Written by John Edward BetancourtTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...I would think that if there is one solid word to describe a police detective and the job that they do, it is justice. They quest for justice, they do their best to bring people to it and that's why we watch a good old fashioned police story. To see the bad guy lose and the good guy win and make the world a safer place once again, but when it came to last night's season two finale of True Detective, justice seemed to be quite elusive. This was a bleak finale and fitting for the bleak season we have endured when it comes to this show and honestly when it came to last night, I really didn't think there would be any justice at all. After all Woodrugh was dead now and Ani and Ray were no longer cops, instead they were hunted by the men and women they once worked alongside. It was unexpected to say the least, to see a show about detectives...without detectives. But, there was a lot to like about this finale, "Omega Station", since it wrapped up everything neatly and as for justice, well, let's discuss that in a minute, but first...let's answer the question, who killed Ben Caspere? The answer to that was resolved pretty quickly. Because in the wake of Paul's death, Ray was able to put two and two together and recall that Erica/Laura's brother Leonard was present on the movie set that day as well and when they go to pay him a visit they find all the clues they need. The bird mask, the kabuki mask, pictures of the guilty, the shotgun that dropped Ray and oh yeah...Laura, handcuffed to the fireplace. She fills the detectives in on their quest to find justice for their parents death by way of Caspere and how it went horribly wrong thanks to Leonard, who is now planning on killing Holloway during a meeting to trade out the hard drive, which is wiped clean thanks to a security measure by the way, at a nearby bus station. Ray of course is on it and with a little wheeling and dealing manages to get Leonard to relax for a moment and get a full confession out of Holloway. But Leonard's bloodlust takes over after it is revealed he and Laura are the illegitimate children of Ben Caspere and well...in the ensuing chaos the confession is lost and Holloway and Leonard are dead. Laura as it turns out is on her way to Seattle thanks to a bus ticket from Ani, leaving her and Ray back where they started, on the run. But we cannot forget about Frank who enlists Ray to help him settle the score with the Russians and rob them blind as part of the plan to head to Venezuela and be free of this nightmare. Ray and Frank are successful, but before they can reach paradise, disaster strikes. Frank is confronted by the Mexicans who want their payout now that the clubs have burned. They get it, but Frank is stabbed and left in the desert to die and Ray...well after seeing his son one last time he discovers he is being tailed by his old pals from Vinci. It leads to two impressive and vastly contrasting ends for the men as Ray goes out in a panicked blaze of glory, and Frank is able to confront his demons and his past before slipping into the darkness of death. Ani at least makes it out, and well...it looks like the bad guys win. Tony Chessani is the new Mayor of Vinci, Detective Burris is now the Chief of Vinci P.D. and the rail corridor goes off without a hitch. It's a depressing finale to say the least...until those last five minutes, when Ani tells the tale to a reporter and leaves all the documents proving the grand conspiracy with him, which left me happy because...justice would at last be served. Plus it also turns out that Ray's son is genetically his through and through and that he fathered another child with Ani and well...holy hell we got us a happy ending. Not exactly the one I think we all hoped for, but we got one none the less. I have to say I thought this was a pretty solid finale. Justice was served, which was a big deal for me because wow...the bad guys in this season were simply deplorable and disgusting. All the answers of this grand mystery were answered which it's always nice to see the storyline wrapped up, it's just a shame Frank and Ray didn't make it out. These were two men so close to redemption it was ridiculous, but alas I know it was never meant to be. Season two of True Detective was all about karma and everyone who did major wrong to others received their own taste of karma in kind and well...Frank and Ray had enough bad karma to last ten lifetimes. I guess Ray was right earlier in the season when he said "we get the world we deserve", and while Ray and Frank didn't get a better one, at least the awful men of Vinci...will get the world they deserve. Until next time.

