This episode finds Jenny and Beau investigating the stabbing of Jody Cutter in her backyard while she was home alone. Her daughter Autumn, who found Jody the next morning, and husband Grant, initially offer no meaningful leads, but a canvass turns up footage from a neighbor’s wildlife camera of a man in a wolf mask with a sizeable wound to his arm leaving their property. After further questioning, Autumn admits that her mom was having an affair with the owner of antique store, Craig. Craig owns an ultra-creepy antique store, one that even sells masks like the one seen in the video footage of the killer, but he proclaims his innocence. Jody was the love of his life, and she was still alive last night when he left her after sharing dinner and drinks. Craig recognizes the wolf mask as the one he sold to Jody last Halloween. She and her husband Grant went to a party together as Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf. At the bike shop that Grant owns, Jenny and Beau speak with Scott, to confirm Grant’s alibi for the previous night. Scott confirms that he and Grant worked through the night, but Grant did leave for a late-night pizza run. Scott tells them they had just missed Grant who was headed to their shipping warehouse. When Poppernak reports that Grant hasn’t been seen all day at the shipping warehouse, Beau and Jenny race to the Cutter house. They find Grant lying on the kitchen floor, suffering from severe stab wounds and Autumn is missing. Grant manages to survive, and from his hospital bed he tells Jenny and Beau that it was Scott who’s taken Autumn. Jody had tried to warn him that Scott was obsessed with their daughter, but he hadn’t listened. When Jenny and Beau arrive to Scott’s house in the dark, it is surrounded by police cars and Poppernak says the house is clear. Observing the house’s interior, Beau muses to Jenny that the dimensions seem off. They head upstairs to check further. Jenny finds blood on a bedroom doorknob. Inside the bedroom, the sound of muffled music can be heard. Behind the closet is a secret bedroom built especially for Autumn and filled with items from her entire childhood. Scott has been planning this for many years. Jenny and Beau find Autumn drugged and chained. The power goes out and Scott slithers from beneath the bed and attacks them with a knife. They both struggle with Scott, Beau sustaining a wound to the shoulder before Jenny finally shoots him.
They reunite a tearful Autumn with her father Grant in his hospital room. They are heartbroken at their loss, but at least have each other to lean on. Jenny remarks about importance of a loving father to Beau as they leave the hospital.
Meanwhile, Sunny is trying to quash suspicions over Paige’s disappearance left and right. Her husband Buck confronts and tells her he knows she’s been lying and sneaking around and that Walter’s around. Buck demands that Sunny take care of Walter, who he considers dangerous. We learn why: Walter killed his adoptive parents by trapping them in their home and watching them burn. Sunny’s solution is to have Walter move to a different location, an idea he hates. Walter insists there no need for him to move but Sunny worries people searching for Paige will stumble across him. When she returns that night with Buck, an ugly confrontation among them ensues. Sunny tells Buck off and is then left at an impasse with Walter. She reminds him she loves him before she leaves him. An eye is seen peering out of a knothole in the wood of Walter’s place after everyone has left. It turns out Walter is holding a wounded and bandaged Paige after all. Cassie is still diligently looking into the facts surrounding the missing backpacker. She runs into Cormac, Sunny’s other son, while stocking up on rock climbing supplies to explore Deadman’s Drop. He insists on joining Cassie. They ride ATVs up to Deadman’s Drop where Cassie discovers blood on the rocks below. Cormac suggests an animal may have fallen to its death, but Cassie points out the lack of a carcass. They notice vultures circling in the distance and Cassie wants to hike over to investigate. Cormac protests that it will take them until after dark to reach that location, but a little teasing from Cassie and he agrees to join her. It is indeed dark when they reach their destination. Cormac’s flirty banter is interrupted by Cassie. There it is. The body of the missing backpacker, Mark Woodman.
