Without the labor of the actors currently on strike, the motion picture being covered here wouldn’t exist. There is a great deal of fear in our world right now, courtesy of a plethora of problems/scenarios surrounding us. For instance, the fight to remove the freedoms of so many, has us wondering what our nations will look like tomorrow. Not to mention, the divide between the wealthy and well, everyone else, has us fearful of what the economy and our financial future will look like with only a handful of people in control of the planet’s wealth. Not to mention, inaction from so many governments regarding climate change has us scared for our future as a species and our fears don’t end there. Because we are also staying up late at night, worrying about what technology is going to transform into, courtesy of the advent of artificial intelligence. Simply because… we haven’t a clue what A.I. will become, for we are in essence unleashing a program that can grow and learn about humanity without any checks and balances, and that is indeed scary, since we simply don’t how it will react to what it will learn of us. Which has of course, allowed for many stories and theories to be created and posed that speak to how such unfettered access to humanity’s better angels and rotten demons could be disastrous. To the point where we would be no longer be deemed worthy of being on this Earth and it instead, would take over. And some would say those fears are being realized. Since it knows how to aggregate our words and our art and has made attempts to replicate what the human brain trains to create. To the point where protections are finally being put in place to stave off and control what some believe to be inevitable. But if it is indeed only a matter of time before artificial intelligence is part of our everyday lives , then perhaps the time has come to face our fears and confront artificial intelligence and its potential. To understand it and perhaps learn if by chance we can peacefully coexist, and who knows… we may be surprised at what we learn about these fears and what is really driving them, and well… that more thoughtful aspect regarding our fears concerning A.I. is top of mind today, simply because a new motion picture in theaters dives deep into those worries in The Creator. A feat that this film accomplishes by taking us into a future, where the inevitable has happened, and artificial intelligence has become part of our daily lives. To the point where it has progressed into androids that resemble people and where those very androids toil about like the rest of us as well. That is until disaster strikes in Los Angeles, at the hands of A.I. no less, and that leads to a grand battle between humanity and their creation. One where the United States leads the charge, and of course, American might will stop at nothing to vanquish its foe. To the point where those in charge, ask a seasoned veteran of this war against A.I. to rejoin the cause one last time, despite the traumas he suffered in his first tours against machinery… in the hopes of ending this war for all time. But once Joshua finds himself behind enemy lines again, does he come to learn the folly of this war and of our fears, and that prompts him to make a powerful choice, one that will shape the future of man and machine in a way no one ever thought possible. Which is… a plot that first glance… really does seem to be more of the same. Man creates A.I., A.I. learns that man is awful and makes hard decisions. But that folly aspect of the war, wherein Joshua is able to see what artificial intelligence could actually become in a world where it is fully integrated with human beings and shepherded, brings forth the powerful examination regarding our fears of A.I. in question. For this is a film that ponders deeply upon some greater questions. In that, is it the creation of artificial life that we deeply fear? Or is it that we will be making an artificial being or beings, in our own image. One that currently is filled with fury and insecurity, and an inability to sometimes ignore the need to resolve our own inner demons. Which in turn could create creatures that would resent us and hate us the way we resent and hate one another, and that absolutely would give rise to monsters that resemble us in all the wrong ways. For they are in fact, programmed and designed to learn what is in front of them… so perhaps… it is our own shortcomings we fear. That in turn means… that if we want to keep this bold and burgeoning new technology in check, it might be best for us… to become something more, something better. Beings that inspire, really, and if we did that… what then would a being designed to learn about us become? But of course… we won’t be spoiling the answers to any of those questions because you need to experience that in person. But what we can say is that those questions alone, and that plot, brings forth one of the most refreshing and fascinating, and downright original films of the year. For this is that ultra-rare artificial intelligence story that challenges humanity for a change and asks us if we are truly ready to give life to a new species, and what it might take to be ready if we are not. Which gives rise to moments that would make Asimov or Bradbury proud since they ponder deeply upon concepts that we aren’t talking about at the moment, and quite frankly should be. Since that would likely remove fear from our hearts and allow for us to think upon A.I. in a more serious and responsible manner. But while it is incredible to ponder upon such unique concepts, make no mistake about it… this movie has more to offer than philosophy. For this is a grand and sweeping science fiction epic, one that envisions our future in a realistic manner and offers breathtaking visuals and moments that drop your jaw with their sheer majesty and beauty. Not to mention, it also has commentary to offer on our modern world, specifically, the American war machine and the concept/folly of American excellence. But of course, none of this works without quality performances, the kind that can sell this world and the experiences of the characters and you’ll thankfully find that here too. For the cast is simply phenomenal in their roles, with Madeline Voyles (Alphie) and John David Washington (Joshua) leading the charge in this story, since they bring real emotional depth and realism to their characters and really… in the end… all of these elements bring forth a must-see feature. Because this is science fiction and its finest and it offers something for everyone and stays with you long after the credits have come to a close, thanks to a powerhouse story that prompts us to address a long-standing fear.

