Written by Scott EdwardsSome people find solace in researching the past. While some enjoy the allure of books, there are a select few that actually get the chance to go and dig it up. As archaeology seems to be a dying science these days, as there is not that many uninhabited places, there are still a few archaeologists that are able to make discoveries that help change our perception of what has happened in the past. With these people trying to find out the truth of what happened in the past for nothing more than the love of the job, there still seem to be some secrets left that many people would like to have answers to. Hayden Masterton is on a mission to find out what happened to the Egyptian race so many years ago. As history tells it, one minute they did not exist, the next, they were a booming race with so many advantages ahead of their time. Knowing that there is some reason behind the rise of the empire, he has bankrolled several of the soundest minds on the subject. With his longtime friend Professor Mendella working tirelessly in the desert, a new man has come to help with the search for the lost pyramid that houses the secrets behind the great race. With Doug Adler on the hunt as well, Masterton is worried about the timing of the find, as there is an astrological alignment due to take place in a matter of days that will open the minds of every man on the planet as to what actually happened during the ancient times. Although it seems like a losing effort, a great stand storm hits the area that uncovers one of the last pyramids that has been lost to time. Knowing that this is the location that will provide all of the answers to what happened to the great race, Masterton calls his daughter to come and join the dig site, as she is one of the keys to unlocking the greatest secret of all. With the team assembled, Masterton is ready to start his trek into the past and uncover all it has to offer him, but when his good friend Mendella falls ill, the young Adler will have to take his place. With no respect for the young archeologist, the group questions what he actually knows about the era, much less the legends that can make him valuable to the search. Adler allows the second guessing to get the best of him and decides to leave, until he gets a call from Masterton’s daughter, Sarah, who has a feeling that he is the right man for the job. Entering the untarnished tomb, the group is met with ancient traps along the way, but Masterton will not be deterred by anything at this point of time, as this is his mission and he must fulfill it before the gods return to the planet. The loss of several men in his group does not phase the old man, as he is close enough to rewrite the history books and become himself, a god. If you like pyramids, the desert and ancient curses, this movie is one for you. Although you may not get all of the history that you would expect, you find yourself getting caught up in some of the old legends and theories about what actually happened to make the race appear in the history books. I am not disappointed in the storyline at all as there are several different ideas about what made this civilization great and although you may not like to think that there might have been some outside help, there may be no other way of explaining what was built so many years prior to a telescope. Happy Viewing.

Written by Scott EdwardsThere are so many things that science can explain, but there are also plenty of things that it cannot. One of the theories that I rather enjoy is that of a parallel universe that is just a tad different than our own happening at the exact same time as ours is moving forward. There is nothing that can prove that this is happening at all, but at the same time, there is nothing proving that it is not. But if you were able to cross over into this alternate universe, would you want to? What if the new world is completely different than the way you left it and what if you never existed in the alternate universe? These are good questions to ask yourself, because I am sure that if the parallel world does exist, anyone who can figure how to cross the threshold, will figure out a way to step over the line. In a back alley, Ronan Carver is trying to further his career as a semi-professional MMA fighter, but finding out the truth about his ability, he is more or less a punching bag for his opponent. Wanting something better for himself, he refuses to ask for help or forgiveness from his family since he feels responsible for their greatest loss. Heading back to his house, he receives a cryptic message from his father, telling him to arrive at a certain building downtown at exactly 6:58 p.m., and not knowing what this means, Ronan heads back to his childhood home and waits for his father, but he is not the only one in the house as his sister has received the same message. Being years since the two have talked or seen each other, they take a little bit of time to catch up and with their childhood next store neighbor still living across the street, a reunion takes place. But the brother and sister want to find the whereabouts of their father and are looking for clues as to what might have happened to him. Finding their father’s bug out bag in the back of the car, they take it back inside and inspect what is in it, and finding a strange artifact inside an old newspaper, they see something that makes them curious as to what their old man has been up to for the past few years. Not having any luck at the house, the group heads to a mysterious building downtown and even though Ronan does not want to enter the empty space, he is forced to follow his sister in. Finding nothing on the first floor of the building the group thinks that it is just a gag, but when reading all of the graffiti on the walls, they are more curious than scared about what happens next. A strange beeping starts and the group is transported to what appears to be a different time as the city that was previously around them is in shambles and is now covered in overgrown plants. Wanting to find out where they are, they ask a couple of travelers that are walking by, but the couple seems to more afraid of the strangers than they are of the surprise patrol. Shortly after seeing people get gunned down, the group runs back into the building, which still seems to be in pristine shape and try to hide from the killers down below and they quickly discover that not only are they not alone, but the building's true purpose...that it is a safe place that can transport people into parallel universes. This is a very interesting story of how the world could change when the smallest thing is different, or when something massive happens. I did enjoy how each different universe had its similarities, but wanted to see more of what would happen if the group ever ran into their alternate selves, but that would have to be handled in a sequel. The story is strong and the actors did a fine job bringing it to life. There are still questions to be answered when the movie ends, but that is how it was laid out, so you will have to wait for the next chapter to come into play to have them answered. Happy Viewing. Written by Scott EdwardsHistory and religion seem to go hand and hand throughout time. There are so many things that have happened in our past that revolves around what someone’s deity has told them to do, that it is next to impossible not to learn both at the same time. I know that there are many people that do not want their children to be taught these lessons in schools, but it is a part of our past and there is no way to get around it. Religions house many faces and names for many different people and wars have been carried