Whenever we start out in a new venture in life, we truly believe… that we are going to be able to revolutionize aspects of our position that others could not. For instance, if we take a management job, we expect to be ten times better than the person we replaced and find ourselves respected and loved by our people, something that undoubtedly was not the case for our predecessor. Or if we head into a career field that is reviled by people or gives them concern, we believe that we will be the great equalizer, the person that will bring stunning change that position and well, we quickly learn… we have a long road ahead when our mindset is so incredibly positive. Because managing people is no easy task, and we eventually come to realize if we don’t put our foot down and not be their buddy, trouble will arise. Not to mention, we also learn that one person doesn’t always inspire great change, it takes so much more, and those kinds of revelations can shock us and stun us and leave us unsure of how we should proceed and believe it not… this problem pops up in every corner of our world. Including the world of illegal drugs, as evidenced by the next episode of BMF. For ‘High Treason’ is a story that quickly informed us… that Terry and Meech wanted to be vastly different types of drug kingpins. The kind that quite frankly… didn’t kill all that often and used common sense to inspire. Which came to light in this story, by way of a grand trip to Freaknik in Atlanta. For this was a chance to really expand the growing empire and while they were there, discussions regarding just leaving B-Mickie there, alive, and well came into play and even when team members acted up in an inappropriate manner… they were sent packing instead of being shot or violently dealt with. Making it clear just how badly they wanted to handle things differently and not have to go the hardcore violent route that others had around them. But alas, despite making good connections in the ATL, and seemingly doing everything right… the violence inherent with this business and the ego, and the desire for power… reminded them of the realities of the business they have chosen to be part of, and how their desire to insulate themselves in such fluffy thoughts… allowed for so many threats to thrive and endanger them. Because back home, more problems were brewing for the business, and the family. Such as the struggles happening inside the Flenory home since Lucille couldn’t reconcile the reality that Charles cheated, with Mabel no less, putting her in a dark place. Plus… marginalizing Lamar and planning to end him from afar, only went so far. Since he snapped in this tale and killed Monique when she made her move, unleashing his fury once again. Plus, Bryant and Jin finally found common ground as to what was going on and pooled their resources to make life difficult for the Flenory’s, and thanks to a lucky break involving Boom… the police might finally have what they need to come after the BMF empire and bring it to its knees before it can thrive. All because big dreams and drama kept BMF’s attention diverted from such uncomfortable realities. But we know that BMF didn’t fall immediately, thanks to history, which likely means… that Terry and Meech made some tough and bold decisions. The kind that involved buckling down and taking part in the unsavory stuff in this business, that they were hoping to avoid. And well… that sets the stage for a powerhouse season two finale. One that will likely see Terry and Meech leave innocence and fluffy dreams for a kinder and gentler empire behind… to finally embrace their dark fate, one filled with riches untold and crimes galore and that is going to make the wait for next week’s episode quite painful. Because such decisions will put these characters past the point of no return and we simply must see what that looked like, and how it changed this duo forever. Until next time.
