Truly one of the most difficult experiences the fan base of a television show will go through, is the end of the series. Because stories mean something to us, and the ones that resonate with us deeply become supremely important to us and having to bid them farewell… harbors its own unique grieving process. One that can be extremely difficult to navigate. In part because shows are part of our routine, and we have to mentally adjust to it being out of our lives and that takes some time to reconcile. But let’s be honest… that’s something that can be worked out during the show’s final episodes and is perhaps the easiest path to navigate since the fan base will lift one another up.
Plus, that’s also the rarest way to handle the farewell. For in the world of television, cancellations run rampant, and that means sometimes… fans wake up one day to find out… the end has simply come and there will be nothing more and that weighs heavy upon them. Not to mention, the story sometimes is too big for its britches and bringing forth a quality ending is no easy task, and this is something commonplace and leads to an ending that isn’t quite as satisfying as one might like and that too… is hard to reconcile. In fact, that particular path is common enough that fans get supremely nervous when they hear their show is ending because they are concerned it might go that route, and that level of concern is undoubtedly in the hearts and minds of those who tune into NBC’s La Brea. Because we are in fact, inching toward the third and final season of the show and everyone wants this story to wrap up in a manner that is epic and worthy of what the first two seasons put forth and well, that’s why we thought it best to preview the third and final season in a spoiler-free manner for you today. Because we here at NTG have seen the first three episodes from the show’s third and final season, we’ve talked with the cast and the show’s creator and showrunner David Appelbaum, and well… what we’ve been able to glean from those episodes and those conversations, is that his show is going to go out on its own terms and offer up the least path of resistance for our grief. By offering us an epic farewell tour. Courtesy of well… some downright epic moments to say the least. For there are simply surprises abound in the first three episodes we enjoyed, the kind that take the story in a fascinating direction and those same moments seemingly set the stage for the finale ahead. All of which draws you deeply into season three and leaves you hungry for more and of course… these episodes harbor some lovely character moments for certain, the kind that speak to lessons applied from this grandiose journey, and they are so much fun and filled with the same sense of adventure and awe as what came before them… that you are indeed able to process your grief and begin to say goodbye to a series that has meant a lot to us. Because this one was something refreshing, something special, and well… all of these elements really seem to imply that we are in for a powerhouse ending. One that should satisfy and take us on an incredible ride. Granted, that is speculation on our part since again, only the first three episodes of season three were available to us. But the quality of those episodes, says a lot about where we are headed, and the best news of all… is that we are but days away from enjoying the final six episodes of this magnificent and captivating series. For La Brea returns to the airwaves on January 9, 2024 at 9-10pm ET/PT, and of course will be streaming next day on Peacock, and we here at NTG cannot wait for you to see the adventure that lies ahead, and the care that went into it. Nor can we wait to share with you, our interviews with David and the cast as we continue to count down to the ending of one epic series. As an added bonus, here is a sneak peek of Season 3 of ‘La Brea’.
