‘BMF’ Recap: ‘Moment of Truth’

Rock bottom is a phrase that we tend to view in a supremely negative light and understandably so. For we live in a society where success matters most to everyone. Where the thought of failure and not being able to maintain the status quo that comes with success… is disgusting, apparently, and anyone who cannot cut it in America, where the dream thrives… is shunned. Which is… silly to say the least. Because failure and reaching our lowest are important aspects of growth as a human being. For if we don’t stumble and fall, we don’t know what we actually want out of life. So, we should embrace our darkest hour and let it bring forth the lesson we need… to rebound and find success or put us on the path we need to be upon.

If anything, the importance of rock bottom is top of mind today, because that’s precisely what Terry and Meech experienced in this week’s episode of BMF on STARZ. For ‘Moment of Truth’ is a story that saw this dynamic duo arrive in Atlanta with high hopes of rebuilding their business before heading home. A hope that only grew, shortly after they made nice with Meech’s connections from Vegas, since they expected familiarity to bring them riches untold and kilos galore courtesy of a simple night of illegal gambling at a place run by a mysterious woman named Goldie. Which uh… well it went bad quick. Because the games were fixed and with nothing left in their pockets, even asking for kindness from dealers in the know brought them nothing of note.

Which put them… at rock bottom. Because they tasted failure in this tale, they were flat broke, their business was near belly up and returning home without something to show for this trip would have been disastrous. But this was… exactly what they needed. Because up until now, they’d played the game loose, and thought they were invincible. But this proved, that not keeping their eye on every detail in the game and putting a little too much bravado into what they do, cost them dearly. Which in turn, gave them the understanding that for starters, both brothers wanted this, because the thrill of it was too much to pass up and their skill set here was next level. But it also made them realize that if they had a second chance, they could recover and rebuild and be stronger than ever. 

That motivated them to teach Goldie a lesson in humility and once she learned it and helped them get their money, they got product and headed home, with a touch of pride in their hearts and worry on their heads. Because a lot of bad things happened while they were out of town. For instance, their father… gave into temptation while Lucille was away on a church retreat, and crossed the line after all this time, a move that will undoubtedly change the family dynamic going forward. Since something wasn’t quite right between Charles and Lucille when they attempted to finally connect in bed once again. Not to mention… Lamar flexed up on the streets with the Flenory boys out of town, and believed he was such hot stuff… that it would be okay to attack the Flenory household.

A move that proved to be awkward since Lucille didn’t give him the fear and awe, he wanted, she instead offered kindness and prayer. But this went to show… that Lamar is ready to escalate, and it won’t be long now before an answer to his actions arrives in the Big D. For the boys are headed home and they know, thanks to Nicole, and while we wait to see what will come of Lamar’s bad call… we can celebrate another cerebral tale. On that let a pair of drug kingpins experience failure like the rest of us do and learn from it and use it to strengthen their resolve and that is likely, going to lead to some incredible episodes down the line. As these reunited brothers do whatever must be done, to build their legendary empire. Until next time.
