Written by John Edward Betancourt There are a great many elements that go into making a great television show. Obviously, it needs a great cast, some great writing, complete with great characters. The stuff that engages us and draws us in. Plus, it also needs to feature stories that captivate and wow us along the way, and so many shows understand this and do their best to execute and give us something worthwhile. But now and again, you run into shows that tweak that formula and find ways to improve upon it and those are the shows that we view as iconic in nature. Because these are the stories that know how to grow the characters in a manner that is stunning, and they do so through stories that not only drop our jaws but challenge the characters like never before. Not to mention… they also realize the potential of the characters, by eventually offering up a season of storytelling that is so bold and so strong that you are instantly blown away by what plays out on the screen and well, that’s why the word iconic isn’t used all that often in referring to shows. Because those are all hard elements to achieve. But there is one TV series that is about to have that moniker bestowed upon it. Simply because the upcoming fourth season of Slow Horses on Apple TV+, is the finest season of the show to date. For it truly puts the characters to the test like never before, and it does indeed feature a plot for the ages. In fact, it is the plot that drives such matters. For in season four of the show, London quickly finds itself under fire. Courtesy of a hideous bombing plot that devastates lives and warm and comfortable city locations, and a surprise within the walls of Slough House also opens everyone’s eyes in way that they never thought possible. Obviously, we won’t spoil what that is, but we can say… there’s a jaw-dropping moment that changes the dynamic of the office and the season, and the story overall. Because it forces Jackson and his merry band of ‘rejects’ to act in ways they have not before and face down some hard truths and of course… combat all of that to do their jobs. Which leads… to some of the finest acting you’ve ever seen on the small screen. For every actor in this series brings their A-game to the table to sell what’s playing out in front of us, and that moves you like never before and wows you in ways you didn’t expect. With Gary Oldman and Jack Lowden leading the charge, and that’s saying something. Since they’re always great, but here this duo light it up with their acting skills, and the work of the cast only adds to what is a perfect season of storytelling. For the writing is also top-notch and the surprises and the buildup make for a thrilling experience really, and truly… this is a high point for television, a high point for spy dramas and again, the best season we’ve ever seen of this show. Because everything that happens here is bold, dynamic and engaging, and it does not waste a single second of screen time and the good news is, you can soon see the wonder of this amazing season of storytelling. For September 4, 2024, will see the season four premiere debut on Apple TV+, with new episodes dropping every Wednesday until October 9, and we here at NTG cannot wait for you to see season four, nor can we wait to geek out with all of you about it. Because this season of storytelling, is the kind that will light the internet on fire and have all of us asking questions and texting our friends about what could lie ahead. For this season is indeed iconic and an absolute must-see. Written by John Edward Betancourt
Caution: This article contains spoilers for Episode Three of ‘Bad Monkey’. To revisit the Series Premiere, click here.
Often times in crime stories, the moment the bad guy begins to clean house and tie up loose ends, we are near the end of the story. Because then the gumshoe in question is getting far too close to the case. So, it’s either start whacking people and escape prosecution and persecution or face down the letter of the law. And of course, this never goes well for the baddie, since they either get caught in the act or leave one loose end that brings them to justice at the end as expected. Which is why the Apple TV+ series, Bad Monkey is so incredibly refreshing, because… it defies convention and is clearly planning to take us on a vastly different ride, as evidenced by this week’s episode. For ‘Nobody Said He Was Alvin Einstein’ saw Yancy and Rosa continue their investigation into whatever Christopher and Eve were up to, and that brought about… some fine comedy and some fine sleuthing to say the least. The kind that saw Yancy showcase how well he reaches people on a fundamental level since he inspired a security guard… to bust he and Rosa, and he did get through to Madeline about the fact that Phinny got a payoff for tying the arm to the boat to set this whole thing in motion. Not to mention… they were able to find the shady and drug loving doctor, named Israel O’Peele, that performed the operation to remove that arm. Giving rise to a grand case for Yancy to go after… one that quickly fell to pieces. In part because, ol’ Christopher decided… it was time to clean house. For he made the trip to Izzy’s apartment to take care of him post haste, since he knew way too much, and blabbed to Eve about Yancy’s visit. And really, he didn’t quite seem like that much of a trustworthy guy. And even Madeline was worried that doom was coming her way. But truly, what ended the case and seemingly left Yancy high and dry, was the sheer fact that Caitlin signed off as this being an accident. Which closed the case and left Yancy upset enough to say something, which in turn pushed Caitlin to think upon her next moves and well, that’s