There was a time where video game adaptations for the silver or small screen, made fans nervous. Because more often than not those adaptations were handled messily, and either didn’t resemble anything that the game stood for or took the franchise in a very strange direction. Which gave rise to some iconic B-movies in that vein and some shows that are best forgotten over anything else. But thankfully, the care that goes into them now, makes them an exciting venture and that is why today’s announcement from Prime Video is quite wondrous in nature.
For earlier the network let it be known that the iconic SEGA Video Game, Like a Dragon: Yakuza, has been adapted by Prime Video and that the first season of the show will stream on October 24, and well, it looks like quite the winner. About Like a Dragon: Yakuza This Japanese action drama plunges into the dark underworld of the yakuza, exploring the universal theme of family not only through bloodline but also through ties between yakuza bosses and their underlings, orphans and their caretakers, as well as mentors and students. These relationships are marked by deep affection at times, and by intense conflict at others, all intricately intertwined. Set in the fictional town of Kamurocho, the story unfolds across two intersecting timelines—1995 and 2005.
