Written by John Edward Betancourt Caution: This article contains spoilers for Episode Five of ‘Finding Alice’. The most important question that someone recovering from loss or grief will need to ask themselves at some point… is what comes next? Because grief consumes a person and puts them on quite the wild ride, one that does eventually come to an end, and the unknown that awaits a person when they realize this isn’t a forever feeling is an important one to ponder upon. Because emerging from the pain is the start of a brand-new chapter, one filled with the unknown and endless possibility and thinking about what one’s life could be and what it will stand for when the pain ends is supremely important, and well, what’s amazing… is that there is no real solid answer to that question. Because the journey that awaits us after grief varies from person to person because of their different wants and needs. For some simply want their next chapter to involve being free of the pain they felt, and some want to immediately find happiness, while others… want to keep the memory of their lost loved one alive in any way possible and it just so happens that the latter of those three potential outcomes, is what Alice is eager to accomplish in the next episode of Finding Alice. Because when we catch up with her in ‘Sperm’, she is starting to think about what comes next, especially after receiving a massive offer that could solve her problems in one fell swoop. The only problem is, she isn’t sure if that’s the answer to her problems and the possibility of a complete fresh start freaks her out. To the point where her anxiety, motivates her to lock everyone out of the house so she can have a moment to process the weight of it all and try to figure out if that is the right path forward and that is when her journey toward honoring Harry… gets underway. Because she comes to realize that doing so is the only way she will find peace after his passing and once she comes down from her anxiety cloud… she gets right to preserving his legacy in some unique ways. The first one, is by denying Tanvi any shot at Harry’s fledgling empire. Since she turned down the massive offer on the table in the hopes of moving those apartments herself and because she simply had to know if the sour land Harry bought was really as bad as advertised. Which as it turns out, it wasn’t, and that revelation allowed for Alice to begin to noodle upon what would be needed to build upon that land and develop it in a manner that would genuinely honor her late love and what’s wild about this tale, is that Alice’s quest to keep his memory alive, didn’t end with that land grab. For she also decided that it might not be a bad idea to get ahold of the sperm that Harry left behind and have another child. To add to Harry’s legacy. Which is a plan that was met with a lot of disdain and wild looks and sassy and hilarious moments and well… let’s be honest, that was a bit much. Especially when Charlotte was already the living legacy of the man. But it just goes to show how hard we will push ourselves to accomplish a goal when we know it will give us peace and well, trying to keep Harry’s memory alive really did do a great deal of healthy things for Alice. Because despite the wild moments present here, she really did find focus and she really did inspire others to take charge of their lives as well, since her dad finally stood up to her mom. Plus, she also stood up to her mom when mummy decided that being downright nasty and cruel was the best way to get through to her daughter and well, in the end, it would seem that what comes next for Alice… is strength and determination and dedication to the man she loved. Because for the first time in her life, she’s free and in charge of her fate and that should allow for her to accomplish wonders in keeping Harry’s memory alive whilst discovering what will make her happy going forward and hopefully, that’s what the season finale of this series focuses upon. Since it would be nice to see Alice finally find her groove. But alas, there’s a fair chance the finale in question might be more bittersweet than expected. Thanks to Tanvi’s ownership stake and a family that can’t leave well enough alone. Until next time.
