One thing that we can all agree upon, is that everyone on this planet is looking for the perfect love affair, one that is storybook in nature. Where we meet ‘the one’ and immediately connect and quickly find ourselves surrounded by the wonder of love and everything it does for our souls. So, we constantly set out to find that, and sadly… only tend to find struggles and strife in our search. Simply because… the storybook love affair just doesn’t exist. For in reality, real love requires work and hardships, and patience and even timing in some cases, and that is a hard lesson to learn, and that lesson is top of mind today, simply because it was put on display in the next episode of Grand Crew on NBC. For ‘Wine & Labels’ is a story that saw Noah… take part in that pursuit for the storybook relationship. Because he truly saw the eleventh hour save of Simone’s visa… as the sign that a storybook love had fallen into his lap. In fact, having Simone around and being able to spend time with her and feel that energy… only added to that belief. One that was being chipped away at, courtesy of Courtney. Who was the third wheel everywhere they went, and he made some of the wonderful moments rough, and that prompted Noah to try and use a lawyer that Wyatt recommended to speed up the whole citizenship matter so Simone could divorce Courtney and be with Noah. Which would have been… storybook in nature. But alas, that lawyer, cost a lot of money, and the more affordable lawyer that Noah settled on… screwed everything up. To the point where Simone and Courtney had to move in together since their marriage as flagged as a sham. Which meant that if he wanted his storybook wedding, Noah had to play nice with Courtney and connect and add to the majesty of this story. Which he managed to do, but all for naught. Since eventually, Courtney professed his love for Simone and his hope that she would choose him instead and when she did not, the divorce was finalized, and she was headed home. An unfortunate twist that made that hard lesson clear to Noah and left him beside himself since he hadn’t a clue what to do next. Which made for quite the powerful episode, one that in true Grand Crew fashion, reflected life and the ups and downs we learn, and the realism didn’t end there. Since Anthony’s relationship journey showed us a man that had far more realistic expectations of what love looks like, helping to remind us that in reality… a love for the ages is something that is built upon and worked upon, and we will experience plenty of failure before we find the one that truly lifts us up. But while those storylines make it seem as though this episode was grounded in drama; the comedy stuff was still there. Because the whole awkward nature of the Courtney situation offered up a lot of laughs and of course… we’d be foolish to not talk about Sherm’s plan to sell his own brand of wine. Because… his lack of knowledge on how to bottle new wine, led a bevy of hilarious moments. The kind that saw Sherm check in on his buddies round the clock to see if Botulism took hold and featured one amazing inner monologue for laughs. All of which culminated into some incredible comedy at Wyatt’s disaster of a potluck. Which of course, balanced out the powerful life lessons in this episode, one that served to remind us of the sheer genius of this show. Because it really is the perfect blend of comedy and light drama, the kind we instantly relate to. Courtesy of moments we’ve experienced, since we’ve all learned what Noah did here, or will… but probably not in the really weird way he did… but that aside, having that balance makes for a lovely half hour of television, and it will be interesting to see what life journeys await us as season two of this wondrous show continues along. Until next time.