Something that is genuinely fascinating about this time of year, is how much preparation is going into the two seasons that await us. For there are people preparing hard for Spooky Season while there are others ramping up to enjoy their Holiday Season. Simply because fall encourages us to enjoy whichever season we love and both lines of thinking for people are perfectly fine and perfectly right. It’s just incredible how much preparation is happening right now, and what’s equally as wild, is that television networks and studios also understand this dynamic and are making announcements left and right regarding Halloween programming and Holiday programing, and this includes Disney. Because it wasn’t that long ago, that we came to learn of the Goosebumps revival that is coming to Disney+ to celebrate the all-important Halloween season, and today… we garnered a sampling of what’s to come for the Holiday season. For earlier they let it be known that a brand-new holiday feature is arriving on the Disney Channel on 11/22 (and will air on Disney+ on 11/23), entitled, The Naughty Nine. A feature that will offer a dynamic and unique plot, worthy of the Disney name, and it will also feature Danny Glover playing the iconic character of Santa Claus. And well, since you’re here to learn more about some Holiday programming because that’s where your heart lies during the season… here are all the details on this fascinating new Holiday feature. Along with a teaser and some first-look photos (courtesy of Disney), to help prepare you for your Holiday viewing adventures. ‘Just in time for the holidays, Disney Branded Television announced today that its new Disney Original Movie “The Naughty Nine” will debut Wednesday, Nov. 22 (8:00-9:35 p.m. EST), on Disney Channel and Thursday, Nov. 23 (Thanksgiving Day), on Disney+. Centered on a clever crew of enterprising kids who plot an elaborate at the North Pole, “The Naughty Nine” will feature acclaimed actor Danny Glover (“Lethal Weapon”) in the role of Santa Claus, it was also announced today along with the release of the movie’s teaser. In “The Naughty Nine,” mischievous fifth grader Andy finds himself without a present from Santa on Christmas morning. Realizing he must have landed on the “naughty list” and feeling unfairly maligned, Andy pulls together a team of eight other “naughty listers” to help him execute an elaborate heist in Santa’s Village at the North Pole to get the presents they feel they deserve. Along the way, the group comes to realize that the very best way off the naughty list is to redirect their unique talents for good ― instead of mischief. The movie’s talented ensemble includes Winslow Fegley (“8-Bit Christmas”) as Andy; Camila Rodriguez as Dulce, Andy’s best friend and archery expert; Anthony Joo ("New Amsterdam") as North Pole conspiracy theorist Lewis; Imogen Cohen (“The Fairly Oddparents”) as daredevil “wheel woman” Ha-Yoon; Clara Stack (“Hawkeye”) as animal whisperer Rose; Deric McCabe (“A Wrinkle in Time”) as master-of-disguise Jon Anthony; Ayden Elijah as adorable charmer Albert; and Madilyn Kellam (“Afterwalker”) as Andy’s older sister, Laurel, a skilled gymnast seeking to regain her confidence. Derek Theler (“Baby Daddy”) is Bruno, a disgruntled cargo pilot who claims to have witnessed Santa’s sleigh. As portrayed by award-winning actor and producer Glover, Santa Claus is a wise and imposing figure with a twinkle of humor who is always one step ahead of Andy. Best known for his role in the blockbuster “Lethal Weapon” franchise, Glover has starred in an array of motion pictures, including the critically acclaimed “Dreamgirls” and the futuristic “2012” for director Roland Emmerich. In 2022, Glover was honored by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences with the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Honorary Academy Award for his decades-long advocacy for justice and human rights. Alberto Belli (“House of Flowers”) directed “The Naughty Nine,” and Suzanne Todd (“Noelle”) is an executive producer. “The Naughty Nine” was written by Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas (“Raven’s Home”), who also serve as executive producers.’ Written by John Edward Betancourt Caution: This article contains spoilers for the motion picture, ‘Dumb Money.’ Also, this piece was written during the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Without the labor of the writers and actors currently on strike, the movie being covered here wouldn’t exist. It is definitely safe to say, that the average American is dealing with a lot right now. After all, the political landscape is scary, and the polarizing nature of the right has everyone worried if freedom will still ring long term in America. Not to mention, people are fighting over the fundamentals of truth and science like never before, and that adds unwanted stress to everyday life. Since you simply don’t know if a friendly conversation will take a turn for the worse when someone feels the need to step in and speak their ‘facts’ in a weirdly passionate matter. Plus, there are grave concerns about equality and bodily autonomy since we are taking a step back there as a nation, and of course… there are all the stresses that come forth from wealth inequality in America. For the rich really are getting richer, and they’re so greedy and out of touch with the everyday man, they’re resorting to strange behavior to make more profits and shield their egos. All of which is just exhausting to think about, but there is hope out there. After all, people are suddenly voting in droves to protect their rights, and they’re rejecting ancient dogmas and outdated ideas as best they can, and they’re standing up for what’s right… and the rich are getting their wakeup call. Because the strikes happening around the nation speak to folks that are done with being paid less while their boss is paid two-thousand times more, and people are rejecting the nonsense narratives the ultra-rich are sending out into the world to make themselves look better or to make their actions appear justified. But of course, for those kinds of responses to exist, a spark