Whenever we travel around the globe, in an effort to just away from it all… or to let loose and party, we tend to stick to places at our destination that are… comfortable if you will. For instance, we tend to eat at the hotel, or the resort and we tend to go to places to drink and party that are constantly recommended to tourists. Which isn’t a bad thing by means, since you will find good food and drink in those places and fun as well… but let’s be honest, it isn’t an authentic experience. The kind that really allows for us to relax and see our destination in its entirety. Which is why it’s a big deal that the truTV series, 101 Places to Party Before You Die, took the time to show us the side of Puerto Rico that we normally don’t hear about. So that anyone traveling there can party in the same manner as Adam Pally and Jon Gabrus and really enjoy this place and everything it has to offer. Such as the fashion. Because dope hats were the first thing that Jon and Adam purchased in this town, to feel as though they were blending in, and to look damn good and once they did that, they made a point to eat some local food on Friday and party hard in a local rum bar. To just lose themselves and enjoy the evening and the wonder of their trip didn’t end there. Since the two of them also explored the island through some ATV adventures, the kind that weren’t touristy in the slightest and really showed the landscape off and let them immerse themselves in nature, and they also made a point to really learn about the culture, from a party perspective of course. Since Puerto Rico is the home of rum and there are distilleries there that left our hosts in awe with the work that went into creating this classic drink. Plus, they came to learn the wonder of the cigar by seeing more than the usual sights and of course… they explored the ocean on their own and took part in the beauty that has to offer in their own special way. You know, where Jon went diving while Adam got blasted. But what truly hammered home the importance of skipping the beaten path when we travel abroad… was when this duo swung by a part of the island that required special clearance to film in. Because this was truly where the culture was, and it wasn’t long before Adam and Jon immersed themselves in the music and the moments of the night. Which led to all kinds of fun for them, and the audience as well since we could feel the joy through our screens. All before they wrapped up their magnificent weekend with a little self-care and some fine food and reflection, the kind that this moment and everything else the duo experienced, brought home the point that we all needed to hear. In that, to hell with tourist destinations. It’s all about the lifeblood of the city if you really want to really party hard, and holy cow, does this island offer so much. Because it just seemed as though everywhere this duo turned, incredible adventures awaited them. The kind that was eye opening and engaging and they may have awakened new indulgences for these gents. Because they did discover the magic of the cigar and well, kudos to this show for taking the time to really showcase Puerto Rico in the raw and teach us a valuable lesson and compel us to continue this journey. So, we can see what other amazing lessons and destinations await us as this season continues along. Until next time.
