Written by John Edward BetancourtTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...When it comes to AMC's Feed the Beast, it's safe to say that all of us have been counting down the minutes until disaster strikes on the show. Yes the characters are people we root for, and yes we want to see Thirio succeed...but let's be honest. The foundation for chaos was laid down weeks ago and last night's episode 'In Lies the Truth' finally brought every major conflict that's been brewing to a boiling point. But the flashpoint for all the madness that went down last night came by way of one word embedded in this episode's title...truth, because at long last, a few earth shattering admissions were revealed this week and when all is said and done, nothing will quite be the same on this show because of it. Obviously the elephant in the room is the fact that Tommy is now aware that Rie and Dion slept together, but there were other truths to be uncovered as well and a majority of them came from Pilar. Last night we learned that she never lost a husband nor is she grieving, she saw the support group as a chance to land a quality man and Tommy is the one her heart was drawn to...sort of. Either way, she's carrying quite a few secrets and while the audience is wise to her game, Tommy is still not and for now that's a good thing considering the hell he is currently in, and because of his current predicament, he was truly the focus of this week's episode. After all, every last one of us was curious how he was going to handle the truth about his best friend and his wife and it's safe to say a meltdown was in the cards but for the most part, Tommy surprised all of us last night. He more or less internalized all of his new found pain, opting to not immediately cave Dion's face in with his fists and try his best to move past it for his son and the sake of the business. But despite his strength, it was only a matter of time before the pain took control and well, once it began the end result on screen was absolutely heartbreaking. It was tough to watch him confess his knowledge of Rie's dirty little secret at her grave site, and it was equally rough to see Tommy return to the bottle big time on Thirio's biggest night to date in order to make it through his shift without falling to pieces. Yet, while one cannot condone getting drunk at work and harassing customers...one does have to admire Tommy's strength. He may go about everything the wrong way but I'll be damned if the man doesn't keep trying to find a way out of the darkness. He knows deep down that his heart is no longer in the sheer notion of Thirio since he now views it as a dream that belongs to Dion and Rie, and yet he's still trying to make it work and keep it going for the sake of those who left other jobs to be part of it, and ironically enough his moment of drunken weakness and subsequent fist fight with his now former best friend may have finally rattled something loose in Dion's head since he is clearly feeling remorse for what he has done for the first time...in well...ever as far as we know and he suddenly seems determined to make things right since he turned down The Tooth Fairy's offer to be head chef at that new waterfront restaurant. But, this is merely the beginning of bigger messes to come, especially when it comes to T.J. since his bully simply cannot leave well enough alone and torching Rie's memorial on the side of the road seems to be the last straw for T.J., and now that he has his hands on his grandpa's gun and judging from the closing moments of this episode, he's ready to do something drastic. Hopefully however, his idea of drastic is perhaps planting on the gun in that little punk's locker rather than shooting him, but the series is clearly going to darker places quickly as the weeks progress since murder is on the mind of our intrepid detective and even Patrick was willing to kill the one man he loved in order to prove a point...to himself, so at this point who knows what's coming next, we only know that dark clouds are gathering on the horizon and with the season finale drawing near...ugly surprises are no doubt in store for all of us. Until next time.
