I figured a second part of this was due, simply because I didn't get to cover all the shows I watch in the last blog. Plus, with most show's coming back this week, it's back to normal! Which is awesome, but also a downside…. All our good geeky shows shouldn't have a downside, and generally it doesn't really. But, unfortunately, it does make me choose between one of my favorite geek shows, and one of my guilty pleasures. Arrow comes on at 8pm Wednesday nights….and so does Modern Family. Now, I have been addicted to Modern Family since they aired their very first episode. This is one of the funniest shows I have ever had the pleasure of watching. Now, it's not nerdy, but it has it's moments. I've actually gotten Mattie to watch some episodes of the show with me, and she's admitted, it's awesome. The show centers around three families that are related to one another. You have Claire and her husband Phil with their three children, Haley, Alex, and Luke. Claire's brother Mitchell and his fiancé Cameron and their adopted daughter Lilly, and then you have Mitchell and Claire's dad, Jay, with his new wife Gloria and her son Manny and their new baby Joe. Dysfunctional? Kinda. Not gonna lie, this show has its awkward, dysfunctional moments. But! It is an amazing show about family, and the trials and tribulations that happen. Mitchell and Cameron, for instance, are a gay couple. Throughout the seasons we've gotten to see a family adjust to that, to the addition of an adopted member, and to the great news of legalized gay marriage (yay equality!). We also get to deal with a father having married a younger woman and all that family drama that comes along with it. In the end, though, they are a loving, caring, family. That, despite everything that happens, are always there for one another. It's pure comedy with heart warming moments. Fantastic show to watch. I highly recommend giving it a try! Next up, is an old favorite of mine. I watched this show when it first aired, and saw it through until the last episode. Many of you may remember the show Friends. Well, it's not back, but it has been showed on a lot of channels lately. So, guess who's been catching all those reruns!? For me, this is a blast of nostalgia. I was 8 when the first episode aired and I 18 when the credits rolled for the last time. The memories I have about this show make watching it even better. Growing up, Friends was on at 7pm on Thursday nights. My parents, (and eventually my little sister) would either make pizza, or calzones, or pick them up…we'd gather around the TV and watch the show, while eating. It was fantastic family time. Plus, Chandler is forever my favorite character! (I hate Ross…) Great show though. It made me want to move to New York (because who doesn't secretly want to move to New York?!) My slightly nerdy guilty pleasure is something that comes from the great creator of Family Guy….Seth McFarlane. American Dad is more than just funny and amusing. American Dad is totally my family. First, you have Stan, which is a (slightly) stupider version of my Dad. Which makes my mom Francine (it's so true….love you mom!). My little sister is Steve and that makes me Haley. But wait, there's more. My family has kind of adopted Mattie, who is a strange cross between Claus and Rodger. It sounds crazy, trust me, I know. This show, is the spitting image of my family. It's like someone snuck in, took character profiles, and vanished. Also! Totally met the voice actor for Claus! He signed 'Jello-shots' as a part of my autograph. Which John Barrowman also did…so I think I now have to see who many celebrities I can get to sign that for me! What about you guys? Favorite non-nerdy-show? We all have that one show that we like to watch (Mattie's is Reign!) that's not always…liked by our friends.
