If there is one grand frustration that everyone harbors regarding our need for justice in this life, it would have to be… we cannot stand how long it takes to bring justice to bear. For in our minds, and understandably so, the process should go faster. The evil people of the world should promptly and swiftly face trial for their crimes, and we expect the evidence to be overwhelming enough to send them to jail to rot for all eternity. But alas, while those frustrations are justified, the problem at hand… is that our world simply does not work that way. Justice requires time, requires evidence and a long period of gathering that evidence. Alongside gathering witnesses and sometimes… it also takes a coalition of the willing to bring justice to bear. As evidenced by the next episode of Dr. Death on Peacock. For ‘The Fog’ took the time to explore the discovery process and what it takes for people to properly cross the line to bring a monster to justice and it accomplished those feats, by way of two key storylines. One of which… involved Benita. Who was beside herself when we caught up with her. Simply because… her life was a mess. For the wedding was cancelled, she had no job prospects and had no idea what tomorrow held for her. So, she set out to do what needed to be done in her mind and bring Paolo Macchiarini to justice. And the best way to make that happen, was to learn every bit of truth about him she could and that… brought her to Europe to explore Paolo’s past and that brought about some shocking revelations. Such as how he laid down the foundation for lies and manipulation, by causing harm through hustling and swindling. Which helped him to learn how to gain trust from others and lie properly and this visit also allowed for Benita to learn… just how deep the lies went. Because she also wanted to see where she was supposedly going to live in Barcelona, and that was quite the shock to the system, since there was nothing at the address, she was prepared to ship her belongings to. But that did allow for her to do some investigative digging on Paolo and come to learn where he really lived and while visiting his home, she discovered the ultimate lie. That he had a family, and kept that a secret and well, that was enough to begin to prove that he was a fraud and sow doubt, and little did Bentia know, that she wasn’t the only one making such efforts. Since Dr. Lasbrey was beginning to have more concerns about her work in Russia with Paolo. Simply because he was reckless and foolhardy about the next transplant and what other artificial devices could be implanted into a person. Which prompted her, to dig deep as well and return to Sweden to finally see what happened with these tracheas and how they were impacting the body. Courtesy of what Drs. Svensson and Gamelli had learned as well. For they too were compiling data and pushing toward the truth and well… they too had what they needed. Giving rise to evidence and truth, and everything people would need to know to shatter Paolo’s standing as a Miracle Worker and finally bring him to justice. Which likely means the next two episodes, will chronicle how men like Paolo, and Paolo for that matter, face their downfall. Face justice and pay for the horrible things they’ve done in the name of hope and ego. But before we ponder too deeply upon that, we can celebrate one delicate tale. One that truly explained why it takes so long for the justice process to start. Because it does take investigations and a compiling of facts to make that happen and rightfully so. So that there is indeed justice for the fallen and the wounded, and well, now that awaits dear Paolo. For after years of swindling and lying, and quite frankly killing… his day is due and it really will be incredible to see how his former colleagues and his former second fiancé, bring him to justice and find peace for themselves and so many in doing so. Until next time. Watch ‘Dr. Death’

Caution: This article contains spoilers for the Series Premiere of ‘Chrissy & Dave Dine Out’.
