Written by Scott EdwardsOnce you have your mind set on accomplishing something, can you let it go if it cannot be done? There are people that are willing to give up on what they wanted to do for many reasons, but the main one is that it is just too hard. But there are others that are able to stick with it and keep their drive moving forward no matter what obstacles get put in their way. These are the people that will stop at nothing until they get it done, and for the most part they are the ones that you might want to follow, but if you see a flaw in their path, you may just become a speed bump along the way. Rumpelstiltskin is trying to take over his realm by utilizing his power to create an army larger than anyone can battle. Killing Snow White’s husband, he utilizes the mirror on the wall to be transported to modern day, but without being able to get back to his home, he has made a new one. Becoming the mayor of the city, Rumpelstiltskin has found a happy medium of power and respect and being able to coax mortals into doing what he wants them to, he has become next to unstoppable. Snow White is on the hunt for her husband’s killer, but needs assistance before she will be able to take him down. Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Rapunzel are trying to locate their queen, but the castle is empty, or so they think. When The Wolf comes out of the shadows holding Red hostage, he threatens to kill the girl unless the others are able to activate the mirror and send him to his master. As a fight takes place, the group is transported to present day, but the mirror is destroyed in the process leaving them trapped in an unfamiliar place. The princesses are out of their realm, but their powers still work against the mortals as well and even though Red has her own mission in mind, the others need to find their queen. As Snow White picks them up from an alley corner, she informs the women about what is happening, along with what will happen if Rumpelstiltskin gains control of the last remaining piece of the magic mirror. Since Red is on her own hunting down The Wolf, the princesses have their own plan on how to stop the tyrant from taking over the world, but they have to find a way to get into the heavily protected city hall. With the police force on his side, Rumpelstiltskin knows that any attempt on his life will come up short, but still has to worry about the princesses’ presence in his new time. Being able to track down a group of men that have eluded his power, Iron John gets called into his service, but not as a normal man, but as an Iron Man. As the search for the mirror fragment takes place, both sides know that it will be a battle for the ages and there may be more casualties than expected. As Red gets turned to Rumpelstiltskin’s side, the princesses need to find a way to break her free of the spell, before the portal between realms is opened and an army of great numbers comes to take over the earth. Fairytale princesses versus one of the most hated Grimm characters ever written, what could be better than that? I must admit that I got lost several times in this movie since the princesses all hold some sort of power that I never knew they possessed. But hey, it is a fun way to look at how the world would change if fairytales came to life during our time. Did I like one princess above the rest? I did like that Cinderella kicked some serious butt in this movie and even though her powers were not hugely highlighted, she was great in all aspects, but Rapunzel’s hair had to be my favorite weapon as she was able to take full advantage of its length and strength. This is a fun movie and makes me want to read the Grimm stories once again, just to see if I really missed this much since my youth. Happy Viewing.