had to be lit at some point down the line. Now the political one was quite obvious in nature, courtesy of four years of concern, but this newfound backlash to the Scrooge McDucks of the world… stemmed from a moment in time that not everyone necessarily knows about in great detail. But thankfully… we have storytelling to help us understand moments such as these and there’s a film in theatres now… that showcases what started the clap back that the rich are now experiencing and that makes, Dumb Money, an important watch. For this is a story that takes us back in time to early 2021, when the world was emerging from the nightmare of the pandemic and when… some rich dude bros were doing their best to be masters of the universe. For they were attempting to short squeeze Game Stop’s stock in an effort to either make the company part of their portfolio or to just enjoy the weird thrill they obtain when toying with stocks and lives… but when it came to this squeeze, they were in for quite the surprise. Because one man on YouTube, Keith Gill, believed that these moves were unfair and unjust. So, he expressed to the world, a need to look past the power grab at hand and believe in the stock and invest in Game Stop. A move that was seemingly harmless, but so many… saw this as a rallying cry. As a chance to perhaps teach the fat cats of the world a lesson… and they most certainly did. For so many purchased Game Stop stock and drove the price up and ruined any plans for the rich to get richer. Which really is the perfect way to explore a critical moment in history, one that deserves more context for the masses. For it when it happened, this was nothing more than a passing post-pandemic moment for us. One that we didn’t give all that much thought to because we’d already lived through a year’s of worth of crazy, and an insurrection. So, this just seemed like a nice little slap for the rich boys of the world. But this movie really does break down the desperation that so many were feeling financially during this period of time, and how the pandemic gave so many a chance to ponder upon life and the way that our world was structured and stand up and say enough. Granted, some may only see this moment in time as a small victory, since of course… the stock market is doing just fine, and every company is still recording record profits while paying their employees peanuts… but it really was something more. It was … the rallying cry in question. It was the spark. One that really has started to burn brighter years later to bring forth demands and unity regarding better wages and wage fairness, and that makes this an important motion picture to say the least. One that finally breaks down the big moment in question and also serves… as an anthem for the everyman and perhaps a reminder that there is a way forward to put an end to such monetary madness in our world. For if by chance the unity we are seeing now, stuck around and made greater demands of the rich and put forth more regulations on them, instead of letting them run wild and free and say… buy a social media network because they don’t like how they’re talked about upon it… we would see real change in the world. The kind that was put on display in that chilly winter and early spring of 2021, when so many people finally said enough and made something special happen on their own. If anything, all of those elements make for one supremely engaging motion picture. Courtesy of a magnificent script by Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo, that is brisk and intense in all the right ways, some masterful direction from Craig Gillespie who makes stock trading something that we can enjoy on screen and this film also works… because of its cast. For this is a film that features a who’s who of modern actors, and every single one of them bring their A game to the material and sell the moment and address our frustrations, so that when the end credits roll… we feel nothing but satisfaction over how things played out back in ’21 and we also feel… inspired and invigorated. For if a bunch of folks on Reddit and an analyst could freeze the system and bring attention to its shady and unregulated practices… then we can achieve anything and change the world, and you can never go wrong with a movie that sends that kind of message our way. Written by John Edward Betancourt This piece was written during the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Without the labor of the writers and actors currently on strike, the movie being covered here wouldn’t exist. We search for a great deal in this life. For instance, we search for unconditional love, the kind that is different than the one we grew up with. We want that love that helps us grow as a person, that inspires us and sends us soaring. Not to mention, we also search for fulfillment. The kind that comes via a career that fits the skill set that we were born with. For that gives us a sense of belonging and a unique sense of purpose. But those are of course, easy searches to accomplish, when one opens their heart and follows their calling, and that is why… of the many searches we conduct in this life, there is one that we prize above all, and give great energy to. For in the end… what we are truly searching for in this life… is meaning. For despite carving out our own little niches and slices of happiness, there’s a lot of chaos that surrounds us, and there is a lot of heartache as well. Wherein we fail at a great many things, and where we see people, we love, fade from our lives either slowly or suddenly, and sometimes… this world just plain terrifies us and forces us to face our fragility and our mortality. Something we all experienced recently. So… to find peace within the chaos and to further cement joy in what else we have searched for, we ponder often upon… the meaning of life. Of why we are here and what the point even is of what we chase and this search… is a difficult one. Because the answer is elusive and difficult to find, and that is why we often turn to fiction to guide us, or people that inspire us… to see if by chance, they can show us the light, and it just so