold move from a storytelling standpoint. Since it changes the dynamics of this tale and offered unexpected growth for Becky as well. Since she was indeed self-aware of her shortcomings and ill behavior for the first time ever and well, all this does is motivate us to continue the journey post haste. So, we can see where these discoveries and this shift in Becky’s line of thinking are going to take us as this story comes to a close. Until next time.
