Written by ScottySometimes all you need in life is a fresh start. A new name, a new home, a new city, a new job. A new outlook on life and overall, a new you. Some people are able to turn their lives around and come out better when they do, but if you are able to do this, would you forget who you really are, or would it still be hiding out somewhere in the back of your mind? Paul Maguire is living his life to the fullest. He has the perfect wife, a great career and a wonderful daughter who he cares greatly about. With everything running the way it should be in his life, Paul has taken to focusing on his daughter Caitlin’s life and wants her to steer clear of all of life’s obstacles to make sure she does not fall into the bad crowd. Even though Caitlin is a great student, she has the wild side that her father fears. Keeping it in check and hanging out with people who appear to be a good group of friends, she is able to get nights alone in the house with them, no questions asked. When Paul and his wife head out to have dinner with the new state controller, his greatest fear comes to light. Getting a special visit from the police captain at dinner, Paul finds out that his daughter has been kidnapped and no one knows a thing. Trying to get information from his daughter’s friends, Paul has no luck and has to pull back into his old life and ask around, the hard way. Paul’s two best friends, Danny and Francis are ready to do anything to find his daughter and at any cost. Working their normal sources and coming up dry, Paul is shocked to find out his daughter has been killed with an old Russian Luger. Pulling his past back to the present, Paul has to go back down the road that he vowed never to go again when his daughter was born. Rage follows Paul Maguire as he is put into a situation that only he can find a resolution for. With his daughter being kidnapped, Paul and his wife have no faith in the police response and Paul will take it upon his self to find out who is behind it. Asking his oldest friends, gang members, for help, Paul turns back to his old days of being a ‘made’ man and starts asking everyone around town what they know. When his daughter is found dead, Paul is told to lay off of his search for the killer and let it lie, but Paul is not willing to allow the deed to go unpunished. Finding out that an old Russian Luger was used in the death of his little girl, Paul starts kicking in doors of all the Russian gangs around town and starts a war to avenge the loss of his daughter. I will admit that I am not huge into gangster movies, but every once in a while one catches my eye. Was it just Nicholas Cage that attracted me to this film? Yes. But there is plenty more in the movie that entertains just as much as good old NC. With plenty of action when Maguire starts his hunt around town, you really get the feel of losing a child and you are left asking yourself, if you lost your child, how far would you go to make things right, even if you don’t have all of the information that you need? Happy Viewing!
