When we last settled into enjoy the always engaging Prime Video series, Jack Ryan, the situation was quite grim. Because despite working overtime to stop Project Sokol from vaporizing thousands of innocent lives from the face of the planet… there was no happy ending waiting in the wings for Jack and his crew. Because the detonation of that bomb, period, served as a grand signal to the Russian Federation and other operators of this project, that the time had come for war. And that the Soviet Union should rise again. Forcing Jack and his team to immediately get back to work to prevent that from happening and well… we quickly came to learn in the next episode, that was going to be a quite the difficult task. For ‘Moscow Rules’ is a story that immediately picked up in Washington. Wherein Wright informed the President of the United States of the situation at hand and asked for patience on America’s part. For the Russians were watching and hoping for immediate escalation from the United States. And restraint would potentially buy Jack and his team time to diffuse the situation and bring the perpetrators of Sokol to justice and save the world from it. But while she did indeed get some assurances that the United State would watch and wait for the time being… she knew that the situation could change with wrong one move and that… and some other surprises is what brought about that difficult road for Jack and his friends. Because to bring down those responsible for this heinous attack on another nation’s sovereign soil, resources are a must, and those were quickly removed from their grasp. Because the American Embassy was in the process of shutting down. Which meant Greer had to think fast and use an old connect to try and get information on Sokol and the brain trust behind it, and operating in a hurry such as this, brought forth near disaster. Since that same connect was ordered (and paid better) to kill Greer to keep the truth from getting out into the world. A move that left Greer beside himself and concerned about whether not Jack could pull off any kind of miracles in the field, and that was a worry that weighed heavy over Jack as well. For he and Luka were trying to get a confession from Alexei regarding his involvement in Sokol. Which could have been enough to end this before it started. But Alexei was quick to do whatever was necessary to keep the fight going, and if that meant killing Luka, so be it. Which brought forth some scary scrapes for the duo, the kind that they barely escaped. But thanks to Greer getting the name of the agent that wanted him dead, the team made some frightening progress after all. Because Jack and Luka went to the home of that agent and came to learn… he was following some terrifying orders. The kind that would prompt his advanced warship to pick a fight with America, starting the war and enacting change in Russia as well. Because his orders, came from a chain of command that shouldn’t exist, but would soon. For this group of heroes forgot one important fact about this whole operation. That in order to properly resurrect the Soviet Union, men from it would need to run the new version of it. Which meant, that in addition to starting a Third World War, a coup was about to take place… one that would ensure there was no coming back from these actions and just like that… the stage is set for one hell of a season finale. One where the fate of the free world and countless nations is at stake and it will be up to Jack and his friends, and their longshot actions here, including an attempt from Alena to get people to the negotiating table… to try and stop this madness and well, with the war machine in motion, that might be quite the tall order for certain. Until next time.