happens that a brand-new film about that search, involving a historical figure no less… has just arrived in theaters, and that makes The Inventor, quite the uplifting motion picture. One that transports us back in time, to an age of wonder. Specifically, the era in which Leonardo da Vinci lived, and well… we arrive at a point in his life, where he is at his peak from a curiosity standpoint. Where he simply wants to know everything there is to know about this world, this life, and our purpose and meaning, and that of course… draws the ire of the church but ignites the curiosity of Francis the First. Who invites Leonardo to join his court in France where he can explore the world and life’s curiosities with complete freedom. Provided of course… he makes the king happy at every turn. Which brings forth a powerful journey for Leonardo, one that pushes him to learn balance and prompts him to deeply ponder upon… the meaning of life. So, he no longer feels as though his only purpose in life is to serve churches and kings that care only of their world. Which is a plot that at first glance, really doesn’t seem to relate to an examination of the meaning we crave and how perhaps we can best find it. In fact, that plot appears to be biographical in nature, with some philosophy thrown in. But the devil is in the details in this stop-motion animated feature, for everything that Leonardo does in this movie, is to find meaning, to find purpose, to understand why some are curious while others are content to be royal potatoes sitting atop thrones and that leads… to a powerful and inspiring journey. One that does indeed explore… why we are here. Courtesy of a journey that dissects the things we take for granted, that ponders upon the power of a single moment and of course… explores what truly nourishes our soul and what gives us life and meaning, and that leads to some powerful moments and some powerful answers regarding the meaning of life. Which is… perhaps a vague way to describe what one discovers in this film, but we don’t want to spoil the journey, or what Leonardo discovers to be the meaning of life. Because it’s more important that you see the journey play out in person and go with the flow of a powerfully written and beautifully animated story. One that is a feast for the eyes and is filled to the brim with toe-tapping music from Composer Alex Mandel and features commanding performances from Stephen Fry (Leonardo da Vinci), Daisy Ridley (Marguerite de Navarre), Marion Cotillard (Louise of Savoy), and even Matt Berry (Pope Leo X). But truly, it is Jim Capobianco’s story that grabs hold of you first, because it truly takes us on a stunning journey of discovery, one that some of us have followed and that some are eager to follow and, in the end, you’re left with a movie that sends your spirits soaring and provides you with amazing perspective. Something that quite frankly, we all need right now. Since we are coming out of a scary time in our lives, and we are indeed lost and looking for perspective and meaning, and this movie truly does point the viewer in the right direction. In a manner that is never pushy or heavy handed, and that’s important. Because it means that if you’re looking to be entertained by a refreshing and original story that is off the beaten path, you’ll find that here too, and families can absolutely settle in and just enjoy the heartwarming ride that plays out. Since this is a movie that also just encourages us to learn more about the life and times of one of history’s greatest minds. But it certainly doesn’t hurt that when you walk out of the theater, you have a grand appreciation of the moment, and of every breath you take. Courtesy of a magnificent motion picture about the meaning… and the gift… of life. Written by John Edward Betancourt This piece was written during the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Without the labor of the writers and actors currently on strike, the movie being covered here wouldn’t exist. It is definitely safe to say that the John Wick franchise is nothing short of a pop-culture phenomenon. Because seemingly overnight, everyone was buzzing about the first film and its epic nature, and that buzz… generated enough interest and box office receipts to produce four total films, and so much more. All because we were blown away from the wonder of this unique and refreshing franchise, one that plunged us into a bold new world that ignited our imagination every step of the way, and well… our love of this franchise runs so deep, and the demand for more of it is so high, that STARZ made an important announcement today. For STARZ was prepared to stream John Wick: Chapter 4 starting on September 26, 2023. But that demand and that desire from fans to see it over and over again with the press of a button, prompted STARZ to make a scheduling change and announce that the movie will now stream on September 15th. Which also means that the various collections available on the app, designed to coincide with the release of Chapter 4 are moving up as well, and with that in mind… here is when those collections will debut, alongside all the details on today’s announcement (courtesy of STARZ). as we prepare ourselves to enjoy John Wick’s latest adventure from the comfort of our homes… a little sooner than expected. ‘John Wick: Chapter 4 will now be available to stream on the STARZ app beginning September 15, a week earlier than previously announced. STARZ is the exclusive home to the first run of John Wick: Chapter 4, which joins an action-packed film lineup available on the STARZ app. In celebration of its release, along with the season two return of the high-octane “Power Book IV: Force,” STARZ released a special Action Collection earlier this month which includes a strong slate of action titles including John Wick: Chapter 4, Sisu (available 9/29), The Equalizer, The 355, Plane, Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre, the Bad Boys franchise, and The Expendables franchise, ahead of the theatrical release of Expendables 4. Because for some reason, old haunts hang heavy over our world, the kind that we as a