Written by Scott EdwardsIt is important to know what you want out of life. Whether it is becoming the top dog at your job, staying at home and spending time with your family, or being with the one that you love, you need to feel it in your bones. It is not a question that you have to answer right this second, but when the dinner bell comes ringing, you should not have any regrets on how you lived your life. With so many things happening on a daily basis, it is easy to lose sight of what you really want, so it is good to keep an eye your prize, no matter what it is. April is getting ready for a long weekend at her parent's cabin with her boyfriend Kyle when she gets a call from her father. As her parents have gotten divorced, her father wants her to pick up a couple of things for him while she is taking pictures of the estate. April knows she can get it all done and wants to have a talk with Kyle about their future while being away from everybody, but Kyle has a surprise for her when the buzzer in the apartment goes off. Melanie, Seth and Lex will be joining the happy couple on their little excursion and even though April is not happy about it, they are all welcome to come along for the ride. When driving up the abandoned street, Seth is shooting fireworks out of the sunroof causing the group to get pulled over by the local sheriff. Telling the kids to behave may not be enough for the law dog, but that is all he can do and wants to know if they know anything about the strange happenings going on in town. Being let off with a warning, the group finds the cabin and their party time starts in full effect. Wanting to be alone with April for a minute, Kyle takes her up to the bedroom and gets down on bended knee to propose. April does not know what to say, but she cannot accept the proposal since she still has so much of her life to live and does not want to have any regrets. With all of their friends standing outside of the door to celebrate the engagement, they are all shocked about what happened and continue to get drunk, but for alternate reasons. As April is trying to explain her thinking to Kyle outside, a ball of fire flies over the cabin and crashes in the distance. Wanting to investigate, the group piles into the car and pulls up to the wreckage to find that it is a UFO. Wanting to get out of the area, they stumble across footprints that are leading back towards the cabin. Not knowing what to expect, the power goes out and when they all go down to the basement to reset the breaker, they hear footsteps above their heads and know that they are not alone. Shooting the alien, the group rushes out of the cabin looking for safety and wind up at Travis’ house down the road. Hearing a farfetched story about how the government and aliens have a treaty, the group does not believe a word of it, but when he mentions that first blood has been spilt, they all know they are in for a long night. Needing to find a place to hide, the group is picked off one by one and there is next to no way to survive the invasion, unless of course, the government comes to help them. I don’t know why, but I am into alien invasion movies right now and don’t feel bad about it. They are fun and usually the problems all persist from the human race being too frightened about what is happening to take note that the invaders are not looking to harm them. Could that be the case in this movie? You will just have to watch and come up with your own conclusions as there are stories in the area of people being abducted and not returned. I am a huge fan of the opening of the movie, when a phone booth is taken away and returned without the caller inside, classic scare. You might have to ask yourself what you would do when Mr. Grey comes out of the heavens and starts to roam around you home. Will you try to fight him off, knowing that he has better technology than we will ever have, or will you try to communicate with him and hope that he comes in peace? Happy Viewing.
