One particular concept that we hold in high regard in this life, is image. Because somewhere along the line, we as a society decided how we are viewed in the public eye, especially if we choose a life of fame, should matter above all things… and well… that’s led to a lot of sorrow in our lives. Because it prompts us to worry about things that in the end, aren’t as important as we would like to think. Simply because so many people are oblivious to much outside of their own worries and pay our image less mind than we think. But it’s also problematic because it really has created some vapid industries and some vapid realities in our world, and it’s prompted people… to do awful things in the name of maintaining a perfect and flawless image. To the point where some people go to extremes to maintain every aspect of it. From buying people off to preserve how they are viewed, to undergoing extensive medical procedures to maintain how the public perceives them. Which does leave us wondering now and again, just how far are people willing to go to maintain image? And as it turns out, that’s a question that the next episode of The Madame Blanc Mysteries on Acorn TV was eager to explore. For the next chapter in Jean’s adventures as a private investigator, brought forth a unique case involving a true music legend. For Dura, the master of progressive tunes, was using a revamped section of Jeremy’s property to record his first new album in ages. Until he died, under very odd circumstances. Because he passed away courtesy of sonic pain without anyone else in the room, and well… that more or less made it seem as though, this was nothing more than a horrible accident. But something about this death didn’t sit right with Jean. Because so much didn’t quite add up, and looking at Dura’s life, his finances and everything in between only added to the concerns Jean harbored in her heart about the matter and well… with some fine digging… she came to realize… that this was indeed a murder case. One that was grounded in the concept of image and the need to preserve that above all. For she came to learn that image was everything to Dura and that there was a fair chance, this death was related to imagery as well. For in the prime of Dura’s career, there was a mantra out there that he could not age and could never appear to his fans as anything other than the visage he assembled for marketing years ago. And once Jean learned this and saw a few surprise tattoos present on a sound engineer’s body, who was helping Dura compose this new album, did she come to realize that Dura was alive and well. In fact, he was the sound engineer and did all of this for some money and to preserve his image. Because the real Dura, aged as we all do, and could not reconcile showing this different image of himself to his fans, so he hired a ringer, and ‘died’, to retire and step away from the public life with a little bit of bread in his pocket. That is… until Jean exposed him and sent him to jail. All of which hammered home, how much we cherish image in this life, and how far people might go to preserve it at all costs. That made this a tragic murder case grounded in the nonsense of the world because image is indeed a construct that only a handful truly value. But alas, Dura learned that too late, and paid the price and that, and one other surprise made for an engaging tale. One that featured a great lesson and set the stage for the season two finale in quite the incredible manner. Since Barbara’s plan kicked into overdrive here, one that could cause Jean great harm, and it will be interesting to see if Jean can stop this before it gets started as season two of this refreshing series comes a close. Until next time. Watch ‘The Madame Blanc Mysteries’