After harmlessly knocking out the smaller man, Glenn comes up with a plan to stall their impending doom and after the two friends continue to beat the heck out of each other, they see an opening and are able to secure a weapon. But the warlord’s men are not afraid of dying and are ready to pull the trigger on the Navy men when an unexpected group raids the village. Thinking that the Taliban has found their hiding spot, the warlord and his men flee for their lives, but what they do not know is that this group is much more dangerous since it is Interpol. Searching for Vanessa and Martin, the Interpol group is happy to rescue the downed pilots as well and return them back to their ship. Alex Talbot is trying his hardest to find a way to get the girls out of the embassy without anyone finding out. Smoking weed with Rafiq, Alex tells him about his hidden tunnel that he has used to sell weed to his friend at the Chinese embassy. Traveling through the depths of the city to find the door, Alex’s friend agrees with the deal and is ready to take all of the credit for freeing the Pakistani girls before the mad general can do so. Relaying the message to Fareeda, Alex is starting to be seen more as a selfless man than the pompous man that was his first impression. Rafiq is starting to believe in him now as well and although the two were somewhat friends going into this, they have become best of friends and will do anything for each other, or so they think. With a new pilot taking over his travel arraignments, Walter Larson has to come up with a plan to confront Raja before getting back to the United States. Faking a problem with his emergency surgery, Walter is able to get the plane to land in Switzerland. Bypassing the trip to the hospital, Walter heads to the hotel where Raja was last seen and is able to find out the general’s room number. Having a one on one talk with Raja, Walter is able to convince the future leader of Pakistan to move forward with the plan that they had devised, but everything has to come with a price as Walter finds out that Alex’s negotiation skills need much refining. Being able to convince Raja to return to his country, Walter is feeling sound about his plan, but when he walks into the war room he sees that the coup has been cut short as a smart bomb has just annihilated the President's Palace. With all of attempts to get things done the right way, they have all fallen to pot in this episode. Alex was trying to do the right thing by getting the girls to safety before something bad happened to them, but after receiving a call from Walter, he is forced to keep them there. Walter is able to convince his old college buddy Raja to move forward with the coup, but when Raja takes over the country, he is killed in a military strike that was meant for his half-brother. Now with Zaman safe and sound, he will probably still retain his power of Pakistan and who knows what he will want to do next. Zeke and Glenn will be safe on their carrier once again, but not knowing that his new baby’s momma called his ex-wife in his absence, Zeke will be getting an earful from both women, as he said earlier, he will never be Batman. It is hard to look away from this series since things continue to get worse and we are all waiting to see what will happen when the bombs start to fall. Written by ScottyTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...Nothing in life is easy, even when it seems that way. There is always something that will keep you from accomplishing your goal and the only way to combat that is to continue looking forward. It is hard to imagine that even a simple task may be made into something so much worse when something goes wrong, but if you are willing to face it head on, the repercussions are much easier to deal with. If you keep moving forward and don’t let the speed bumps get in your way, the drive of life is so much easier to take. Joe has been able to work his magic with Maximo to get the pictures of Vernon back for a hundred and fifty grand, but now there is a wrinkle in the deal. As the woman that owns the pictures wants a sit down with Spencer, along with the money. Spencer will not bow down to this since now he is starting to figure out what really caused this to happen. With this being the money out of his pocket again, Spencer is showing Vernon how hard it is to be one the best in the game while keeping his noise clean from these types of incidents. While Vernon may or may not be taking notes from the old veteran, he knows he has a brother in arms, but it looks like his refusal to meet with the woman will keep him from becoming one of the highest paid players in the game. Ricky is on his own and trying to find a way to get Bella to come back to him. Without her to keep an eye on him, he cannot concentrate, much less understand why he misses her so much. While talking to Charles about his problems, Ricky is finally starting to understand that he may need Bella much more than he is willing to admit. Talking with her sister, Ricky finds out where his love will be that night and just wants to talk to her, but when he sees Bella dancing with the Bird Man, all bets are off. Starting another altercation, Ricky is pulled away from the crowd by his friends and heads back to his ‘fun house’ to blow off some steam, but he knows that he is not a complete man without his woman. Jason has been put into a compromising position as his mother has just found herself a new boyfriend. Summoning her son to the house, Jason is blown away to see that his mother is dating a man half her age. As the conversation continues over dinner, Jason takes his shots at the young man, but when the subject of needing an agent comes up, that is the only thing that sticks in Jason’s mind. Playing it hard on his mother, Jason tries to get the couple to break up, but when he walks in on them doing their business, he sees that it is not his decision