There are moments in life, where darkness and sorrow consumes us and it makes sense as to why. For the world can be a genuinely cruel place. Where we find ourselves, both hurt and stunned and when that happens, no amount of advice or suggestions to keep our heads up can help us. Because at that point, we are hurt, we are damaged and stewing in the darkness and the funk that follows it seems like the only way forward. But of course, we eventually come out of it, seemingly overnight for some, when in reality… it takes a few key steps to finally remove us from that which is holding our soul back. And it just so happens that those steps are top of mind today, simply because they were featured in the next episode of Echo 3 on Apple TV+. For when we catch up with Bambi and Prince in ‘Habeas Thumpus’, both men are at their lowest because of their failure to bring Amber home. Which has driven Bambi to basically drink himself stupid every single day and Prince can only find solace and joy from continuing to indulge in that illicit affair with his coworker. Which was the perfect time to inform us as to how we get out of the darkness and one important step in doing so, is having someone point out where we are and offer exactly what we need in that moment. For Prince, that meant hearing about how he wasn’t fighting tooth and nail for Amber, and that was enough for him to end the affair and go and find his drunken brother-in-law in Venezuela, wherein he did Bambi a solid and pulled him out of his stupor and locked him away in a hotel room so he could sober up at last. Once that was accomplished, both men moved onto the next step… having a plan and a focus toward how to improve their lives. Which in this instance, involved working toward bringing Amber home, the long way round. Because they knew that an all-out assault on the compound would end in disaster for everyone and it might bring Amber great harm as well. So, it was best they used logic and guile to find a way to earn her freedom and that led to quite the complex plan. Wherein Mitch would join them in kidnapping the family member of Tariq Marwan. Who was a high ranking official in the Venezuelan government that more or less was in charge of keeping Amber locked away and he was in charge of keeping the drugs flowing from that facility. Which of course, led to quite the intense chase sequence, wherein our trio of heroes struggled mightily to capture Tariq’s brother, Momo. In part because kidnapping a man, who was also a deejay, in broad daylight was no easy task. But also, because there was some bad blood present here. For Bambi and Prince both harbored shame and blame for losing Amber… and they of course… had their own indiscretions to worry about and that meant if they wanted to finish this mission, they had to hash that out and thankfully they did. Restoring their bond and working relationship and that in turn allowed for them to kidnap Momo after all… and use Mitch to inform Tariq that his brother was in the hands of the Americans and the easiest way to fix that, was to let Amber go home at last. An ending that of course, sets the stage for more magnificent tension and cat and mouse games, since Minister Marwan clearly hates being embarrassed in the slightest. But while we wait to see what comes of this gambit, we can celebrate one smart tale. One that truly hammered home how focus and assistance can snap us out of the darkness and get us moving in the right direction again, since Bambi and Prince are ready to play the hero and risk it all for family and love and well, once again we are left counting down the minutes to next week’s chapter in this incredible story. For not only are Bambi and Prince focused again, but they’re working without a net and ready to cross lines to get what they want and that is going to make for more powerful and meaningful storytelling as the fight for Amber properly gets underway. Until next time.
