Written by John Edward Betancourt It really is quite amazing how June has transformed, from an entertainment standpoint. Because it used to be… a ghost town. Wherein reruns ruled the day because people were outside constantly and away from television. But the advent of streaming and the ability to carry your television everywhere changed all that. For now, we can enjoy television as we see fit, and people have changed their schedules to align with that. Which means that networks now offer amazing programming in June and the summer in general, because they know people want something to watch after a hike or during a hot day and STARZ most certainly has a great June planned for its subscribers. After all, Tariq St. Patrick’s closing chapter gets underway this month, and STARZ has a ton of exclusive movies for us to watch as well, and since you’re preparing your viewing plans for the month ahead, here is STARZ’s June 2024 programming highlights to get you ready for a balanced beginning to summer. ‘STARZ announces its programming highlights for the month of June, featuring the season four premiere of “Power Book II: Ghost.” On the film front, Bros, Ticket to Paradise, How I Learned to Fly (featuring Cliff “Method Man” Smith), Get On Up, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Billy Madison, Carlito’s Way, How High, Jarhead, Law Abiding Citizen, and several other notable titles join the STARZ app this month. Caution: This article contains spoilers for Episode 529 of ‘Love During Lockup’. To revisit the previous episode, click here.
If there one’s particular question that now hangs over the head of every fan of Love During Lockup on, WE tv, it would have to be… when is the volcano of drama going to explode? Because for weeks now, there have been minor eruptions and signals that trouble is indeed on the horizon. Since every couple on this show is hitting roadblocks, have concerns or are outright fighting through and through. Letting us know that a spark is near a powder keg, and it is only a matter of time and well, it would seem we are inching closer as evidenced by this week’s tense episode. For ‘Rescue Me from the Castle!’ was a mix of more trouble brewing, alongside an outright explosion or two. The kind filled with revelations and surprises. But before we get to those, let’s examine more of the trouble brewing in this series right now, because it super important to recognize what other ugly might lie ahead. Such as how Rick’s storybook romance might have an unhappy ending. Because while he and Samantha tied the knot in this tale, in her prison no less, the honeymoon was over quick. Because just like that, this duo was butting heads and unleashing some stone-cold toxicity by having unrealistic expectations and demands of one another, setting the stage for battles and heartbreak . Not to mention, there are some doubts happening in Joey’s mind when it comes to his darling Michael. For he explained here that he was wondering if waiting for him was worth it, especially after coming to understand how short our lives can be, and that was compounded further by having a chat with Michael’s folks… who did not have good things to say about their son and his relationship with prison. Plus, Shonta was not feeling good about her relationship with True and Rob’s forthcoming release created jitters at home. Since there was worry about how the dynamic would play out, adding to the tension present here. But there was mention of explosions happening in this tale and those came courtesy of Ayonna and Andrew and Candice. Because Ayonna was defiant until the end regarding checking herself into jail, even going so far as to be late to delay the reality of what she’d done, and there is definite worry that she might not learn her lesson with such defiance, when she needs to. And of course, Andrew’s world was tossed upside down in this tale. Since Candice let him know, the anxiety was getting to her and that she needed space and that all he had done for her, while nice… needed to stop. Which left him down in the dumps and possibly out of a lot of money. In fact, that may have been part of a plan. Since Candice did admit that she did what must be done, and there was implication that perhaps Andrew was always an end to a means. But either way, those two vignettes were indeed explosive and devastating, and at times a little scary. Because Ayonna has quite the temper, and well… in the end, all this episode does is remind us, the eruption is near, and it is going to be shocking when it happens. Because lots of ugly is building beneath the surface and so many people want different things, and that, and a lack of communication is a recipe for disaster and it will be interesting to see how much longer, before everything blows up in this series. Until next time. Watch ‘Love During Lockup’

Caution: This article contains spoilers for Episode 1405 of ‘Doctor Who’. To revisit the previous episode, click here.
Over the course of the past few weeks, the epic sci-fi series, Doctor Who, has explored some powerful topics on Disney+. For it has pondered deeply upon the importance of creativity, the awful nature of war and its even dug deep on the importance of living life to the fullest. All of which has made for a vastly different season of this show, one grounded in social commentary and lessons and well… going this route has been quite impactful. Because each of these episodes have provided us with some powerful storytelling, the kind that has allowed for the lesson to stick through original stories that are refreshing and at times quite fun and well… it would seem this will be the norm for season fourteen of the show. For this week’s episode, had a lot of depth to it as well. For ‘Dot and Bubble’ had a lot to say about the toxic nature of social media and the problem with influencers, in the most unique way imaginable. All by taking us to the far away work bubble of Finetime. A world where people only worked two hours a day and spent the rest of it enjoying the fabulous world of fashion, music that slaps and the popularity contest that only one can find in the world of social media. Which sounds like a pretty normal life, with some perks. Because working two hours a day sounds quite fabulous, but there was quite the problem awaiting the people of Finetime on the day we meet them. Because one particular resident of this weird place, Lindy Pepper-Bean, had some concerns. In that, most of her friends were offline and few of them responded to her requests to chat it up and talk about their daily tea and well, there was a terrifying reason as to why. Because behind her social media mask, giant, slug-like monsters were eating the inhabitants of this town. One by one and in a methodical fashion, and well… the Doctor took notice. Which prompted he and Ruby to enter the cybersphere on this world and hack Lindy’s social media device to point out the truth to try and save her. Which was no easy task, for she relied heavily on this device to just function and struggled to do anything without it.
But thanks to the quick thinking of Finetime’s hottest social media star, Lindy was able to escape… by sacrificing that man before heading into the core of nature with other survivors of the Finetime feast disaster. After telling the Doctor that his help was not welcome, nor was it appreciated. A move that shocked the Doctor to no end, and it almost broke him. Because he could not believe the cold nature of Lindy and the others, nor could he remotely fathom helping people only to have them spurn him in such a manner. But alas, that shocking ending is indeed what took place in this tale and well, it makes sense as to why such ugliness took place. For that was the grand culmination of a story that really was focused on the toxic nature of social media.
Because Lindy and her buddies, embodied how some people completely and utterly get lost in that world, and lose their humanity in the process. For social media is indeed a shielded place, where fantasy rules the day, as do narratives that are woefully out of touch. Informing us that we cannot just bury our head in the like and subscribe sand and we must be present, so we don’t let it rule our lives with its fake presentations. Not to mention, this did take quite the shot at influencer culture since Lindy’s decision to harm and rebuff kindness are echoes of sentiments, we’ve heard regarding the arrogance that influencers send out into the world. As though they’ve above others for the follower count, they harbor, and this too informed us… to be humble and grounded in all things… so we don’t become a Lindy Pepper-Bean. All of which offered up, a fascinating episode. One that truly took us on quite the wild ride courtesy of another refreshing and unique storyline. Because while we have seen shows and movies go after social media before, it’s never happened in this manner. One where the Doctor and his companion were nothing more than passengers along for the ride, just like the audience. But it all worked, and we were definitely privy to some important lessons about social media and its dangers and well, now that that heartbreaking finale is out of the way, all we can do is wait for next week’s amazing adventure through time and space with our favorite time lord, and all the lessons it will clearly send our way. Until next time. Watch ‘Doctor Who’
