It really is quite amazing, the various emotions that people experience when the truth is presented to them. Some experience outright relief, for the truth they’ve always wanted to know is now in front of them, and their quest for it can end. While others, find themselves disturbed by the truth. For it was not the answer they were hoping for and now they must continue their search for it. All of which serves to remind us of the power of the truth and how badly sometimes we want to will our belief into reality and well, the gamut of emotions one experiences courtesy of the truth, is top of mind today, simply because it was featured in the next episode of Steeltown Murders on Acorn TV. For this episode saw the swabbing operation get underway and one of the swabs had to reveal who did this so that justice could finally be served. But alas, the swabbing operation didn’t quite go as our heroes expected it to. After all, there was resistance from some, especially the suspect that had Paul on edge. For Paul had his hunches that the DNA evidence would show that Dai was the man responsible for all of this. Since he was such a problem back in the 1970s when it came to the case, and was combative in present day in the story regarding who might be responsible, and the DNA swab, offered truth at last, and it brought about those bevy of emotions for everyone involved. Because in the end, Dai wasn’t the perp. He was cleared and that gave him relief and peace that he no longer had to be seen as a suspect and could live his life at last, and that gave Paul, pause. For he really thought Dai was going to be the guy, and he had to reconcile the reality that he had spent years believing in this and that now he was in a way, back to square one. Which added real depth and gravity to this leg of the journey and truly reminded us of how the truth can shock us and take us on an emotional ride, and that wasn’t the only the relatable and realistic moment in this story. Since Sita also had to ponder deeply upon the reality that this case was back and that the past was front and center again. For that also brought about a bevy of emotions from her… and some hard survivor’s remorse. But while that made for a fascinating journey, one grounded in the reality that life will surprise and take us in unique directions and force us to reconcile yesterday… the revelation that the killer wasn’t in the common suspect group, since the swabs eliminated everyone, forced Paul to get creative. Because the brass was also ready to put a time limit on this hunt, regardless of the fact that a suspect emerged thanks to strange behavior and a refusal to take the swab. So, he partnered up and everyone pondered upon the possibility that perhaps familial DNA strands could be used to properly identify a suspect, and in the process, make history and make peace. Which means, Paul and his team are on the clock to try something that at the time, was never tried before. All to bring closure to this nightmare at last. But before we ponder too deeply upon that, we can celebrate, one smart tale. One that really did hammer home how the truth can transform our emotions in a powerful manner and change our lives in the process. Since Dai is now free and clear to live his life without a sense of guilt, and obviously, this motivated Paul to get moving and get the right person behind bars and use DNA evidence to properly make that happen. All of which should lead to more fascinating and powerful storytelling, as Paul works to finally put the past to rest. Until next time. Watch ‘Steeltown Murders’