society thought we overcame and buried… and we are also at a point in human history where riches untold are out in the world… but not everyone is able to enjoy their spoils and benefits. For so many are mired in struggle and are sometimes unable to afford basic living services and needs, while there are others out there… who enjoy a ridiculously lavish lifestyle. Which has divided the world into the haves and the have nots, and the haves care little about what happens to anyone else, and that has brought forth some understandable frustration over the past couple of decades. The kind that just so happens to be boiling over as the days continue along. Because people are eager for change and in need of help at a time when Chief Executive Officers and Billionaires enjoy riches untold while some people cannot afford a loaf of bread or a house payment and that has brought forth calls for that change, in a loud and vocal manner. And such discussions have also left us wondering… why change hasn’t come to the world… and why these individuals continue to grasp and clutch at every dollar and dime when they could in fact, do good in this world and make it a better place since hey… you can’t take the cash with you. But instead, frustrations still grow, simply because these folks just worry about their balance sheet, and that also leaves us wondering… why? Why go this route and be this way and well, it just so happens that a new motion picture that premiered at FrightFest on August 28, explores the very answers to those questions. Which makes Failure! quite the unique and fascinating story. For it simply takes us, into the world of a CEO named James, who is dealing with quite the crisis when we are introduced to him. For he is struggling financially after spending years enjoying the fruits of inherited wealth and he must now decide what to do with his family’s company and factory. Because holding onto a legacy will lead to financial ruin, but selling off the factory will keep his lifestyle alive and well… he truly does battle what path to take. Simply because… he cannot fathom a life where it is one or the other, and his path toward the hard call is further complicated by the reality, that others now see this as an opportunity to enjoy their slice of what’s left of a rotten pie. Now, at first glance… that is a plot that seems grounded more in a reckoning of sorts, instead of a character study and analysis on what drives men like this. Because such a reality would indeed force an everyman to really ponder upon their life choices and who they are and what they stand for. And that’s precisely where this film… begins to dive into those all-important questions. Simply because… we come to learn as this film goes along that James only cares about image and money and that brings forth a fascinating character study. One that explores how men like James and the other rich buffoons of the world, are forged and taught horrible lessons about how to live and how to function. The kind that allows for them to be deeply out of touch with the everyday world, to the point where what they value is vastly different than the rest of us, and they go through the motions often to appear as though they care about what everyday folks do. When in fact, it’s just about the money and legacy, and standing for them. Which more or less puts forth a story that informs us, it will require change on a more fundamental level to even things out and really put guys like this in their place. Because they are devoid of empathy and devoid of the emotional wealth others carry. Which in many ways makes this movie an angry tragedy, one that engenders only disdain and pity, since none of the characters here are redeemable or worth rooting for, but that is the point. This is supposed to be a raw look at the men of the world that hide behind their money and power, and it truly is mission accomplished there, and one big reason this motion picture works so well and sells its bleak examination of what makes a Billionaire or CEO tick… are the performances. For they are raw and visceral, and truly… it’s one man that leads the charge regarding this: Ted Raimi. For he plays James in this tale and is simply sublime in the role, courtesy of the realism and gravitas he brings to the character, and the wonder of this movie doesn’t end there. Because it is also a technical marvel. One that accomplishes something that two classics attempted to bring to life. For Alfred Hitchcock’s Rope and Josh Becker’s Running Time, were designed to make it seem as though they were filmed in a single take. But this particular movie, WAS shot in a single take. Which is incredible to say the least but speaks to the talent on display and behind the camera, and that also allows for a genuine intensity to play out here and… that makes for a supremely engaging experience, one that grabs hold and does not let go and well, in the end… this is quite the impressive motion picture. For it is poignant and powerful, and it truly offers up a fascinating examination of people in our world that are in many ways mysterious, and it really does inform us of the strange world they live in, and how it will take some hard action to get them to come crashing back down to reality. Written by John Edward Betancourt This piece was written during the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Without the labor of the writers and actors currently on strike, the movie being covered here wouldn’t exist. One particular aspect of modern stories about dreams, and our pursuit of them, that is quite fascinating, is how they have become so incredibly realistic in nature. For tales revolving around dreams used to be quite fluffy and majestic. Where the only real hardships a character would ever deal with in chasing their ultimate dream, was themselves. For they were filled with doubt, filled with fear and once they stood up to those internal problems, wonders would take place on the screen or on the page. For these noble folks would rise, seize the day, and seize their dream, and of course… they would enjoy peace untold. Because according to those stories, grabbing hold