One particular aspect of the human condition that is genuinely fascinating, is how we tend to gloss over important traditions that we all take part in and mean the world to us. Because more often than not, when we talk about tradition, or give it thought, our minds drift to the special ones that tie to our family. The ones we learned about and took part in growing up, and now exercise in adulthood to keep them alive. Which of course, are important and worth cherishing, but those aren’t the only time-honored traditions that deserve that level of care and that level of agency. For the other ones we take part in… are just as special and provide us with important formative moments that we take with us into our everyday lives. Such as the time-honored tradition of breaking bread with friends and family. For that really is a universal human tradition, one that allows for us to bond over a meal and be reminded of why we share that relationship with that person or persons, and we do take it for granted now and again. As though it is nothing more than a general act when it is quite special, quite moving. Since sometimes… it is a meal akin to that, which brings forth the love of our lives as we bond over dessert, or where we heal with a kindred spirit and after the last couple of years… it absolutely needs to be recognized more, and it just so happens… that a brand-new series on Freeform makes a point to do just that. For last night saw the debut of Chrissy & Dave Dine Out on the network and ‘Bring the Pizza!’ made it inherently clear that this show will indeed be about celebrating the time-honored tradition of sitting down with friends to eat. With a twist of course. Since hosts, Chrissy Teigen, Joel Kim Booster, and David Chang, invite some celebrity guests along for dinner. Wherein everyone gets to know everyone in that intimate manner that only a dinner can provide and well, this makes a fascinating show. In part because we get to see the human side of celebrities, something we need more of in this world. Since all too often we forget that celebrities are indeed people, and going this route will indeed help with that. Since we were able to see a different side of Jimmy Kimmel, and his lovely wife, Molly, and learn about them as people. But while that alone could have carried the premiere of this show, it still had so much offer us. Such as how the episode also reminded us of how exciting a process it is to go out and enjoy a meal with friends. Because there is an excitement that comes with making plans, and that spreads when we get there and see the menu and get to taste delicious food and learn about the menu and in the right restaurant, the chef. Which David handled in this tale since he spent a fair time in the kitchen with Chris Bianco to learn about how a great pizza is made. Which added a touch of flare and depth to this episode, making it part celebration of the meal, part dinner interview and part cooking show. But what matters most here, is that all of these elements combine to bring about… a wondrously unique new series. One that really does celebrate a long-standing tradition in a manner that has never been celebrated before. Because we don’t put meals like this on a pedestal. But we should. For this is just as important as the ones we take part in when we gather with family for the holidays, we just do this one more often and enjoy it every single time. And we connect deeply with those we break bread, or in this case, pizza, and that makes for a refreshing series that outright hooks you. Because now you want to see what other celebrities will open up over the course of a meal, and what amazing foods everyone is going to eat. But most important of all, you get to enjoy something that you can relate to and can take part in vicariously. Which brings forth happiness and a real motivation, to call up your bestie and invite them out to take part in that all-important bonding tradition, of dining with someone that brings you joy. Until next time. Watch ‘Chrissy & Dave Dine Out’
Written by John Edward Betancourt If there is one consistent complaint that people have about storytelling in this day and age, it would have to be… that there isn’t enough original content. That all we get is sequels, reboots and remakes and franchises and universes that never end. To which there is some merit. Since there are indeed a bevy of those stories out there. But the fact of that matter is, that complaint isn’t entirely warranted. For there are indeed some original goodies being released as well, they just require a little bit of work and a little bit of patience in order to find them. Or a helping hand, one that can recommend a true gem, such as the one we recently discovered. Because it just so happens that a supremely original new series on Peacock makes its debut today and In the Know deserves its day in the sun. For it really is an original and refreshing series, one that we are going to talk about in a spoiler-free manner today. So, you can settle in and enjoy it a bit before we start breaking it down in great detail. Because this is a series that deserves to be poured over and examined deeply because of the amazingly magnificent plot that it happens to harbor. One that provides us with a protagonist unlike any other on the airwaves right now. For Lauren Caspian is in fact, a radio host. Who works for NPR and is an ace interviewer and he thoroughly loves his job, and this is a story that allows for us to see the inner workings of his job and meet his co-workers and well, that’s where this story goes next level. Because that simple plot is nothing more than the foundation for a grandiose comedy. One that informs us that Lauren’s NPR office is filled to the brim with co-workers that beat to the march of their own drum and have their own wild agendas some days. Giving rise to a workplace where it is amazing that anything gets done, simply because the shenanigans that ensue in between those interviews are off the wall, and outright amazing and well… it doesn’t get more original than that. Because this writer is hard pressed to think of any other show out there that offers this kind of setting and this kind of zany day-in-the-life plot. But that is what you find here, and it is outright delightful. Mainly because all of this works so well because of the dynamic characters that we meet in Lauren’s office. For Lauren’s co-workers are simply amazing in their own right and quirky and fun, and silly in all the right ways. All of which draws you in, because you simply don’t know what to expect from them on any given day and it also doesn’t hurt, that the acting outright allows for the jokes to be delivered with an incredibly ferocity and honesty that you don’t always find in comedy. In fact, it would be foolish to not point out that the acting and the writing are outright stellar here. To the point where you sometimes forget you’re watching an animated comedy. Because the performances feel so real and you believe these characters exist in our world, and the scripts are just flawless and the stories draw you in and well, that is what makes this such a wonderful and hilarious show. One that is everything you want from a comedy and more, and the best news of all is that you no longer have to wait to watch it. For the entire first season of In the Know is available to watch on Peacock right now, and you absolutely need to see this series. For this really is one of the most unique stories to hit the airwaves in years, and it absolutely deserves to be celebrated. Whenever a country announces they are declaring war against another nation, there comes quite the set of promises. Such as how the country in question will be victorious and stand against the evil that threatens them, and also… that the war will be swift and decisive. All because those in charge of leading the march to war, do not want a prolonged conflict. They want to be victorious and move into what comes next post war. But there are other motivating factors beyond the ideology of war and the thrill of victory. For a swift win keeps resource use to a minimum, and it also keeps loss of life to a minimum. But there are also other solid reasons that nations want to keep war swift and intense, that we don’t discuss all that often.
