One of the hardest questions we will ever have to ask ourselves, is whether or not we can compromise our morals to achieve everything we want in life. Because sometimes in our journey toward what we want and desire, we are presented with the chance to take a shortcut, one that would require us to cut corners and take part in an act we normally wouldn’t. Which could haunt us and leave us filled with regret. Which is why we must decide… what lines we are willing to cross to get there and that is not an easy call. Because when you desire that goal, truly desire it, it calls to you and it pushes you and that makes crossing the line quite tempting, and that is of course… a choice and conundrum that has served as the central focus of the last few episodes of BMF on STARZ. For at this point in their lives, the Flenory brothers wanted nothing more than total domination in the drug game. Where law enforcement was kept at bay, and where no one was willing to cross them and of course… where loyalty reigned supreme in their ranks, and of course to get that… murder and mayhem was an option. Something that neither Meech nor Terry really wanted to commit to. But Lamar and Bryant have been pushing them non-stop… and that put them at that very crossroads in the season two finale of the show and well, what they decided in ‘New Beginnings’ was quite powerful to say the least. Because the opportunity was there, and the temptation was as well, especially after Bryant made a point to press them further via Monique’s death. Which prompted these two men to soul search and really decide how they wanted to play the game and well… they decided… they had to do things differently. They couldn’t be stone cold killers, they had to do this right. Which prompted Meech to deal with Lamar in a vastly different manner, by making sure that he became utterly addicted to the power of crack. Putting that man in a mental prison from which there was no escape and providing him with a fate worse than death, and Bryant? Well that too involved a unique plan. One where witnesses that knew about Bryant’s shady dealings were going to expose him if he didn’t bring the gun he was keeping as leverage over B-Mickie to the BMF crew. A plan that was going to work, until a strange twist made things worse for Bryant. Since his son found that gun and used it to deal with his bully problem. Putting him behind bars and leaving Ecorse PD eager to bury Bryant’s dealings rather than take the logistical L. Plus, this new course for BMF also entailed… cutting ties with those that could not be trusted. For yet again, B-Mickie dealt with the cops when Jin tried to save her partner and have B-Mickie take the heat for the gun and being near the cops again, made him persona non grata at BMF, and the same in Meech’s life. And once that was done… BMF had everything it wanted. Riches untold, new product, the police were at bay, enemies were squashed and only the loyal were around. Which is why it was surprising to see Meech decide… to break the duo up. Simply because he believed, that to grow an empire, leadership and drive was needed elsewhere. So, Meech opted to make his way to Atlanta to lay down financial roots there and for a time… it seemed as though a happy ending was in store for the family. After all, even Charles and Lucille figured out their own paths forward via divorce. But alas, this is still the drug game and there are still threats. Which is why Meech found himself in a defensive firefight down south and has enemies ready to strike and that’s also why, Terry once again found himself in dire straits and staring down the barrel of a gun. For this world is brutal and this world is cruel and while it is nice that Terry and Meech stood above the darkness… can they forever? Well, we will likely have to wait until season three to find out if that’s the case and if Terry came out of that situation unscathed. But while we do, we can celebrate a brilliant season finale. One that really surprised us by having kindler, and gentler moments take place when it seemed the brothers Flenory were ready for ugly war and for properly moving this story into the next chapter for Terry and Meech. Since the building of an empire is underway, and it will be interesting to see what the salad days look like, when we return to this story in season three. Until next time.
