Written by ScottyWith all of the faith we put into our technology, it would be amazing to see what would happen if it all went down. I am not praying for a doomsday or anything like that, but I do believe that with everything we are handing off to computers to make our lives easier, it may be a good wakeup call to see something go down so we will have to take over some of the things that we have handed off. With everything that has been going on with hackers being able to open up data bases that are very restricted, it would be a very scary scenario to see what would happen if all of our lives are controlled by a group of people that are able to gain access to one of our more vital systems. As the skies continues to fill up with airplanes, collisions are not out of the ordinary and the government is looking for a way to end the chances of human error. Bringing the ACAT to life for the civilian circuit seems like the best idea, as the military has been using it for years with zero issues. Although several people are against one program running the skies, it is not up to them to make the final decision as the government has laid down their directives to make the skies a safe place to fly once again. But something has malfunctioned with the satellite causing all of its orbiting friends to be forced down on Earth. Knowing that there is a problem, a regional air traffic controller is trying to take the system off line, as the debris form space is not only causing issues in populated areas, but to the planes in the air as well. With the impending threat, Air Force One is launched to keep the president safe, but being tied to the same system that seems to be malfunctioning, he may not be any better off than everyone else in the sky. As the ACAT satellite continues to malfunction, basic communications are shut down in the air and the planes are experiencing system issues from an EMP like signal that is being sent down from space. With their equipment being rendered useless, the pilots are on their own to find the final destination, but when a passenger plane and the president’s plane are flying directly towards each other without even knowing it, the old air traffic controller has to find a way to save all of the people from impending doom. Air Collision follows two planes as they are heading straight towards each other when all of their equipment has failed. Flying blind, the pilots are forced to try to see any threats out of the cockpit windows, but it is not enough when the human eye can only see so far. When the ACAT system that was designed to keep the skies free and clear of any of these types of incidents starts to malfunction, there is no way to override it. In the commercial industry it is only designed to give directions, but on the president’s plane, it does much more as it is a military program and will do everything in its power to make sure that the Head of State is protected, at all costs. Needing to find a way to divert the planes from a head on collision, one air traffic controller is forced to think outside of the box to find a way to communicate with the two planes and although he was right about the system being a bad idea, he does not have time to prove that he was right, since there are many lives hanging in the balance. A sad look at how the people that actually do the hard jobs never get a chance to be heard by the higher ups, at least not until disaster strikes. With three different groups that you have to follow in the is movie, it is not a bad way to tell the story as each group has their own methods of making it work. I did not know what to expect from the movie as these are either a hit or miss, but I did find that I enjoyed the emotions that were put forth by the actors. With their lives on the line, it was great to see how different people would respond to it, and although you might have some characters that you do not like on the plane, it just means that they did their jobs perfectly. Happy Viewing.