of the dream is supposed to solve all of our problems, and well, those fluffier concepts simply no longer appear in stories of this caliber. For now, they point out that grabbing hold of our dreams doesn’t solve all of our problems. They do solve plenty mind you, but hard work has to go into finding real happiness, the kind that involves self-work and discipline and healing. Plus, these stories also inform us now that life doesn’t stop, when we’ve reached the top, and we should be prepared for that. And this evolution doesn’t end with stories in that vein. For even tales that revolve around those once-in-a-lifetime opportunities, where someone that believes their dream is a long shot, gets the opportunity to grab hold of it… are no longer stories that feature meteoric rises to the top. No those too are grounded in more realistic moments now, and even reflect moments in our world, as evidenced by the new Sony Pictures/Playstation Entertainment feature, Gran Turismo. A feat that this story accomplishes, by retelling the incredible tale of Jann Mardenborough. Who back in 2011, used his vast knowledge of the popular game of the same name of the film, to win the GT Academy. Which afforded him a chance to drive for Team Nissan and allowed for him to live out his life-long dream of becoming a professional racer. But of course, we only know the end of that tale and that’s why this film is so engaging and refreshing. For it truly dives deep into the concepts we’ve just discussed. How one person’s shot at obtaining their dream doesn’t mean that they will suddenly be a dynamo at it and wow the world with a skillset that will prompt everyone that ever doubted that person to feel nothing but regret and foolishness, and shame. No instead, this is a story that informs us… that an underdog shot will instead bring forth, incredible challenge. For while a person may indeed be gifted and motivated and ready to enter a new career field, there is a learning curve, and it is a tough one. Because now, that person is learning on the fly and doing their best to become a master in record time, and we watch that happen with Jann here. For while he understands the core concepts of racing, the nuances, the realities, and the hardships of being a winner behind the wheel, are presented to him in a fast and furious manner. One that challenges him like never before, all while offering us a realistic look at what he went through to reach the top, while also showcasing the dedication and drive it takes to do so. Which brings forth an inspiring and powerful film that pulls no punches on chasing our dreams and offers so much more. Because this is also at its core, a hardcore racing film, one that offers up plenty of scenes on the racetrack and that leads… to some intense and breathtaking moments. The kind that plunges us into the various races themselves in a manner that is visceral and intense. In fact, on several occasions, this writer could hear people in the theater gasping for air and reacting in shock over how intense things would get during the racing sequences. Which is a testament to Neill Blomkamp’s stellar direction. Since making the audience apart of the race is no easy task, but Neill accomplishes it here courtesy of stunning visuals, quick cuts, and let’s be honest… characters that we care about. Since Jann and his team are people that are genuinely good and genuinely relatable, and we want to see everyone here defy the odds and grab hold of their dreams. But of course, it takes great acting to have an audience properly care about the characters, and that is present here as well. Since David Harbour and Orlando Bloom are electric as Chief Engineer Jack Salter and Nissan Executive Danny Moore, respectively. For they help to ground the story and offer fascinating perspective on the pursuit of one’s dream. But it is Archie Madekwe that steals the show here, for his portrayal of Jann Mardenborough is nothing short of spectacular, since he brings real honesty to the role and sells the hunger Jann harbored within. And all of the elements bring forth, a phenomenal motion picture, one that you should absolutely see. Because it is high-octane, feel-good entertainment. The kind that inspires us with truthful lessons, about how we need to be prepared to give our dream our all when the time comes to obtain it, and to always say yes to any opportunity that comes our way regarding it. Because you never know if a singular moment will be the one to give you the chance you’ve been waiting for. Written by John Edward Betancourt

One unfortunate truth about our world, is that we as a society, struggle with celebrating diversity, in every way imaginable. For we still struggle with equality for all, and we still have a tendency to judge people based upon the color of their skin or the behaviors they exhibit in life that differ from the ‘norm,’ and that is unfortunate. Because we are all human beings, and it shouldn’t matter if we happen to be a different race or are neurodivergent, and it is quite silly and unfortunate that we are still pointing out this flaw in our world in the year two-thousand-twenty-three. However, while it is a shame that this is still a thing, progress is being made in our world. For there are organizations and people fighting for equality for all, and they are fighting hard in the face of adversity, and our understanding of mental health and the various variations in thinking and behavioral patterns that exist in humanity is growing by the day. Allowing for people to be educated on such matters and think differently at last, and oddly enough, pop culture is leading the charge in this education. For representation and cultural celebration is happening often now in pop culture and there are even stories that champion neurodiversity and those behavioral shifts that far too often, people judge and avoid. And it just so happens, that Apple TV+ is now home to one of the boldest iterations of this type of forward-thinking storytelling. For Snoopy Presents: One-of-a-Kind Marcie is streaming on the network now and this Peanuts Gang special examines what introversion looks like