Each and every one of us, have worked at a job that was so easy in nature that it quickly became extremely boring. You know the one, where you got your tasks done extremely quick when you first got in and spent the rest of your shift… just passing the time. Which everyone handled differently when having that job. Since some of us surfed the web or read a book, maybe napped, or worked on something quite creative. But one way or another… we simply did something to pass the time and collect that check and now and again, we might have gone above and beyond to really make the boredom pass. Like… we might have had a few drinks before going in or during our shift or perhaps we partook in other recreational goodies to move the clock along. it isn’t necessarily a source of pride for folks, and we likely wouldn’t do it again. But sometimes… you just do stuff like that because you can, and well… that unique way of passing the time is top of mind today, simply because… it is exactly what the team decided to do in the next episode of Party Down on STARZ. Because the team was tasked with a ridiculously easy job in ‘KSGY-95 Prizewinner’s Luau’. In that, they merely had to stand around and serve a bunch of contest winners that were heading off to a Sting concert later on. So, they fully expected the gig to be as boring as sin and irritating and well, that prompted Henry to get high on shrooms while hanging out with Evie at the event, just to have a little fun. But Evie brought so much, that there was plenty for everyone to partake in, and of course… most everyone did. Just Ron wasn’t in on the high and well, that led to a pretty amazing night. One where Sackson went off into the world to just live stream and speak his mind while the high took hold, and Kyle… well he opted to just ponder upon his future as an actor, since his career was still stalled, by chatting it up with the many laid-back dudes at this event to gain focus. As for Henry, well he and Evie just talked shop and their careers and overall had quite the delightful time while enjoying the high, and Lucy? Well, she got high enough that she was inspired to make the weirdest food imaginable. Strangle little puffs made out of paper that tasted like paper, and look liked dog poop, and as for Roman… well… he seemed to deal with wild paranoia at this event. Because the folks behind it kept staring at him intently, as though he was in trouble for some reason and well, that’s when this party took a turn and where Roman, and the team, learned that doing shrooms in this instance, was a terrible idea. Because the folks that were keeping an eye on him, were cops. Who thought he could help them with what this event was actually about. In that, this was a grand sting operation, designed to bring dead beat dads to justice. And they wanted Roman to help them bring down the biggest dead-beat dad this side of the Mississippi. Which put him in a strange spot while high, because he was not sure how to handle being high while getting the right information regarding the mark. Not to mention… Sackson’s trip took a weird turn that forced Evie and Henry to try and find and save their friend. But in the end, eventually everyone came down from the high and finished the job, and most of the deadbeat dads when to jail right away. Except for the super offender, simply because Roman did him a solid and told him the truth. Which had consequences of course. Since he stole Roman’s certified pre-owned ride and trashed it. But not everyone had a sour ending to their wild mushroom trip. Because Lucy found inspiration, Henry may have his way back in to acting through Evie, who had so many wonderful epiphanies while high. Sackson got a ton of clout and Kyle got the gig, and well… in the end, this was just a great episode. Because let’s be honest, having this team get high at a simple job was a stroke of writing genius. One that really let everyone get goofy and silly and that brought about so many amazing one liners and so many hilarious moments, that were in fact… relatable. Simply because, this was definitely a throwback to getting messed up at that boring ass job from years gone by and kudos to the show for reminding us of those simpler days, and for providing us with another delightful episode that once again left us in stitches. Until next time.
