‘Lopez vs Lopez’ Recap: ‘Lopez vs Josué’

When we last settled into enjoy the magnificent NBC series, Lopez vs Lopez, we were left with a lot to ponder upon. Simply because last week’s tale looked closely at the conundrum that is kindness. For that episode showcased how it doesn’t always produce the joy and good vibes we expect it to, since some people don’t think that everyone deserves kindness, and we live in a world where it doesn’t quite seem to have a place anymore. So, we were left wondering if it is still worth our while and how perhaps it can be joyous and beneficial at a time where anger rules the day and thankfully, this week’s episode of the show answered those pressing questions.  

A feat that ‘Lopez vs Josué’ accomplished by way of a big decision from George. One he came to with the help of Mayan. In that, he needed to tell Rosie the truth and wean himself off of Josué. So that Rosie wouldn’t feel betrayed again and so Josué wouldn’t take advantage of George and heal on his own, since Josué was leaning on the former a bit more than needed here. So, George put a stop to the hangouts, and he finally told Rosie what happened, and why he made that call and that… should have been enough to put any trouble to rest. For George was honest, he did things right and kindness did help someone in need. But alas, Rosie wasn’t satisfied with that and saw a chance to take revenge.

Which was why… she sued Josué. To try and get a little financial compensation for her emotional damage in being used and in dating a man that actively knew he was addicted to sex. Which brought about a contentious showdown. But some great truths from George toward both Rosie and Josué, helped both parties to stand down and move on. But what mattered more, is that this battle, helped us to learn that kindness still has a place in the world. Because people do need it now and again for various reasons, but they also need… a level head when it comes to kindness. So that they can be objective when they receive it or when others we deem unworthy receive it. That way, all understand its importance and how it heals others and helps them grow and that brought about wonderful growth for all, especially George. Who was that level head and the real hero of this story with his kind actions. 

But while that was explored in a beautiful and unique manner, there were other lessons to be learned back at the Lopez house. For Mayan had uncovered her old school, pillbox style iMac, and Chance loved the device and the sick beats she laid down in the old music program installed on the machine. So, she became the apple of her son’s eye, and he asked her to put together a dance party for his friends. All of which made Quinten feel left out, and that was only made worse when Mayan sampled his voice into some songs. Making it seem as though a new age was upon him, where his son was going to favor his mom and leave him in the dust. But Mayan made it clear, dear old dad was loved by Chance, and admired as well and really, this was merely a fine lesson that we should always take a moment and get the whole story before worrying, since sometimes… moments where it seems we are growing apart are nothing more than figments of our imagination.

All of which made for another amazing episode from this amazing series. For it once again looked at the complexities of life and family life through a supremely complex lens. One that captured emotions in a manner that felt real. Since a jilted lover does struggle from pain and feels no need for good things and kindness to come to those who wound them, and we are angry right now as a society, and think some don’t deserve kindness, and every parent wants to feel equally loved and that just reminds us… that this series really is designed to just reflect life. Of all the ups and downs and struggles we encounter, of the good we do, and how that sometimes is born out of mistakes, and it will be interesting to see what other amazing lessons await us as season three of this delightful show continues along.