in individuals and how it works and how it should not be all that defines a person, and it pulls off that grand examination by giving us a story that is Marcie centric. Because as it turns out, she is someone that embraces the behaviors of an introvert and well… her ability to find balance in life, so she can have what her mind needs to keep her happy, is put to the challenge when her decision to step in and solve some of the school’s problems, make her a hero in demand. Which is the perfect way to explore that subject matter. Because that allows for education to take place. Courtesy of scenes that showcase what introversion actually is, and how it isn’t a label or something quirky or weird about a person. It is in fact, how some individuals process their energies and life in general, and that doesn’t make them less or strange, it makes them individuals that simply harbor different needs, and mindfulness regarding those needs, so they feel comfortable and eager to contribute. For folks that deal with introvertive tendencies do indeed have plenty to contribute. For they see life from different angles, and that can be supremely helpful and well, all of those elements make for a powerful story, one that really does leave the viewer with plenty to think about, and it of course, will mean the world to anyone that relates to Marcie. Since it will remind those individuals that they aren’t an outsider or problematic. They belong, they are seen, and they deserve respect and celebration. Because they’re not different, they just see things from a unique perspective and well, that really is some lovely messaging to find in a Peanuts special, and that should come as no surprise. For this franchise has always looked at life through the lens of Charlie Brown and his many friends, and his awesome beagle, Snoopy, but this is by far one of the most important specials this franchise has ever brought to bear, and one of its boldest. And hopefully, this is a harbinger of things to come from the world of Peanuts and hopefully, you take the time to watch this special with your family soon. For this one, really is eye opening and powerful, and everything we need on television right now. Watch ‘Snoopy Presents: One-of-a-Kind Marcie’

It is definitely safe to say that we live in quite the quirky era when it comes to dating. For gone are the days of casual meetups to find potential partners, that has been replaced by the advent of online dating and well… the digital world of romance has proven to be quite confusing to say the least. After all, each app out there demands different things of singles and that can generate matches that really aren’t matches. Not to mention, the detachment of a being behind a screen can embolden men to be supremely crude and gross in their ‘wooing’ of a potential partner. Not to mention, online dating introduced all of us to the nightmare that is ghosting and to complicate matters further, if you’re a hardcore geek or a nerd, this whole process only gets weirder and more difficult. Because online dating allows for some bias to come into play, and well… all those elements, alongside what it takes to set up a profile on the jillion dating sounds there… makes this whole process weird and exhausting. As do the horror stories about online dating and the fact that at its core, it just doesn’t seem to work. But alas, in this digital age, this is the new norm and singles must adjust to it like it or not. Which then begs the question… how then… do we make this process work? Because there has to be something singles are missing when it comes to online dating and there has to be flaws in the system. But perhaps the real issue with online dating, goes deeper than shoddy algorithms and lengthy questionnaires. And it just so happens that a brand-new romantic comedy offers up some bold answers about what is really making online dating so difficult in our modern world in Match Me If You Can. A feat that this film accomplishes by introducing us to a woman named Kip Parsons. Who is a giant nerd and is also looking for love in all the wrong space ports. Because despite her best efforts, she simply cannot find the right partner to join her on her nerdy voyages in life and that prompts her one fateful night, whilst under the influence of margaritas, to try the hot new dating website, I Promise. Because why not? But it doesn’t take long for Kip to realize what a mistake that decision was, since the software fires back that she has no matches in the most malicious manner possible. Prompting her to speak out on the web about I Promise’s uncouth nature, and how online dating can be a massive pain in the rear, and that in turn… brings forth unexpected conflict and fame for Kip. Because her words resonate with the masses and strike fear into the family executives that keep, I Promise running, and now it will be up to Kip to figure out how to navigate this new normal and the ire of a corporation, as she still works to find love in a world where digital dating rules the day.
Which at first glance appears to be a story that is a grand satire of the modern dating world and there is merit to that assumption. Since the story does in fact lampoon the process and showcases its troubles. But once we really get to know Kip and understand her plight do we begin to learn what this film really wants to express. In that, it isn’t the apps and the sites that are the problem, it is the users. Because people have unrealistic expectations about online dating, as though every swipe right will suddenly bring forth happiness and joy and when folks don’t get a fast response or the ones, they want… they immediately think the worst about themselves and fear that they are fated to being alone, and that’s problematic for certain since it creates undue pressure. The kind we see exhibited here by Kip’s nervousness and outright fury over that response. Giving rise to commentary about how people must approach online dating differently and really understand that it is a process that requires care instead of constant swiping. Because no one is buying an air fryer, it’s about trying to find a life partner.
