When we are on a healing journey or one that requires us to put in the work to avoid further hardships, we come to realize… that we have no idea as to what kind of progress we are making. Because what’s truly difficult about this journey, is that there are no solid markers that tell us we are healing. There’s just the work and the hope that we are making progress. So how then does one really gauge that they’re growing and moving toward a better tomorrow? Well, the best way to know, is to take a moment and reflect upon our wins, objectively, so we can see the progress in there. Or… look at our lives objectively and honestly. If anything, this complex and important part of the healing process is top of mind today because it was put on display in the next episode of The Outlaws on Prime Video. A feat that this story accomplished through several powerhouse storylines. One of which involved John. Who really, truly, thought that the only way he could heal was by taking his father down and resuming control of the company. But a little time with Myrna’s new squeeze, revealed unto him… that revenge and one-upmanship wouldn’t let him heal. It would just put him into a cycle of emotional violence, the kind his father taught him, and that if he really wanted to heal… he needed to look at his life objectively. Which he did, and he came to understand through that objective look, that he was happier without the company hanging over his head and that his anger was prompting him to miss out, and that with one great choice, he could quickly heal and find a path that didn’t involve his father’s oversight. That prompted him, to let his father keep his spot on the board and he just… walked away… and spent time with his family and focus on breaking the cycle and forging his own path. But there was mention of two storylines involving reflection, and Greg handled the second one. Who was in court at last to defend Lady Gabby and secure her riches. A watershed moment that would showcase that Greg finally made progress in every way he wanted. But alas, the fleet of lawyers that Gabby’s dad hired poked holes in his case and made sure to have every single ‘i’ dotted and ‘t’ crossed to ensure no surprises and that was hard on Greg. Who really tried his best and wondered if by chance he was going to fail and not become the person and professional he wanted to be. But one particular moment, and a simple oversight on the Earl’s part… landed Greg a win. Which allowed for Greg to understand, he is a great lawyer, and he can accomplish wonders. A truth he reflected upon after the win, he truly explored how we find strength and progress through our victories. However, while that was heartwarming stuff to see, the matter of the Dean still hung heavy over this episode, and Rani and Ben spent most of their time handling that. Because with the case crumbling around them, and with there being a need for evidence, they turned to Smiley’s widow to discuss what he knew and how best to bring down the Dean in a risky move that almost got them captured by Burgess and the police. But that gambit paid off. Because it helped us, Ben, and the Outlaws to learn that Rani was indeed innocent and never once caused harm and that… the Dean has a weakness, courtesy of a hard drive that’s hiding in his home, and it brought forth a new ally in Diane. Because the crumbling case finally prompted her to step forward in an effort to help her hero DC clear her name and just like that, the stage is set for one epic finale. One where a newly focused group that understands they can achieve wonders, will go after their biggest antagonist, on the clock no less, since the Dean is so close to being released. And they’ll have to take on double crosses and corrupt police, since we also learned that Christian is working with Burgess to be free and clear of any trouble, by handing over the Outlaws. But while we wait to see how the finale plays out, we can celebrate, one amazing story. One that truly showcased some incredible growth, the kind we’ve wanted to see because of how much we love these characters and want to see them succeed. And it was just glorious to watch it happen, in a healthy and dynamic manner and it does leave us wondering as well, if growth will also be in the cards for the finale. After of course, the dust settles regarding the Dean, for better or worse. Until next time. Watch ‘The Outlaws’