Because in reality, a prolonged conflict can wear upon the citizens of that nation, and bring about a sense of hopelessness as their armed forces continue to use resources they too desperately need. Not to mention, there’s a real wear and tear that can impact the forces in question. Because being in a constant state of warfare can put a soldier in a very unique place mentally. One where killing is the norm for them, and so is the fury, and anger and apathy that is required to take a life. Which isn’t healthy and is also damaging from a mental health standpoint. To the point where it could a rob of solider of the person they once used to be. Because they will feel hopeless and trapped in a world of sanctioned murder and while that may seem extreme, well, there’s evidence to back that up. The kind that came in the form of the next episode of ‘The Pacific’. For this series was indeed assembled through true testimony, including that of one Corporal Eugene Sledge. And he made it very clear what that impact would be in his book and much of that made its way into ‘Part Nine’ of this series. For this episode chronicled when Sledge’s unit made its way to Okinawa. The last stronghold between the United States Marine Corps and the Japanese mainland, and this was where strategists were pondering upon how best to execute a landing similar to Normandy via the scrapped Operation: Downfall. But what mattered more, was that Okinawa was a tough place for Sledge to deal with, for it was indeed the darkest battle he fought in. Which is saying something.
But here… he and his unit saw the ugliest parts of humanity. Since it was revealed that citizens were being used as human shields and explosive devices to garner the upper hand against the Marines. A reality that left everyone shell shocked over the desperate nature of the Empire and the horrors didn’t end there. Because so many Marines lost their minds and lost their lives in this place. In large part, because the pressure was too high and because… the fighting had indeed gone on for too long. For there were Marines pondering upon where they might be in the Pacific in 1946 and 1947 as the war raged on and all of this brought about some real dark and unsettling moments, some of which involved Eugene himself. For he too had seen enough and done enough, and he was deeply beginning to struggle.
To the point where he started to act recklessly in combat and pondered deeply upon just letting his moral code go and well, it was hard to see him and everyone else in his unit suffer in this manner. But it hammered home the reality, this is what years of war can do to a person, and the damage it can cause and for a time, it truly seemed as though we were going to see Eugene Sledge just let go. Embrace the horror of war and become its wanton tool of destruction. But thankfully, neither he nor the rest of his fellow soldiers had to cross that threshold. For this particular episode surprised us all, by transporting us a few days after the United States unleashed nuclear bombs upon humanity for the first time in history. Signaling that the end of the war was near and soon… the fighting and the bloodshed, and the pain would finally end. But while that is indeed a reward for the audience, it was nothing more than another day for Sledge. Who was readying his frayed nerves and psyche for more combat, more blood, more darkness. And his journey here, really made it clear the ugliness of a prolonged conflict and once again tasked us with the question… is war really worth it? Because this is what it creates, and end of the war or not, that darkness he has been trying to keep at bay doesn’t leave overnight. For there’s PTSD in his soul, and actions he cannot just wash his hands of, and it will be interesting to see what the story explores regarding that in its series finale. For this is it, we are but one episode away from bringing this saga to a close, courtesy of the surrender from the Empire that awaits. Until next time. Watch ‘The Pacific’
