When we last settled in to discuss the phenomenal Amazon Freevee series, Bosch: Legacy, the situation was quite grim. For the brass behind Advance Engineering sent an assassin to wipe Whitney Vance’s surviving heirs out and of course, Harry Bosch was racing desperately to save them. Leaving all of us to wonder if he would make it in time to save the day, or if this series was going to take a bold and different direction when it came to the Whitney Vance case and well… as it turns out, the season one finale of this series wasted little time in informing us of the fact, that Harry Bosch is quite the resourceful hero and there would be no death on his watch. For once he made it to Vibiana’s building, he quickly took action to fool the mysterious assassin. Simply by sending the elevator to the top floor while he quickly snagged Vibiana and her son. For the assassin had no problem chasing that elevator in the belief that someone worth killing was inside of it, and while she emptied a bevy of bullets into it, Bosch and the family escaped, and he was able to get them to safety. Which in turn allowed him a moment to really think hard, so he could figure out a way to bring an end to his madness post haste. All so Vibiana could live her life and do genuine good with her inheritance and well… after solving the case involving the dead doctor by motivating one dumb cop to do his job right… he finally figured out a way to make things right. In this instance, that meant thinking more like a solider and less like a police officer in order to save lives and set things right. And that is precisely why he kidnapped John Creighton and almost put him through a waterboarding session. To quickly get in touch with the assassin and lure her out to the right location where she could be dealt with in a brutal and swift manner. Which Bosch was indeed able to do, and by ignoring his police roots and just taking care of business, he was able to indeed save the day and forge a bright and wonderful future for Vibiana and her son. All while keeping Creighton and his actions in the dark so that no further trouble would come about without exposing Advance’s ties to such heinous acts. Which should have brought forth a supremely happy ending to this tale. For Bosch won the day in every sense of the word and he even gave Honey the business regarding her attempts to make Maddie a stooge through the lawsuit Chandler's firm filed against the LAPD. But alas, this is the Bosch Universe, where happy endings are often rare and instead… this tale ended with terror. For Maddie’s push to find the serial rapist walking the streets of her beat, clearly made the man responsible for these attacks nervous. Since he tracked down Maddie’s address and hid within her home to kidnap her and whisk her away to parts unknown, ending this tale on a sour and slightly hopeful note. Simply because, it was Harry that discovered she was gone and that will motivate him to make this his priority and woe to the moron that kidnapped Harry Bosch’s daughter. For Harry will be relentless in the hunt and put the fear of God into that man and only good news to come out of this act, is that we will indeed get to see Harry hunt the man that kidnapped Maddie. For season two of this phenomenal show is a go, and now all we have to do is wait patiently for it arrive, and thank heavens that Amazon Freevee gave year two a green light. Because this really was quite the refreshing and dynamic season of storytelling and it is wonderful and comforting to know that this second chapter in Harry Bosch’s life is going to continue on the small screen, as it so deserves. Until next time.