a hell of a twist. One that basically shut this whole thing down, three episodes in, and it only got worse from there for Yancy. Simply because… Caitlin’s decision led to quite the surprise. For she made a point to swing by the house to point a gun at Eve to get her to admit that she was a murderer. Only for Christopher to reveal… he’s not really Christopher. He’s Nick, or maybe another name and he had his freakin’ arm surgically removed to bring about fraud and riches untold. Oh, and he’s Caitlin’s dad, and that… that’s jaw dropping. Because now… there is no case for Yancy for investigate from a murder standpoint. Because there is no dead body, just a greedy jerk, that loves to commit murder and well… where we go from here is anyone’s guess and that is brilliant. Because now, we are in uncharted waters for this mystery, and everything that lies ahead will be exciting and new, and that includes Neville’s journey as well. Because the curse has thus been a waste, and he’s so desperate to find peace through dark actions that he’s giving up everything to have it, and that’s dangerous. Especially since Christopher is a murderer and the Dragon Queen seems more interested in buying his faith. All of which… brought about one stunning episode. One that truly subverted the genre and took us down an incredible path that has us eager for more. Because we simply must know what comes next now that almost every loose end is gone and what Yancy will even pursue without murder in hand, and that is going to make the wait for next week’s episode quite difficult. For our desire for answers, and more of the wondrous moments this show sends our way… is strong. Until next time. Watch ‘Bad Monkey’

Caution: This article contains spoilers for the Season Finale of ‘Time Bandits’. To revisit the previous episode, click here.
If there is one question that humanity has tried to answer time and time again, it would have to be… what is it that gives life to a hero? Simply because heroes and heroic acts represent the best of us, and all of us would love to embody what heroes embody. For they are indeed brave, strong, and infallible and trying to be like them… would indeed improve us in some major way. But alas, there is seemingly no solid answer. Since we’ve seen people just become them in trying times or they transform into one through means that aren’t clear. Well as it turns out, being a hero is far simpler than we give it credit, as evidenced by the season one finale of Time Bandits on Apple TV+. For ‘Pell-Mell’ and ‘Fortress of Darkness’ saw the Bandits finally become heroes, and well, these stories made it clear that there are three steps to becoming one. First, we must acknowledge that we are in fact, not a hero when we start out on the journey. Because no one is born one, they are forged and molded from the flaws we carry, and the Time Bandits came to that realization… by finding out that Susan was alive. Because she faked her death to get away from the Bandits to be with Penelope’s fiancé and to do something with her life. Because she felt stealing accomplished nothing, and well… it took some hard soul searching, but they came to realize that they could do more with their title and their skills. Which of course, allowed for them to let go of their past, and in some cases, their respective loves, and move on, move forward and more toward Pure Evil’s towering tower of terror to learn the second lesson. In that, a hero must be brave through and through. Because they will face dangers untold and while the core Bandits understood that later, Kevin and Saffron knew it up front, and they stood toe to toe with Pure Evil and battled his temptations and wares. Because they were indeed brave, and they were indeed locked into saving their parents the right way. Since Evil offered mom and dad’s lives in exchange for the map to corrupt the world and of course, the Supreme Being showed up to take it too, and was also eager to corrupt to have it. But the brave souls in that room said no and then the third element took shape. In that, a hero needs to be a champion for good, for love, for all that is right in the world, and that came through courtesy of one epic plan. Because Kevin was faced with an impossible choice. Either give the map to Evil and watch the world suffer or give it to the old SB and see everything fade away in the name of his vision, and there truly appeared to be no way to get out of this one. But alas, Kevin knew better and knew that there was a way to satisfy all his goals and keep the status quo and make the world safe. For a little guile never hurt anyone, and that allowed for no one to receive the map and by keeping it secret, Kevin and the Time Bandits became true heroes. For they checked off those boxes, and saved lives, and sadly, were rewarded with a unique surprise. For the other investigators on the case, felt the need to take the map for themselves. So, they could do something more with it than ‘unworthy’ shrubbery creators and that sets the stage for a possible second season. One that we hope the show gets, because it really is not only a worthy companion to the original show, but a delightful family series. One that teaches us so much about history and life and the power of friendship and love, and that’s stuff we need on television right now. But while we wait to see what lie ahead for two teams of Time Bandits, we can revel in a delightful and satisfying and fun finale. One that gave us everything we could want thematically, and it does leave us eager for more adventures with true heroes. Watch ‘Time Bandits’

Caution: This article contains spoilers for Episode Five of ‘Women in Blue (Las Azules)’. To revisit the previous episode, click here.
