At some point or another in our lives, we will go on a grandiose search, for redemption. For we will do something unbelievably stupid. An act that will embarrass us on a fundamental level and will undoubtedly bring about chaos in our lives, and the shame and fallout it creates, makes us thirsty for that redemption. So that we can set things right and feel peace again and perhaps come back stronger from our mistakes. But alas, that is something that will be elusive, since sometimes we burn bridges so hard, there is no coming back, and second chances are rare. So, if the opportunity arises to find redemption, we should grab hold of it… regardless of how much work or risk it will require. Because being able to do right by others and fix a grand mistake is a powerful feeling, and it teaches us so many positive lessons, and well, this is all top of mind today, because all of it was put on display during this week’s episode of Chicago Med on NBC. For ‘Down in a Hole’ spent a great deal of time with one Dr. Mitch Ripley, who was on the road in this story and trying desperately to find peace and well, he stumbled upon redemption in the most harrowing manner possible. For he hit an abandoned car that was halfway on the road, and it was there because a mother left it to its own devices. For her baby girl fell down a nearby well, and she chased after and fell into it as well, and that accident brought Mitch and salvation to them. For Mitch called in the cavalry, with a team that was led by Mouch from Chicago Fire, no less. Giving rise to a mini crossover. But what mattered more was that Mitch saw this as a chance to showcase that he was more than his mistake, and that prompted him to risk everything to go below the ground and help get this duo out of the well. Which put him in danger for certain, and in that dangerous space for him health wise, since there was a collapse of the rescue tunnel he was hiding within, he finally found peace and absolution. All because he took the time to do the right thing and find the person within, he thought he had lost, and while this was a dangerous way to explore redemption, one that most of us will never go through… the lesson was there for certain. In that, we have to go the extra mile to find redemption if we can and face our fears and worries in doing so. Because sometimes the only way out, is through, and that made for a satisfying and tense episode. One where Ripley skirted with the brink, but pulled through, and set up a healthier future. Since Dr. Charles can vouch for his bravery, and Hannah made it clear how important he is to her. But while that made for an amazing story, there was of course, more for us to enjoy in this tale. For Hannah also got some good news from her sister, since she learned she was going to be an aunt. Not to mention, we also learned a little more about Dr. Frost. Since a former cast member stopped by, and that prompted him to open up further on why he left acting. But truly, it was Mitch that stole the show, courtesy of a unique storyline for certain. Because normally, we are in the thick of the ER department in this show, and all the character building and development is handled there. But this was a lovely change of pace and scenery, and it really did bring about some incredible moments for Mitch and some welcome redemption. Because no one wanted to see Mitch have a total fall from grace, not after everything he’s been through to get to this point, and it will be interesting to see what he does with redemption in hand, and what other amazing moments and surprises will await us, as season ten of this amazing series continues along. Until next time. Watch ‘Chicago Med’
