Nerds That Geek Movie Review: 'Jurassic Park III'

Once you are able to find that one person you can trust, make sure to never let them go. As life changes and your friendships start to fade away, it is always good to try to keep in touch, no matter what life is putting on your plate. It can be difficult to keep the same relationship you had in your younger years, but everyone understands that life changes people, but as long as you try to make sure they are still your friends, they will be there for you when you need them. With the way social sites have spawned a new form of relationships, even friending or following them has been made easier and even if you are not directing anything towards them, they are able to keep up with your story and see what life changes have come your way and vice versa.

Paul and Amanda Kirby are beside themselves trying to find a way to organize a search party to find their son who went missing two months ago. Without being able to get any help from the Costa Rican or United States governments, they have taken it upon themselves to get a team together and search the dinosaur infested island of Isla Sorna. As Paul starts feeling around for people to help, he knows that nobody can say no to money and he starts throwing it around like it is going out of style. Hiring a couple mercs, Paul must next find someone that has been on the island and can think of no one better than the famed Dr. Alan Grant.

Dr. Grant has been running into problems of his own. Since his second book has been published and his distrust of dinosaurs have become more mainstream, he still has to battle for funding for his dig site. Not willing to lecture about what happened in the original Jurassic Park, and not wanting to get pulled into the situation that hit San Diego, it is more and more difficult to get backers. However with his research, Grant has been diving in deeper into what the Raptors were capable of and finding out that they were the most intelligent animals on the planet, he is keeping his focus on them. With help from one of his students, Billy, Grant is able to see more inside of the head of the beast and is even able to make a mockup of its resonation chamber. 

Once meeting with the Kirby’s, Dr. Grant and Billy agree to be the tour guides as such, despite the fact that Grant never visited this particular island, but what they don’t know is that the Kirby’s have alternative motives. Wanting to find their son Eric, they land on the forbidden island and start their own search. Not knowing anything about the creatures that inhabit the island, they are shocked to see everything that is coming their way. With Dr. Grant and Billy being the only ones that truly understand how to survive in the terrain, the Kirby’s must listen to them and come up with a plan on how to get rescued. With the large carnivores chasing them at every step, Dr. Grant is able to locate young Eric and needs to find a way to get out to the coast. Although the plan may not be a sound one, it is the best one they have and as long as everyone stays quiet and unseen by the predators, they should not have a problem. But the best laid plans are the ones that are never followed through on as they are on the dinosaur’s island and not the other way around.

Until a couple of years ago, this was the final installment of the Jurassic Park saga, and it was a fine send off. With Dr. Grant coming back and searching for a boy out of the kindness of his heart, he has grown into the parent that you never would have expected from the first movie, since Grant is the one that everyone wants to look up to.The Kirbys are able to discover something about themselves during their adventure and start to understand that true love can never be broken, even if they are fighting all of the time. As everyone starts to find themselves as they are running for their lives, all of the lies are forgiven and they have only one thing to focus on, survival.  Well, until the next one, a little bit of knowledge can take you a long way, as long as you are willing to use it.
