We like to believe that defeating evil is an easy task in this world. As though finding a source point of it, and eliminating it from our lives, will solve the world’s problems and bring peace to it at last, and that is simply not the case. Because when evil really gets its claws into the right individuals, it lives on, it thrives and finds ways to regroup and attack. It might not be tomorrow, because evil is patient, but it will eventually return to the limelight. Which is why in reality… the quest to stop evil is far more costly and bloody than we give it credit, since so many have to be locked away or dealt with in some fashion, to truly kill what evil has inspired in the hearts of so many. If anything, this is a hard lesson that is of importance today, simply it is one that Jack Ryan and his friends were reminded of/taught in the next episode of Jack Ryan. For ‘Ghosts’ is a story that saw Jack arrive in the Czech Republic to deal with Sokol at last. After that is… Jack dealt with the CIA. Simply because with Wright out of the picture, it was open season on the former analyst turned hero, but Jack was ready… and so was Wright. Because Jack was able to elude his pursuers with an assist from Alena so he could get to work and well, once Jack made it clear that there was a clear and present danger to the world, Wright was able to pull an end around on Miller. Getting his wrong world view out of the picture, so she and Jack could get on track and stop this madness. Which led to a powerful and frenzied search for Sokol. One that Jack was forced to do on the fly with minimal intelligence. But thankfully, he was able to figure out the location that the Russians were going to use to stage their fake attack, and it was up to him and his supremely small team to figure out how to stop it with minimal loss of life and thanks to a NATO team, and a long tunnel, Jack’s team was able to isolate the truck with the bomb on it inside one of those tunnels and detonate it. Saving countless lives and putting a quick end to any plans to immediately start a World War, and that wasn’t the only happy moment present in this tale, since a big-time villain in this story, finally got his just desserts after weeks of causing trouble. For Petr and Luka finally came face to face, with the former making it clear that he definitely had a big hand in guiding this mess. Which of course, prompted quite the showdown between both men, as they postured and glared and spoke of honor and duty since Petr came to understand that Luka was not the rebel, he was hoping he would be. That battle however, ended badly for Petr, since Luka was ready and willing to do what must be done to immobilize Petr long enough… for him to meet his end at his daughter’s hands. Since she was done with her father and still could not reconcile the cruelty and evil that he put on display against her. However, while all of that… seems like a happy ending, one that would expose the evil and solve the problem, all of this was the setup to the lesson. Because while Petr may have had a hand in this and helped coordinate Sokol… he is but one cog in the wheel. For there are other believers who desperately wish for the reformation of the Soviet Union and see it return to the forefront of the world as a superpower to be feared. Which means the fight is not over and this ragtag group of heroes, one with Luka at their side, now fully understand evil and how their fight to dismantle it will take time and cost a great many lives. For they now must kill an ideal and that is such a difficult and daunting task, and it will be genuinely interesting to see what lies ahead for Jack and his friends… as they make the final push to expose this plot and dismantle the evil it has inspired in so many. Until next time.