One particular question that each and one of us harbor regarding the police, is what exactly do they do internally… when they’re wrong? Because police officers do indeed make mistakes at work, and well… we hear little of it outside of the fallout on the news. But we should know more, for they are public servants and serve the public trust, but we simply have no idea how those internal conversations go in that world when someone goofs up hard and well, that’s why the next episode of Women in Blue (Las Azules) on Apple TV+ is so very refreshing. Since it does explore how such matters would be handled, in a manner that perhaps we might not care for. But before we dive into that, we should take a moment and explore… the powerful character growth present in this story. Because that was the bright side of this tale, for ‘Ángeles’ is a story that saw Gabina stand tall against her family for the nonsense they were sending her way, which was no easy task and something of a loss really. Because despite her pleadings and despite her raw truth about how they were treating her, they did deny her a birthday celebration and care. But she made it clear, she was a police officer and was staying in the force and hey had to get used that whether they liked it or not, signifying her growth as an individual and she wasn’t alone in this tale. For María completely understood that something was going on with her husband, and that she really had not done anything to stop it or fix it, and well, his late-night returns to the house were enough to motivate her to seek counsel from her sister and friends and their advice on how to handle this, and in turn… they pushed her to get evidence for confrontation. Which she did obtain, and she did hit him with everything she had evidence wise and from an emotional standpoint and that, got her a confession and prompted her to demand separation for the time being. A move that genuinely spoke to how much she was growing and how much she wanted agency over her life in every way. But all amazing moments aside, there was mention of some dark concepts present here and well… that did indeed stem from the shocking end of that phone call María started last week.
Since the Undresser informed her, he finished his work on Alma, and that sadly… was the case and that forced Gerardo to dive back into the matter and tell everyone at the top, that the monster was alive and well, and seemingly had a plan of sorts. One that spoke to punishment of his victims and more work to come of course, and that led… to the uncomfortable answer in question. Because it turned out that rather than about face and own up to getting the wrong man here, this agency, instead doubled down on the lie and made it seem as though there were multiple assailants here. Making it clear that mistakes are costly in this line of work and since they can wear down the public trust… some deem it best to just… lie and keep lies going so that justice will overshadow the perversions of justice that can and have and do take place behind the scenes.
However, Gerardo wasn’t the only officer in this story pushing toward resolution of this case. For Las Azules were on the matter as well and they… managed to put together an incredible case that brought about a suspect. Courtesy of Ángeles’ exceptional mind. Since she compiled data quickly and was able to ascertain who owned the car and that he had a PO box and well, to do something about this, the ladies brought in Romandía. Who loved what he saw and did the digging for them, only to come up empty. But it was a start, and a reminder of how amazing these investigators are, and their work here was not totally in vain. Just because a little follow-up revealed the might of their foe, since Natalia and María came to discover… their suspect was bait and that the real Undresser made use of him… to throw them off the trail. All of which speaks to a grander hunt, one that will be mired in fear since the Undresser has made it clear he will burn everything down to enjoy power, since he also revealed he is a traditional serial killer in that manner and well… all of this brought forth one stunning episode. One that continued to offer great balance between character growth and this juicy case and juicy is the right word to use. For the mystery is growing and Las Azules are in the thick of it, and there is so much more to learn and search for regarding this awful man and his awful crimes, and it will be interesting to see how these four incredible police officers use their skills to bring this monster to bear, while flying under the radar of a hungry and focused Gerardo. Until next time. Watch ‘Women in Blue (Las Azules)’

Caution: This article contains spoilers for the Season Three Premiere of ‘Under the Vines’. To revisit the previous episode, click here.
