There are a great many reasons to love the Acorn TV series, Under the Vines. After all, it features a refreshing plot for certain, one grounded in reality, and one that revolves around what it means to really start over in life. Plus, it features magnificent characters that we can relate to, courtesy of their depth and because we have shared (or will share) in many of their life experiences. Not to mention, the acting is top notch, and you also cannot go wrong with the visual appeal of this series. Because its setting is about as gorgeous as it gets. But above all, what truly allows for us love this series and crave more of it, is the sheer fact that it is one of the rare shows out there… that is unafraid to show us… life in the absolute raw. Because all the little ‘mundane’ stuff that we go through that other television shows gloss over, is put on display here. Making this truly… a series about life and all of its ups and downs and never was that more evident than through its next episode. For this is a story… that saw everyone just settle into their new lives at Oakley and just… live. Which brought about quite a few beautiful moments. Since this is a story that saw Griff finally work to grow and be a better partner to Gus. All by trying to protect him from the embarrassment of going viral as the hottest tractor guy to ever grace the internet, and by showing love for him instead of just saying it. Which led to sweet romantic moments between the duo, the kind that reminded us that the best relationships, are the ones where effort is in play. But there were so many more unique and wondrous moments present here. Such as the fact that Tippy finally had an opportunity to learn about her family line, courtesy of the fact that Marissa brought in her vintner cousin from abroad. A move that fascinated Tippy to no end, since she hasn’t given much thought to her family’s past, or her skill set until now. All of which reminded us that we can never escape the past. Plus, Daisy… finally let down her romantic guard in this tale and attempted to just remember what it meant to feel again from a romantic perspective, courtesy of a mutual attraction with Dr. David, and well… this was just a fine reminder that Daisy is beginning to understand she needs to live again and figure out what she wants, in love and all things, and getting back out there… helps with that. However, we mentioned that ups and down are part of life, and the somewhat somber stuff was handled by Louis in this tale. Because he was briefly pulled back into the world of law in this episode and that… gave him incredible perspective. Such as how he didn’t miss his former life and how much… he has cost himself from a friend and intimacy perspective. Because his desire to constantly work and focus on that, over emotions and building bridges, has in fact… put him in a lonely place. Where at the moment, he only has his son, and that was… some sobering perspective for Louis… but necessary none the less. Because he is perhaps the only character thus far that hasn’t dug as deep into his journey… but the time is coming… as it comes for all of us. If anything, all of this made… for a powerful and engaging episode. One that really was a wonderful slice of life through and through, one that spoke to how we are all on incredible journeys to say the least. The kind that are important, and that despite the uniqueness of our journeys… we are all working toward a common goal. To find a place of peace and happiness, and hopefully… these characters find some semblance of that, after they finish the work, they are currently putting into their lives, of course. But that aside, it was just wonderful to lose ourselves for a little while and peer into the lives of others and be reminded of the wonder of life and how every single moment is important regardless of how it makes us feel, and it will be interesting to see where these journeys take us next, and these wondrous characters, in the weeks to come. Until next time.
