Written by ScottyEveryone wants to believe that their children are special and why not? They are your kids and the world is being put in front of them to conquer, but what if you child was born with a special ability that would render them different? As a parent, you would like to see them fit in with the rest of the crowd and not be tormented or abused by anyone. These places can be difficult to find, but once you find at least one person you can trust, that may be more than enough to make the decision to move your life to a new location, if for nothing else, to see your child grow up happy. Peter Sandza knows that his son is special and wants to find the best place for him to grow up. With help from his friend Ben Childress, Peter has found out that there is a place where his son Robin will be able to be taught and trained in the ways of his old man. But not everything is as it seems when the father and son are ambushed by terrorists and forced to separate. While Robin watches as his father takes care of the threat, he sees the thing that would cause most kids to lose it, his father is blown up in the attack. Being put into custody by Childress, Robin never sees his father return from the ashes and try to take revenge on his oldest friend. Gillian Bellaver is getting prepared for her upcoming final and knows that she is ready for the names portion of the test, just not the dates. But that matters little when she attends a class that is dealing with the forces of the mind. Watching as brain waves are able to power an electric train around the tracks, Gillian takes her turn at it and the train never moves faster. Knowing that she has something special that would like to be studied, Gillian is taken into a special school where she can try to hone in on her special talent, but when she is told about Robin Sandza, her powers start to spiral out of control. Robin has been tested on for over ten months and his powers are growing at an alarming rate. With his mind putting out enough energy to rival an atomic bomb, the doctors are more than happy with his progress. But Robin is losing his fun loving self and keeping his emotions in check has become a thing of the past. Knowing that he is being trained to be a weapon, Robin also knows that he can be replaced and when Gillian starts to invade his mind, he knows who the replacement is. Trying to keep himself from being disposed of, Robin takes the next steps in his training to become more powerful so no member of the normal human race can stop him. But little does Robin know that Gillian along with his father Peter are trying to find him and free him of the torment he has been putting up with for several months. With his childhood well into his past, will Robin be able to free his mind from what he has been taught to focus on, or has he fully become the killing machine that a secret government agency wanted him to be. This is a great sci-fi/thriller from the late seventies that I would recommend anyone that likes the genre to watch. It is a little dated, but the storyline is good and the characters are more than loveable…for the most part. I really liked watching as Robin slowly loses himself and becomes the man the government wants him to be, while Gillian is starting to discover her gift and begins to grow into it. As far as my favorite character goes, I want to say Gillian, but I have to go with Robin for one reason, he goes from mild mannered to pure psycho in a matter of seconds. Not knowing how I would respond if my mind was toyed with and being programmed into something else, it might happen just that way. Sometimes the oldies catch you off guard and this one did that for me. Happy Viewing.