It is definitely safe to say, that the hit Acorn TV series, Under the Vines, can be used as a guide for life. Simply because, Daisy and Louis have gone through moments we are all going to experience or have experienced. Since there will come a day when death changes our life in ways we never thought possible. Where new chapters will arise and force us to think differently about our path and well, that’s just a wonderful thing. Because far too often, stories merely focus upon one theme and one concept regarding life, whereas this show is taking us on the journey, and showcasing all the ups and downs and changes we go through, and mistakes we make along the way, and never was that more evident than during the show’s season three premiere. For ‘The Wellerman’ and ‘Know When to Hold ‘Em’ pondered deeply upon how best to navigate the troublesome moments and people that keep us from getting hold of everything we want in this life. Alongside how hard it is for us to sometimes let go of the life we lead to head into a new chapter of it. Not to mention, these episodes were just full of surprises. Such as the fact that six months after William pushed his way into the award-winning world of Oakley Wines, Tippy met someone and had a baby on the way because of that encounter. Not to mention, Gus came home because he broke up with Griff and those were just those little surprises we sometimes encounter in life and were complimented nicely by those other explorations. In fact, Marissa and Don were the folks who examined the struggles we face with letting go. Because a friendly chat with William helped Don to understand, that he and Marissa really hadn’t lived their lives. They dedicated everything to the business and sacrificed quiet time to see those awards roll in and that awakened something within Don. In that, he wanted to be free of the trappings he created, and hand off the winery and go see the world with his wife. Who… did not want to let go. For the thought of being anyone or anything else than a vintner was terrifying, and that prompted fights and an odd alliance between Marissa and Hilary, who was also battling the changes in life that a loss of sight brought her. But that aside, this was a grand look at how hard it is to let go of parts of life that we hold to greatly, and it does set the stage for a grand exploration on how we either overcome that or potentially how we lock ourselves away within what is comfortable.
But of course, the centerpiece exploration in this tale, involved Louis and Daisy, who were very much stuck with William in their lives, and he was indeed ruining how they wanted to run the winery. For he flexed up often about how he was half owner and that his input should be heard. Which was the problem at hand. Since he refused to hear any ideas other than his own and well, that prompted this duo to get to mediation as quick as they could to finally be free of the man. But alas, he had a signed deed to the place, that complicated matters further and left this duo listless for a time. Because it put them back at square one at a time when they should be moving forward and growing the business as they saw fit. Which in turn pushed them to despair and drinking and that in turn, brought about trouble.
Because a nasty remark from William regarding Tippy’s future with the winery, prompted a drunken defense from Daisy. One where she challenged dear William to a poker game, and if she won, he would leave and let Oakley be run by Daisy and Louis and if he won… they would move out of the main house and give William free reign there, and well, despite their efforts to cheat, they lost and faced that change and well… the point of that moment was quite clear to say the least. In that, their actions were a cautionary tale, of how one cannot let emotion and anger cloud one’s mind when an obstacle to a dream or a chance to do something amazing comes into play. Because to do so, brings forth chaos, whereas level heads would have allowed for this intelligent duo to find their seemingly impossible out. All of which made, for a thoughtful premiere, one that also featured growth and other curious moments for the season to explore. Since Vic and Nic revealed their fight to handle the potential results of their pregnancy, and of course… Louis and Daisy danced with the flutters in their hearts again, despite Louis toying with love and despite Daisy inching closer to the big day. But what mattered more here, were those life lessons we can relate to, and those moments that remind us life is quite the wonderous journey that takes us unexpected places often, and it will be interesting to see what other lessons lie ahead as season three of this magnificent show continues along. Until next time. Watch ‘Under the Vines’

Caution: This article contains spoilers for the Series Premiere of ‘The Anonymous’.
For the most part, new reality competition shows that debut on television, truly do feel quite familiar in nature. Simply because there are a lot of formulas that one can follow in assembling one, and most do. Because in the mind of so many, there’s no need to reinvent the wheel, just a need to add a fresh twist to things so that reality television builds upon itself. Which isn’t a bad thing by any means, because that’s something that storytelling and television have held to for a very long time. But now and again, it is nice to see someone try something completely and utterly new, and really attempt to wow us with something refreshing and that is why, The Anonymous on USA Network is of note. Simply because, it is indeed that breath of fresh air. A reality competition series that is unlike any other on the market right now, and well, we were able to experience what made it so unique and so refreshing last night and that made ‘Welcome to The Anonymous’, ‘Can You Handle It?’, and ‘The Face-Off’ quite the fascinating set of tales. One that showcased that… just a dash of familiarity can go a long way in giving life to something new. Because the only aspect of this show that felt akin to anything we’ve seen before, was the fact that it gathered together a group of individuals from different walks of life, to compete in a game complete with some magnificent prize money. But once everyone dug into the nitty gritty of the show, did things change drastically. Because just like that, we were immersed within a series that makes use of social media concepts to bring about competition. For the 12 individuals brought together to compete, were required to pick an avatar and ponder deeply on how best to use a chat room to expose their competitors and put them up for elimination, all while doing their best to stay utterly anonymous. Because The Anonymous would be the one to decide who was sent home. Which made, for the fascinating moments in question. Since it forced everyone to think about how best to speak without revealing who they were and how best to deflect and defer to maintain that anonymous status and well, what made this so incredible, is that we got to watch the group basically learn the rules and learn to execute them in real time.