to make. Taking his father’s golf clubs out to the range, Jason gives his father the tribute that he deserved with a cigar, a drink and long drives. Julie has asked Bella to join her so she can drop some knowledge about Ricky for her friend, but Bella is not too surprised. But when Julie tells her about the ‘fun house’, Bella’s eyes are opened and she is starting to believe that Ricky may not be the right man for her. Needing a real drink, the girls plan a night out without the men and land in a Cuban bar that offers great drinks, music and dancing. Bella finds herself dancing with the Bird Man and even though she is having fun and blowing off some steam, it is short lived when Ricky arrives on the scene. As she drops the bombshell that she now knows about the ‘fun house’ to her ex, she is sick of playing second fiddle to everyone else in Ricky’s life and is looking to move on. Even with work high on his radar, Spencer has also been tasked with something else that he does not really want to do. After talking with Rodney’s widow Tina, Spencer is now in charge of finding a final resting place for his ashes. Not having a clue what to do with them, he calls up Charles and the two head out to come up with a plan for their fallen friend. After much plenty of discussion about the good times, and how that might have ended Rodney’s life prematurely, the two decide to take him to the only pure place they could think of. Pouring Rodney’s ashes out on his old high school football field, the two men agree that it was the purest time in their lives while playing the game and hope that their old friend would be proud. This episode was just bouncing all over the place and I will say wow. We get to learn a little bit more about Jason and what he is dealing with while not being an agent and it is not an easier life from what I can tell. Spencer has his hands full with his client/friends that are getting out of control for no other reason than him not watching their backs. Even though they say they are listening to him, it is apparent that there is too much emotion to make a wise decision, no matter who it is. I did enjoy the ending of the episode this week as Charles has come clean about wanting to play football again, since he only feels complete while on the field. This may cause an issue with him and his wife when all is said and done, but once he makes up his mind, I am pretty sure it is going to be difficult to convince him otherwise. Written by John Edward BetancourtTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...At one point or another we have all heard the phrase that money is the root of all evil. I remember hearing that phrase more when I was a child and well, when you're young you completely and utterly believe it. After all, we don't quite understand evil as kids, but as True Detective proved last night, that phrase is just a phrase. In fact last night's episode, "Black Maps and Motel Rooms" was the big one we have been waiting for. After weeks of trying to figure out the conspiracy, the truth was at last revealed to all of us, and a few surprises as well came into play, not to mention, holy cow that ending. I mean seriously, that ending. That was one that left me sitting in my seat with my jaw dropped to the floor. But before we get to that, let's discuss exactly what's been going on behind the scenes all this time. First and foremost, we learned that it would appear every single person involved in this conspiracy from the elected officials at least, all have ties back to the 1992 Los Angeles Riots. Caspere, Dixon, the list goes on and on. Every single one of them were part of the Los Angeles Police Department and many of them found their way into cush jobs in Vinci following the riots. Slowly and surely they have put together a massive plan to be rich, rich men. Making more cash than they could ever imagine with this land grab and whatever they have planned for it. With the truth now in hand, our intrepid detectives have to go into hiding. After all, these are powerful men who are no doubt on the hunt for the people who have information that could put them away forever. But before they do, Ani and Paul secure their families and Ray fills in Frank, leading Frank to finally confront Blake and learn the truth. It turns out almost all of Frank's crew minus one is on the take from the Russians and they are planning to take everything from Frank. It also turns out that Blake was the one that fed the bad info regarding who harmed Ray's wife all those years ago, leading Frank to handle Blake and then handle his businesses, robbing them blind and leaving the Russians with nothing but scorched earth. The stakes are simply getting higher in this show, I mean hey, our baddies even killed Davis, and there were two other big nuggets that we still need to discuss, the fact that now we know the shootout in Vinci was indeed a trap after all designed to clear up this mess, and that the innocent office clerk we met early on in the season...may indeed be one of the orphaned twins from the 1992 L.A. Riots, and potentially the one who took down Caspere. But all of that aside, we still need to talk about that stunning ending. Yes, the grand tragedy of the night came by way of Paul's storyline. Someone was texting him the entire episode with pictures of his