It is definitely safe to say, that we experience a bevy of different emotions when a relationship ends in any capacity. But of the many that surge through our veins in the midst of such a mess… there is one that stands out above the rest, fear. Because the end of a relationship means that we are now in uncharted territory and we don’t know what life is going to be like without someone we considered to be our one person at our side, and that is indeed terrifying. To the point where it might motivate us to take part in behaviors that are out of the norm to reconcile that fear and well… that is top of mind today, because those are the behaviors that were put on display in the next episode of The Split on Sundance Now. For when we catch up with Hannah and Rose in the next chapter, they’re paralyzed with that fear and understandably take part in those out of character behaviors. After all, Rose has lost the man she wanted to spend the rest of her life with. And while she tried to do her best to keep it together here and be strong… she could not. Because the finality of the situation settled in quickly for Rose and that allowed for the fear to take hold. Which brought about some powerful and familiar moments for certain, the kind that weren’t easily resolved, they just involved the grieving process and that utter terror that accompanies not having a clue what comes next. And kudos to the show for just showing us this in the raw… without resolution so we could take part in some relatable and realistic moments and be reminded of how grief makes us act in ways we normally don’t. But while those behaviors might seem commonplace in a way, there were some genuinely outlandish ones present in this tale and that was handled by Hannah for certain. Because with James’ passing, she began to ponder upon the futility and silliness of working to keep Nathan out of her life. Which in turn motivated her to straight up ask Nathan to forget about the divorce and start anew and let that fresh start guide them into a bold new chapter of their relationship. But the admission regarding Kate’s pregnancy, put a stop to that and let the fear of the unknown take hold and well… Hannah slid downhill from there. Since she took the time to insult Kate and Nathan at Kate’s book signing event. An act that made it clear that fear ruled the day and gave her a false expectation that perhaps creating a grand scene would solve her problem. However, that was futile for certain. Since Nathan had made his choice and was moving toward life with Kate and fatherhood again and that indulgence of fear, also brought about… some backlash for Hannah. For as science has taught us… for every action there is an opposite and equal reaction and Nathan definitely responded in kind. By doubling down on the divorce proceedings and injecting new terms into the mix. All in the hope of teaching Hannah a lesson and of course, making this worth his while as well and this too… was simply powerful to watch. For this was fear at its finest and its strongest, and watching it play out in two dynamic ways, truly led to one fascinating and engaging tale. One that serves to remind us that The Split remains one of the most honest and human show out there. Since it truly manages to capture the good and the bad of who we are and how that translates to relationships and the ups and down that they harbor and well, all this episode does… is demand us to continue the journey. So, we can see if Hannah can overcome her fear and/or do something constructive with it and find the peace and love she craves and honestly, the same goes for Rose. Since she is clearly in need of something to hold onto right now and thankfully, we don’t have to wait all that long to see what comes next… since this series returns to Sundance Now tomorrow (6/30) with a brand-new episode.