Which you just don’t see that often in reality television. Since again, that familiarity allows for everyone to smoothly adjust and improvise from there. But here, it was immersion and learning on the fly and deploying new strategies that may or may not work since this kind of competition hasn’t been tried before. And that brought about innovation from folks like Jack, who quickly figured out how to sneak into the shadows and properly deflect and confuse when the time was right, and struggles from others such as Lilly, and Sydney, since they were not prepared for how quickly the game nudged them in the wrong direction. And of course, to really make the game more interesting, tension was built in the most unique and direct manner possible.
After all, everyone has to sleep under the same roof, and that meant interacting with one another after going after one another in the chat. Giving rise to a difficult standard for the contestants. Wherein they had to say nothing and continue to compete and deflect so that no one was the wiser regarding what who said what and how it impacted them. All of which brought about some hard emotional impact and struggles now and again. But while it was indeed amazing to see such a tapestry of interesting moments play out and be introduced to such a diverse and interesting group of competitors that are fun and friendly, since they are indeed not filled with drama or malice, this is still a competition show and someone had to become the Anonymous and send people home. As it turned out, Jack’s incredible strategy did the trick and helped him to remain in the shadows twice over, and that allowed for him to decide that Sydney and eventually Kacie were to be sent packing to give him the best shot at scooping up the potential $100 grand on the line. All of which brought to a close, an epic and engaging series premiere. One that taught us the rules in a wonderful fashion and outright hooked us. Since we get to enjoy a new game, new strategies and new prize competitions that really are delightful through and through and it will be interesting to see how this fight to stay anonymous will play out as the circle of competitors shrinks in the weeks to come. Until next time. To learn more about the creation of ‘The Anonymous’ visit our interview with Executive Producer Stephen Yemoh. Watch ‘The Anonymous’

One particular problem with modern society, is that it tries very hard… to streamline emotions and beliefs. Out of the misguided sense that somehow the world will be happier if everyone holds to the same ideas and goes along with them. But we’ve come to learn, that’s just terrible thinking, and brings nothing but misery since it means that those who want something different out of life or want to feel something outside of the norm, suffer, and that’s not right. For feelings and beliefs are subject to the individual, and are the business of no one else, and as long as someone isn’t causing great harm to others via their feelings or beliefs… they should indeed be allowed to feel those feels and hold to what gives them life.
Slowly but surely, that understanding is becoming the norm, but it has taken centuries for human beings to get there and often times… it’s taken little moments of learning to elicit change. Since that one lesson is imparted upon another and that does indeed take time, and well, this is top of mind today, simply because Maximo experienced that kind of learning in the next episode of Acapulco on Apple TV+. For ‘Crazy Little Thing Called Love’ brought the ultra-popular and long-standing Latin sex symbol, Rodolfo, to Las Colinas and well, that allowed for Maximo to learn the truth about love. About how love is love, and how respect is a key element of it and well, he learned all of that, by way of several surprises when it came to Rodolfo. For this popular singer also had quite the sexual reputation. In that, he was able to bring women to his bed often with a warm smile, and his sex appeal was so great in such matters that even Maximo’s mother had a crush on the man, and well… that ended up making Maximo quite nervous. Because a little spat between Julia and Chad, opened a window of opportunity for Maximo to woo her at last. So, he set up a date and prepared to turn on the charm to hopefully woo her at last. But alas, on the day of their date, she was hanging out with Rodolfo and succumbing to his charm and that wounded Maximo, and salt was poured within said wound, when he was assigned to Rodolfo’s villa to keep people out. Since paparazzi were everywhere. All because Julia spent time within the villa and truly, Maximo thought this was it, that Julia was going to be seduced by the world’s hottest pop star. Which prompted a rescue mission in Maximo’s mind, that sadly… required him to leave his post and that… brought about the lesson in question. For a photographer got in there and got evidence that the only person that Rodolfo wanted to seduce, was his manager/husband. A truth that would have ruined him in 1984 because of those stupid views on love that we harbored at the time. But Don Pablo’s care in keeping this secret, and the fury that Julia sent his way when he revealed that he was trying to save her from being sexually conquered, as though she didn’t have a brain in her body… helped Maximo understand a great deal about love. Such as how, it really is subjective to the heart, and that women don’t need chivalry and protection in such matters, because not every woman has sex and romance on their mind and make their own choices in life. Plus, we also learned that it is pure for those who find it and forgiving. As evidenced by Nora and Ernesto’s first date, and that surprise revelation for Sara, romantically. And that is how we learn about love, by seeing it in the world and seeing how it works and lessons like the one that Maximo imparted upon his nephew, is how change comes forth and all of this made, for a lovely episode. One that really spoke to an important moment in all our lives, one that definitely helps us better understand the world, and how best to navigate its chaotic nature. Until next time. Watch ‘Acapulco’

Caution: This article contains spoilers for Episode 405 of ‘Snowpiercer’. To revisit the previous episode, click here.