But while that commentary alone could have carried this entire motion picture, there’s more to be found here when it comes how people are the real roadblock when it comes to online dating. For Kip’s eventual flirtation with the true owner of I Promise gives rise to some powerful moments that inform us… prospective daters also need to be ready to date with intention and have a real understanding of what they want and above all… need to be happy with who they are. Because all too often, people believe that dating and relationships is what fixes a person and inspires them to be better or can make them whole and make them feel as though they are enough. When, true love should genuinely complement a person. And in order for that to happen… the self-work has to happen first, and people need to be inspired to be more and realize that they are enough, and that no one needs a lover or a partner to feel complete. Which is a powerful message to find within this romantic comedy, but it is indeed there and all of this powerful commentary, brings forth one magnificent motion picture. One that is deep and reflective, and never becomes overwhelming thanks to the comedic elements present here. Since that helps to break up the heavier stuff and keep us engaged on a journey that we deeply care about. For Kip is someone we relate to since we’re either in her shoes now or have been there and we want her to find what we seek or fought hard to obtain all of which adds depth to this brilliant modern spin on the romantic comedy. Since it truly reflects the times and our current frustrations, all while offering up some hard truths about dating. Not to mention, all of these elements are sold in a believable manner courtesy of some wonderful performances, with Georgina Reilly stealing the show as Kip Parsons. But the best news of all is that you can see Match Me If You Can right now, since it is in theaters and available on demand and hopefully you do indeed give it a look. Since it truly offers up some refreshing perspective on matters of love. Watch ‘Match Me If You Can’
Written by Scott Edwards It is difficult to forgive someone, especially if what they did cut you deep. It does not matter if they are a good friend, a family member or just someone you met in passing, when they turn their back on you for no reason, there may be no coming back. I have never been one to hold a grudge against anyone, but I have some friends that will hold on to a good grudge until the day they die. When it comes to holding a grudge against a friend or family member you must remember that it is hurting both of you and in some cases, it will keep one if not both of you from moving forward in your lives. Waiting at the bar, Sheriff Blake Davis is waiting for someone that knows a little something or another about missing person’s cases, because he has a doozy. When Lieutenant Frank Watters finally arrives, he is given full access to the witnesses, but what they tell him makes the Lieutenant all the more curious about what is really going on. Saying that their friend Travis was taken away by aliens does not work with what he knows and Frank wants to know what really happened and if their friend was killed or not. During his statement, Mike tells Frank and his tape recorder about how the two men were close friends and that Travis was even ready to marry his little sister. Heading out to the mountains to fulfill their contract, the two met up with the rest of the crew, David, Greg, Bobby and Dallis and were ready to cut down some trees. Working from dawn to dusk, the men were exhausted and making their way down the hill when they saw a strange light in the sky that looked like a fire was raging the way they were headed. Trying to beat the fire out of the woods, Travis saw something and had Mike stop the car so he could get out and investigate. Seeing what appeared to be a spaceship, Travis stood under the beautiful lights, but before he knew it, he was stunned by something and all of the men fear that he is dead. Leaving the scene, Mike comes to terms that his best friend must be dead but wanted to get his body as that is what his friend would do for him. Not being able to find Travis upon his return, Mike fears for the worst, that his friend has been abducted by aliens and there is nothing they can do to save him. Listening to the story, Frank rolls his eyes and knows that there is something else going on with the group and seeing the dislike that Dallis has for Travis, he believes that Travis is still in the woods, but in how many pieces, he does not know. Forming a search party with over a hundred men, including Travis’ friends, the men find nothing, but the group of loggers find out what the rest of the town is thinking about them, that they are murderers. Knowing the truth, Mike is not ready to let his story be checked by the television stations and is very reluctant to get a lie detector test for fear that something bad might come out of it. Losing his grip on his everyday life, Mike winds up finding himself alone when his wife leaves him, but a phone call from Travis five days after he disappeared livens his night up. Finding his friend hunkered down in a gas station, Mike knows that the truth will come out, but will anyone, including his own family believe where his friend has been for the past week? When turning this movie on, I thought it would be an abduction story, but it was about much more then that when Lieutenant Frank Watters makes his way to the small town. Being an expert in missing persons, especially cases that deal with murder, he believes that the men were behind the disappearance and just needs to get them to crack. Mike, David, Greg and Bobby are eyed up and down in the town like they have done something wrong, but with some of their actions, they end up bringing it upon themselves. Getting into the mind of Mike a little bit, you get to see what problems he is dealing with on a wider level other than just being broke and losing his best friend. Talk about putting a cast together for a movie, this one is terrific with stars from the early nineties and even some folks that have been around much longer than that. An enjoyable movie and even though I did not cry during it, you have plenty of emotions filling the screen before and after the abduction. Five Takeaways