affair with Miguel and well, it led to something terrifying...a confrontation with Holloway, and Miguel for that matter since as it turns out, Paul's lover has been working for the bad guys after all. It led to a shootout and an escape that appeared to have Paul in the clear. Save for the fact that Detective Burris was waiting for him...and well, we lost Paul. So that's where we are now. One dead detective, an incredible conspiracy that seems to be motivated by money but if you ask me, it's motivated by revenge and a disdain for what happened in the riots, it just seems like money is the root of all evil here. I say that because, while the money would be nice, there are clearly plenty of other ways for these men to be rich. Frank for example fed plenty of money into Vinci's city leadership. No it really seems that these men were as disgusted by the riots as the officer that Paul interviewed and this seems to be their way of sticking it to a system that failed everyone at the time. The only questions remaining now are exactly who did kill Ben Caspere? How will Ani and Ray bring all these corrupt pieces of crap to justice and how far will Frank go to exact his own revenge on everyone that burned him? We'll just have to wait one more week to get the answers and I can't to see everything wrap up on the season two finale next Sunday. Until then. Written by ScottyTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...Some things just don’t get any better, which is what Walter Larson is starting to find out. After being ordered by the President to return Stateside as soon as possible, Walter is still hoping to find out what happened to his guy Raja. With no help from anyone else that works in the state department, Walter is surprised to see that his wife is working for his nemesis Pierce. Even though Joanne does not want to help with whatever Walter’s next plan is going to be, she is able to get him a location of the coup leader so possibly a happy medium can be found and the crazy General Zaman can still be removed from power. In the embassy, Alex Talbot/Uncle Creepy is able to get the girls from Fareeda’s school tucked away from harm, but what he does not know about is why the Ambassador is allowing them to stay. That changes when Kittredge calls Talbot into his office and tells the recent over achiever about a dream, maybe it was a vision that he had seen during the week and that the seven girls will be their ride into the heavens when the world comes to an end. Knowing that Kittredge is off of his rocker, Alex tries to take the girls to safety before it is too late, but finds out that the embassy is on lock down. Not knowing what is happening in the outside world, Alex walks in to the Ambassador’s office and finds out that the tweets that the girls sent out while in the building has led to trouble that may leave the embassy in pieces. Zeke and Glenn are still under the care and protection of Martin and Vanessa, but are having a hard time figuring out what is really happening. Without a way to escape the thief’s paradise, all they want is to use a phone so they can get retrieved, but the two Brits have something different in store for the pilots. Trying to get the two Navy men to role play with Vanessa, a darker side seems to come out of Martin as he shoots Zeke in the chest with an old musket. Although Zeke is ok since the ball did not make it through the old conquistador armor he was wearing, he is still very peeved at the man, but he is not the only one when Martin and Vanessa start their own battle. Shooting her husband in the leg with a crossbow, Vanessa has to load everyone into the car and get him some help. Arriving in a warlord’s village, Zeke and Glenn think that their troubles might be over, but when the son of the warlord enters the building and sees the man that broke his nose a couple days ago, the two pilots appear to be right back where they stared. I must admit that I fear the worst for Walter Larson this week as he has been blindsided by his wife taking a job under Pierce. Without being able to find out what is really happening with his coup leader Raja leaving the country and now this, it is fantastic to see how he keeps it together, but his reins are being tightened by the President, so his normal tactics might not work on his plane ride home. Alex is just the creepy uncle now, but his intentions are good. Even Fareeda is starting to notice a difference in him, but not enough to fall for…just yet. And Rafiq may end up beating up Alex if he actually touches Fareeda, or worse tell her about all of the crazy things the man has done. Now with the lock down happening in the embassy, Alex has to prove his worth once again, since the new treats coming his way are directly his fault for giving the girls the Wi-Fi password. Zeke and Glenn seem to catch bad break over bad break now, but they are strong enough to get what they want or need. Glenn was even ready to have relations with a married woman with her husband watching and filming. But now, it is going to have to fall on Zeke as he is the one that broke the warlord’s son’s nose and with guns pointed at the pilots, they will have to find away once again to escape. It seems like everything is falling apart around the world, but there are just a few people trying to hold it together, but