Written by Scott EdwardsHistory and religion seem to go hand and hand throughout time. There are so many things that have happened in our past that revolves around what someone’s deity has told them to do, that it is next to impossible not to learn both at the same time. I know that there are many people that do not want their children to be taught these lessons in schools, but it is a part of our past and there is no way to get around it. Religions house many faces and names for many different people and wars have been carried out just for that reason alone and although not everyone is tolerant to them, it is something that we need to learn about, even if we do not believe in other people’s faiths. Roxy is a normal college girl going through some very hard times. After her fiancé was killed in a terrorist bombing, she has found herself in the middle of a new threat on campus. The government is trying to end all of the unknown threats on the streets by injecting a transmitter into everyone around the affected locations. Roxy is not comfortable with the idea and one of her professors is completely against it and for that, she has someone to look up to. But when he goes missing, Roxy is forced to comply with the new regulations, but is able to escape despite her hand transmitter and is looking for the answers behind what is really behind the new martial law that is being implemented. Years in the future, newly promoted Captain Shaw is starting to question his work. Working for Calf, he has been told for several years that anyone that does not wear the mark of Zurn is trouble and needs to join, or be killed. Running different assignments on a daily basis and needing to burn all of the paraphernalia he finds, Shaw comes across a diary that seems to hold several answers to questions that he has not been able to ask. Knowing that the Christians are a threat to him and his people's livelihood, Shaw continues his missions as assigned, but the further he gets into the diary about what happened before the great war, he starts to question if what he is doing is right. Roxy is being hunted down for refusing to accept the chip into her life and finds that her old professor has several ideas about what is really happening surrounding it. Wanting to get away without having one does not seem to be an option as she has found out who is causing the attacks and she now knows they want to change the world, for what they think is the better. Shaw finds a name in the diary that leads him to the leader of the Christian uprising that he is trying to put down. Wanting answers to his questions, he knows that there is only one man that will answer them truthfully and will do anything to keep him safe until he fulfills his fate. Rumors of Wars follows two different stories as you bounce back and forth in time, between a post-war civilization and pre-war one. Roxy is trying to find out what is really happening with the chips that are being implanted into her and her friends and if they really are going to make the world a safer place. Shaw is forced to find out what really happened in the past while reading Roxy’s diary and challenges everything he has known up to this point. Both Roxy and Shaw are faced with the same dilemma as they put their faith into what they are being told, but both have problems with what that is, since they are finding out the truth behind what is really happening in front of their very eyes. This is a hard story to tell as there are so many different references to how religion has played a part in what is happening in the present and in the future. As Roxy is not showing her faith, the people that she turns to for help are all well versed in it and are able to make the connection to what is happening by reading from the good book. While Shaw has been charged with burning this book whenever he comes across it, he is also in charge of killing anyone that believes the message that comes out of it. When taking my history classes and finding out what caused a grand leader to be removed from his post, or learning about a war that was fought under the Almighty’s name, these are things that I wanted to know more about and see how the different views of different cultures were marked throughout time, so I would never be the one pointing the finger at anyone due to their beliefs. Watching this movie, I have to say it brought back some of those memories, but nothing as strong as what it brings to the screen. Happy Viewing.
