It is definitely safe to say, that the prospect of a Third World War terrifies a great deal of people in the free world, and understandably so. Because World War III would undoubtedly be a bloodbath for all involved, thanks to advanced weaponry and the seemingly endless resources that the bigger nations harbor. Not to mention, it’s a war that would likely mean the end of everything. For all it takes is the losing side to become desperate or worried enough, to hit the big red button and send nuclear missiles sky high, and their payload would lay waste to our modern world and so many innocent lives. But thankfully, while this is indeed a worry that creeps into our minds from time to time, we always manage to avoid it. But what if… the situation was indeed grim, and we seemed close to potentially having a conflict spill over that could create the Third World War? Would we be able to stop it, and if so… how? Well as it turns out, those are questions that the season three finale of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan on Prime Video worked to answer, by plunging the world into the worst-case scenario. For when we caught up with our heroes in ‘Star on the Wall’, everything was falling to pieces. For the Fearless, had set sail, with Luka on board… but he was quickly arrested and thrown in the brig, and with no concrete evidence that the Fearless was planning on committing to a major attack, there was little that Jack could do. Making it seem as though the coup and the war ahead were inevitable. However, that is when the series opted to explore, how we would save ourselves from such a horrible crisis, and one such way that could happen… would be through extreme bravery. For Greer and Alena and Mike opted to do whatever they could to stop the coup before it started, and that involved infiltrating the Kremlin and having face time with Petrov and the Russian President, to disrupt plans and expose the truth. A move that could have cost everyone that stepped into that building their lives. But they were so of the belief that peace mattered more, that they bravely risked it all, and that paid off in spades. Since the coup was averted and Petrov was finally put down, ending the madness in Moscow, and averting chaos and strife. But it would also take… level heads and an expression of the belief that we are better than this and that no one wants a world-ending war, since no one wins. Which may sound noble and cheesy, but it is true. Who would really want to see the missiles fly and see their homes burn all in the name of a pyrrhic victory? Which is why Jack got aboard the closest ship to the Fearless and appealed to better angels, as did Luka. Since that allowed for everyone aboard both ships to understand that this was avoidable and unnecessary, and no one had to die on this day and no conflict needed to take place. And for their efforts, peace was maintained, and the world was indeed saved, leading to a happy ending for the world, and for our heroes. One that saw Wright finally ascend to the top of the CIA, and where Alena could find peace and other wrongs were righted as well. Since Luka paid the piper for his involvement in the long-term birth of Sokol and of course… Jack and Greer were honored for their service and sent back out into the field. Where they thrive and are at their happiest and can do the most for the people of the world. For they are indeed silent and invisible guardians and well, you really cannot go wrong with a finale this perfect, and this satisfying, and it will be interesting to see what incredible challenges await these fine heroes when Jack Ryan returns for its fourth and final season. Until next time.