When we last settled in to discuss the final season of the hit AMC series, Snowpiercer, we talked at length about how questions were beginning to grow regarding this series. Specifically, why Admiral Milius seems to have something of a vendetta against Layton and well, everyone we have come to know and love, and how that influences his actions. Since it seems to push him to go to great lengths to get buy in on simple concepts, and well, since we are at the end of the line for the series and there is clearly so much more for the show to cover, last night’s episode of the show served as the perfect time to answer to those questions. As it turns out, Admiral Milius is less of a scheming monster and more of a blunt instrument for the real mastermind of this plan. A truth that came to light in ‘The Engineer’, courtesy of the arrival of Snowpiercer and Big Alice at the very bunker that Melanie surrendered to months ago. Wherein we came to learn that the place was nothing short of a maze. The kind where access to other parts of the bunker were difficult, by way of the bunker’s layout and through various levels of security and of course… it was a place designed to be free from illness and it restricted the movement of so many. For Layton and his rescue team came to learn that armed guards were at their side nonstop, making escape difficult and of course, that was seemingly the point. Since Milius spoke to how they were now part of the cause, and that Big Alice was essential to the long-term plan of saving the world from the cold with those unique rocket launches. But what mattered most about this sequence, was that it was the final cog in the master plan that Admiral Milius executed. Because someone wanted this to play out exactly as it had, and they wanted submission before revealing their visage and mastermind status, and rightfully so. Because it turned out that the mastermind of everything here… was none other than… Joseph Wilford. Who managed to survive his exile into the cold courtesy of the Admiral, and who as always, talked his way into survival by offering up his genius to save the world at last. And well, while Wilford once again preached that this was all about unity and the need to work for the betterment of mankind, his words went unheard and he was met with sheer hostility and near violence when Layton tried to knock him out and well, that made Wilford quite giddy and gleeful.
Simply because, it was his idea to put everyone through hell on the trains and torture Layton in this manner. All because he loves to mess with people and wanted some measure of revenge for what happened to him, and Milius was just following orders. So, there was satisfaction to be found in discovering that he was able to hurt them, and that Milius executed his plans so well, and once Wilford had his little playtime, he was able to return to Big Alice and bring his finest suits and treats back to the bunker to finish his work. Which was indeed about saving humanity with the rockets, and oddly enough… Alex opted to learn more about this. Bringing forth another impromptu reunion and a sense of sorrow. For that was seemingly that. Wilford had what he wanted and needed, and Layton and his friends would be stuck there, and everyone in New Eden would perish.
But alas, Ben and the others were not content with that, and with some engineering in the very room they were captive, an escape plan did hatch. One that allowed for Ben and Till, and Ruth to get back to Big Alice after some incredible maneuvers inside the complex. But of course, an escape of this caliber did not come without sacrifice and sorrow. Because sadly, a right cross from Ben, one that (satisfyingly) connected with Wilford’s smug face on his way out, sounded the alarm and prompted the two trains to depart early. Which meant, Ben didn’t have enough time to properly figure out how to disconnect Big Alice from Snowpiercer, so… he made a tough choice to save his friends… and exposed himself to the cold to free Big Alice and save New Eden. All of which brought forth, in part… a heartbreaking story when all is said and done. Because Ben will absolutely be missed for certain, and a round of applause is in order for Iddo Goldberg’s amazing work on this series. But this was also a powerhouse tale, that perfectly brought Wilford back into the fold and that decision, quite frankly, works well for this final season. Since his return and this fight for the future can help bring this story to a proper close. After of course, we get through the tough stuff. Since Josie and Layton were left behind and while he is closer to Liana than before, the failure of this mission for Milius has Layton at arm’s length to her, and of course… without Big Alice, trouble will come to New Eden. For Milius only believes in the mission and everything else is expendable. Which means that conflict between people who believe in only the greater good and folks who want resolution that includes all of humanity is on the horizon, and it will be interesting to see who will come out on top when the never-ending snow finally settles. Until next time. Watch ‘Snowpiercer’
