One thing that we can all agree upon, is that people have varying views and thoughts regarding the notion of the crisis. Some for instance, fear it and will do whatever it takes to avoid it because a crisis can be a stressful and traumatic experience. While others, think little of them and go about their day and some, keep them in mind and plan to deal with them as they arrive. But you’ll note that regardless of what camp you fall into, there’s one thing we all share in. In that, no one welcomes crisis, and it makes sense as to why. After all, they’re stressful, they’re scary and the put us through the wringer emotionally… so why would anyone want to face one? Well, believe it or not, there is good reason. Because crisis teaches us a great deal about ourselves, what we are made of, and they allow for us to grow when we learn the lessons, they send our way and they… can prepare us for other crises down the line and help us to overcome great odds, as evidenced by the next episode of La Brea on NBC. For ‘Don’t Look Up’ saw a unique crisis arrive at the new combined community. Wherein, giant Pterodactyls were attacking at seemingly random intervals and of course… their powerhouse strikes were forcing everyone indoors and into fear because everyone’s safety seemed to be going the wayside. But since crisis has been the brand for the show for some time, and because these incredible individuals have dealt with crises before and have learned how to respond to them in this strange world, they were able to solve the problem at hand. For Scott, and Sam came to recognize there was more to the strange sand formations that these aggressive Avian dinosaurs left behind after an attack, and Scott postulated that perhaps they had chosen the village to breed and were marking territory and making nests. So, if by chance the good people of this village could recreate those formations and quietly move anything deposited in the original ones, such as eggs… perhaps they would find peace, and well… that theory was right, and the plan worked, and peace returned to the village in every way imaginable. For even more minor conflicts and concerns were quelled thanks to everyone pitching in and worrying about the safety of everyone. Hammering home, the positive lesson at hand. But while that alone could have carried this episode, since it was engaging, there were more important moments at play here. For we also spent a fair chunk of time with Ty back at the beginning of this all and well, Ty was making a point to find Sam, and to find Gavin, and assemble his friends well before his past self, met them, in likely an effort to reach the source of this whole mess, Maya Schmidt. Exactly why, Ty hasn’t made clear yet, but obviously… he has a plan, and he is working fast to execute it, and oddly, everyone back in 10,000 B.C. is also working toward finding Maya, putting this story on a fascinating track. One where clearly everyone is ready to work together throughout time to understand Maya’s role in this. But before we ponder upon that matter further, we can celebrate one lovely tale. Because character growth and full circle moments are critical for final seasons to feel complete and worthwhile and well, we got that here. Since everyone was quick to action and if by chance, they needed to resolve something deeper, they did. Just because they now fully understand the benefits of addressing the problem before them, and now that we know that growth is in place, and that this group can handle so much, the time has undoubtedly come to learn more about this Maya and her role in this closing chapter of the story. Until next time. Watch ‘La Brea’
