Written by Scott EdwardsSome people find solace in researching the past. While some enjoy the allure of books, there are a select few that actually get the chance to go and dig it up. As archaeology seems to be a dying science these days, as there is not that many uninhabited places, there are still a few archaeologists that are able to make discoveries that help change our perception of what has happened in the past. With these people trying to find out the truth of what happened in the past for nothing more than the love of the job, there still seem to be some secrets left that many people would like to have answers to. Hayden Masterton is on a mission to find out what happened to the Egyptian race so many years ago. As history tells it, one minute they did not exist, the next, they were a booming race with so many advantages ahead of their time. Knowing that there is some reason behind the rise of the empire, he has bankrolled several of the soundest minds on the subject. With his longtime friend Professor Mendella working tirelessly in the desert, a new man has come to help with the search for the lost pyramid that houses the secrets behind the great race. With Doug Adler on the hunt as well, Masterton is worried about the timing of the find, as there is an astrological alignment due to take place in a matter of days that will open the minds of every man on the planet as to what actually happened during the ancient times. Although it seems like a losing effort, a great stand storm hits the area that uncovers one of the last pyramids that has been lost to time. Knowing that this is the location that will provide all of the answers to what happened to the great race, Masterton calls his daughter to come and join the dig site, as she is one of the keys to unlocking the greatest secret of all. With the team assembled, Masterton is ready to start his trek into the past and uncover all it has to offer him, but when his good friend Mendella falls ill, the young Adler will have to take his place. With no respect for the young archeologist, the group questions what he actually knows about the era, much less the legends that can make him valuable to the search. Adler allows the second guessing to get the best of him and decides to leave, until he gets a call from Masterton’s daughter, Sarah, who has a feeling that he is the right man for the job. Entering the untarnished tomb, the group is met with ancient traps along the way, but Masterton will not be deterred by anything at this point of time, as this is his mission and he must fulfill it before the gods return to the planet. The loss of several men in his group does not phase the old man, as he is close enough to rewrite the history books and become himself, a god. If you like pyramids, the desert and ancient curses, this movie is one for you. Although you may not get all of the history that you would expect, you find yourself getting caught up in some of the old legends and theories about what actually happened to make the race appear in the history books. I am not disappointed in the storyline at all as there are several different ideas about what made this civilization great and although you may not like to think that there might have been some outside help, there may be no other way of explaining what was built so many years prior to a telescope. Happy Viewing.