out just for that reason alone and although not everyone is tolerant to them, it is something that we need to learn about, even if we do not believe in other people’s faiths. Roxy is a normal college girl going through some very hard times. After her fiancé was killed in a terrorist bombing, she has found herself in the middle of a new threat on campus. The government is trying to end all of the unknown threats on the streets by injecting a transmitter into everyone around the affected locations. Roxy is not comfortable with the idea and one of her professors is completely against it and for that, she has someone to look up to. But when he goes missing, Roxy is forced to comply with the new regulations, but is able to escape despite her hand transmitter and is looking for the answers behind what is really behind the new martial law that is being implemented. Years in the future, newly promoted Captain Shaw is starting to question his work. Working for Calf, he has been told for several years that anyone that does not wear the mark of Zurn is trouble and needs to join, or be killed. Running different assignments on a daily basis and needing to burn all of the paraphernalia he finds, Shaw comes across a diary that seems to hold several answers to questions that he has not been able to ask. Knowing that the Christians are a threat to him and his people's livelihood, Shaw continues his missions as assigned, but the further he gets into the diary about what happened before the great war, he starts to question if what he is doing is right. Roxy is being hunted down for refusing to accept the chip into her life and finds that her old professor has several ideas about what is really happening surrounding it. Wanting to get away without having one does not seem to be an option as she has found out who is causing the attacks and she now knows they want to change the world, for what they think is the better. Shaw finds a name in the diary that leads him to the leader of the Christian uprising that he is trying to put down. Wanting answers to his questions, he knows that there is only one man that will answer them truthfully and will do anything to keep him safe until he fulfills his fate. Rumors of Wars follows two different stories as you bounce back and forth in time, between a post-war civilization and pre-war one. Roxy is trying to find out what is really happening with the chips that are being implanted into her and her friends and if they really are going to make the world a safer place. Shaw is forced to find out what really happened in the past while reading Roxy’s diary and challenges everything he has known up to this point. Both Roxy and Shaw are faced with the same dilemma as they put their faith into what they are being told, but both have problems with what that is, since they are finding out the truth behind what is really happening in front of their very eyes. This is a hard story to tell as there are so many different references to how religion has played a part in what is happening in the present and in the future. As Roxy is not showing her faith, the people that she turns to for help are all well versed in it and are able to make the connection to what is happening by reading from the good book. While Shaw has been charged with burning this book whenever he comes across it, he is also in charge of killing anyone that believes the message that comes out of it. When taking my history classes and finding out what caused a grand leader to be removed from his post, or learning about a war that was fought under the Almighty’s name, these are things that I wanted to know more about and see how the different views of different cultures were marked throughout time, so I would never be the one pointing the finger at anyone due to their beliefs. Watching this movie, I have to say it brought back some of those memories, but nothing as strong as what it brings to the screen. Happy Viewing. Written by Scott EdwardsWhat does it mean to live? Is it just going along with your day, breathing in and out and not changing your routine, or is it doing something different? We all have our daily routine, but that is all it is, a routine, and we are missing out on much more of what life has to offer us. Sticking with one thing is fine, as we all have our comfort zones, but if you are not willing to branch out and do something more, you are not living life the way it was intended to be lived. The world is no longer safe as the radiation from the sun has risen so high, that it has killed off ninety nine percent of the world’s population. Needing to find a way to survive, the ROC Company has been able to build a series of robots that have constructed safe cities above ground so the remaining population can live life as it was intended. With only two main protocols to follow, the ‘Pilgrims’ have become the saviors in the world and man has to depend on these machines for everything. But not everything is as pleasant as it seems as insurance investigator Jacq Vaucan is about to find out. Being called out for several complaints about the machines, Jacq is getting fed up with his job. Everyone is trying to take advantage of the ROC Company and he has to prove all of the claims to be irrelevant. With one of the robots protocols being that they cannot hurt or let harm come to a living thing, Jacq has to make sure that all of the machines are working properly, no matter how silly the claims may appear. But the second protocol is what Jacq has a problem with, in that no machine can modify itself or another robot. Although he has not seen any of the machines doing this, there are people who can make the modifications to the robots and there is an underground movement to help allow the robots to do whatever they want. But there is still more to that as Jacq bears witness to a robot trying to kill itself to protect a secret. With this being a violation of the second protocol, Jacq is forced to look to the people that have made a living making the modifications to the robots for answers. Finding out that not even the best of the best can make the machines bypass the protocols, Jacq has become a target for the company he has worked for, for many years. Having to put his trust into a robot that has been modified, Jacq finds himself witnessing a form of evolution by the machines as he is dragged to safety through the radioactive desert. Wanting to return home, the robots will not deviate from their plan as it is not safe for them to return, even if a human commands them to. Jacq does not know what to believe as a rescue party comes to get him from the machines, especially when they are gunned down in front of his very eyes. As he has been protected by the robots, he returns the favor and kills a human in front of the robots. As humans do not have the same protocols as the robots, the machines are fascinated by the act and a new conversation is started that will leave Jacq less and less sure about what it means to be alive. I am still blown away by this movie as you get to watch two different species striving for the same thing. I enjoyed how Jacq had to come to terms with what was happening to him with his new robotic friends while being dragged through the desert. As the robots slowly change before his eyes, he sees that what they are doing is beyond their protocols, but they will not allow any harm to come to him. When he comes to see what they are trying to do, survive, he understands that they are not too different. Even though this deals with some of the same things as other sci-fi films do when it comes to the robots protocols and looking to live, it is a different story about how they are able to complete the feat.