those people are on the outs with their superiors, so the rogues might be our only saviors. Written by ScottyTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...Most people seem to be afraid of being their own person and the biggest reason for that is not because they stand out from the crowd, but they are pointed out by others. Other people’s opinions about us changes the way we act and live our life. It is scary, but it is true and so many people have to hide themselves from the world for fear of what others will think about them. If you have changed what you do and who you are to make other people like you, it can lead to worse things, especially when you let your true colors come out on occasion. Be your own person and the people that judge you for not fitting their mold will hold no part in your life and you will find that your daily activities become much easier and you become much happier as well. Charles Greane is having a tough go of it right now. After walking out on his wife, he needs someone to talk to and turns to his buddy Ricky. Ricky has a little fun house where he likes to relax when away from the game and his girlfriend and even though he does not think this is the best move for Charles, he lets his good friend stay there for the time being. But when experiencing a little bit of freedom, Charles finds out that this is far from what he wanted. After getting word that Julie has found the fun house and was looking to find him, Charles tries to run and hide from his wife, but does not understand his own actions. Asking to come back home, Julie allows him the opportunity, but Charles will have to find out who and what he really wants to be when he is there. Joe and his new favorite lawyer Max are spending their afternoon at the track. With drinking and negotiating being Joe’s strong suit, his real purpose is to drive the price down on the Vernon Littlefield pictures since there is no way five hundred grand will be possible, especially with the defensive lineman’s contract extension on hold. After a round of mojitos, the two are able to come to a new price of a hundred and fifty grand, but Max will still have to get approval from his client before a deal can be finalized. Spencer has been putting on a good show with his ex-girlfriend Theresa, but she can still tell when he is lying about not getting his MRI. As Spencer comes clean about why he is afraid of what they may find when scanning him, the phone cuts out she misses his admission. Not wanting to repeat it, Spencer is caught up in another fiasco as Ricky’s MILF is starting to talk with TMZ about what the football player likes in bed. But Spencer has an ace in the hole that he is ready to pull out when the story hits that will put Ricky in a better light and might actually make him a hero instead of a sideshow mother-lover. Ricky is deep in trouble again as his ex has taken their relationship to the press. Although he did not do anything wrong and has even befriended his former foe Alonzo, he is still in the crosshairs of the press. With the news of the locker room fight, along with Alonzo’s mother talking to TMZ about their past, Ricky is called in by the team and told that they will not have his back, he will need to take care of the issue on his own. When Spencer is able to get the slot receiver an interview with Jay Glazer, Ricky gets cold feet right before going on but his friend Spencer is able to calm him down. Just needing to be himself, Ricky lets out a side of himself to the media that he has never shown once before during his career. With the new side of Ricky now being in the public eye, everyone will start to look at him differently and maybe even get some extra respect shot his way, but there is one person that is done giving him second chances as his girlfriend has left the house and wants nothing to do with him. Everything is starting to come around full circle. When the negative of Ricky’s actions are shown to the world, he is able to make a statement of his own to make it better, but keeping secrets from Bella has caught up with him and now he will have to fight his battles on his own. Charles is trying to figure out who he is once again when he questions his own motives of trying to run and hide from his wife. Not being in football anymore is playing tricks on the former offensive lineman and he needs to do everything within his power to make his marriage work. Although Spencer is trying to keep his clients out of trouble, he is starting to find out that taking care of himself should be on the top of his priority list and even though he is concerned about the results he will get back from his MRI, he knows that it is the right thing to do. It is hard to even think about what will happen in the next episode since so much just went down, but what I can see happening is that Vernon will not get back his pictures for the cheaper price, there might need to be something added to deal that is more than money. Bella is going to find out everything that Ricky has been doing outside of their relationship and I will hate to see what the blow back is on that because of how much Ricky has been able to utilize her family for help. Well that is all for last week, I cannot wait to see what will happen tonight when more of the storylines start to get tied up. |
