Written by John Edward BetancourtTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...I think it is safe to say at this point, that it is extremely difficult for television shows to surprise us in this day and age. After all, fandoms everywhere pay incredibly close attention to everything they watch these days, and said fans usually pick up on subtle clues and are easily able to call a particular twist or turn when it is finally revealed on the show in question. But, believe it or not, once in a while, it is still possible for a series to stun us on the fly and well, last night’s episode of Star Trek: Discovery, ‘An Obol for Charon’, just so happened to qualify as that exception to the rule since it outright stunned me with all kinds of pleasant and lovely surprises. Because initially, it seemed as though this particular tale was going to be a continuation of ‘The Search for Spock 1.0’ storyline that’s been brewing all season long since Number One dropped by the Discovery to inform Captain Pike on the progress being made on Enterprise’s repairs before dropping off a little information on Spock’s whereabouts, meaning the crew was headed after this iconic character, and that’s when the surprises started kicking in. Because shortly after setting a course for Spock’s shuttle, the crew found themselves trapped in front of a massive and ancient sphere and it appeared to be conducting an all-out assault on the ship, since systems were beginning to fail on every deck shortly after the sphere answered their hail. Which meant that the ship was mired in chaos for a better part of this episode, with everyone dealing with some kind of crisis, and down in engineering Stamets and Reno and Tilly were having to deal with the surprise resurgence of ‘May’, who latched herself onto Tilly as part of her ongoing efforts to ‘deal with’ Lieutenant Stamets. Because it turns out, that her issues with the Lieutenant come from the fact that Discovery’s jumps are damaging her universe and revenge was seemingly the only way to set her world right again, and despite Stamets best efforts to apologize and close off the ship’s ability to connect to the Mycelial Network, ‘May’ remained defiant and went so far as to kidnap Tilly to who knows where… But truly the centerpiece of the night and the biggest surprises of all in this episode, related to Commander Saru’s storyline, since he became ill shortly before encountering the sphere, and his illness was related to something truly dire. For Saru came to realize he was suffering from Varahai, a syndrome that his people on Kaminar experienced before they met their respective end at the Ba’ul, and now that he was faced with the prospect of death, we saw the character shine like never before. Because Saru pushed himself to new limits to help save the crew from certain doom and well…what made this part of the story and the episode so surprising, is how Saru’s potential demise, ended up providing the audience with moments of incredible beauty. For Saru was quite reflective in this state, and pondered upon his life after leaving Kaminar and all the wonder he had experienced in his travels, and how he came to realize just what Starfleet and the Federation meant to the galaxy, since both offered so many species a chance at something better and as it turns out, he asked Commander Burnham to ensure that his legacy lived on by sharing his story with others and well, that’s when it dawned upon both of them, that the sphere wasn’t trying to harm them…it was trying to share its own story before dying. And after a little back and forth, the crew was able to gather a 100,000 years’ worth of data before this creature passed into the great beyond and Saru was also given a disturbing and bittersweet gift after the crisis came to a close. For what he believed to be his biological end was nothing more than another stage of growth, wherein Kelpians shed their threat ganglia and in turn, their fear and this revelation will likely change Saru’s life in ways he never imagined. If anything, I would venture to say that this was by far, the most Trek oriented episode of Discovery to date since it featured all kinds of powerhouse moments related to everything that the franchise stands for and I really enjoyed this episode through and through. In large part thanks to its positive commentary on immigration and also because, it just ended up being so incredibly uplifting when all is said and done. This really was a story filled to the brim with beautiful moments, and that was quite the unexpected surprise and also, major props need to go to Doug Jones who turned in one hell of a performance in this tale and I am quite curious to see what Saru’s journey is going to look like from here on out, now that he is free of the fear that has controlled him for so long. Until next time.

Written by John Edward Betancourt THIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...We all have certain expectations when it comes to certain types of television shows. We expect our dramas to be powerful, our comedies should be hilarious, and the scary shows should rattle us to our core, and stories that are filled to the brim with action and violence should consistently wow us with both. Those elements matter, because when a show decides to try something outside of its norm, it tends to surprise us and make us uncomfortable because formula and design are safe places for an audience, and well, a quick change up can lead to either brilliance or disaster. For if the show strays too far from its formula, it can lose and anger the audience, but if it is handled right, well…then the audience is privy to something supremely special, and this is on my mind today because Netflix’s The Punisher just so happened to break from the norms of its action and violent-oriented structure in the next episode of the series, ‘One-Eyed Jacks’. Which is interesting to say the least, because this episode had all the makings of an ultra-violent episode since Frank started assembling a scheme to confront the man who seemingly ordered the hit on Amy, but it ended up becoming a different kind of tale. Granted, there was some serious violence at the end of this tale, but it wasn’t gratuitous in the slightest. It was about Frank making a point and using his fury to intimidate his foe into realizing that he was not to be trifled with in the slightest and that the information that Frank asked for should flow and really, seeing Frank take his time and calculate for a change was new for this series, and I truly enjoyed it. Because it means that Frank is starting to grow as a character and become something more and well, I simply eat up any kind of character development and it didn’t end with The Punisher, because we are also seeing Billy grow this season as well, and that’s not necessarily a good thing. Because Billy, is starting to learn how to use his powers of persuasion once again, and man, when it’s being used in concert with anger, that’s really quite the terrifying sight. For in this tale he worked to win over others who are seemingly as shattered as he is, and that can’t equate to anything good and one has to wonder exactly what Billy is planning in that rattled mind of his and I think we can all agree that it’s all bad in the end. However, while I did enjoy watching more intimate moments with the characters, I think what we need to discuss here as well, is the sheer vibe that this episode produced. Because it really feels as though something big is starting to build when it comes to this story, and that’s courtesy of the fact that the Pilgrim has arrived in New York and is working to clean up the mysterious mess that Frank is trying to uncover. If anything, this story felt like the grand setup to a story that is going to take its time in telling its tale and well, that’s what made this one so stunning, the fact that the slow burn approach has come to the Punisher’s world. It’s something you just don’t normally see in stories such as this and I’m excited to see how everything will build up to what I expect to be a powerful crescendo. So, without further ado, I think it’s high time I step away from the keyboard and hit play on my Netflix app to enjoy the next, cerebral chapter in the Punisher’s harrowing saga. Until next time. Written by John Edward Betancourt THIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...I think what I’ve always enjoyed when it comes to watching shows or movies that are based upon comic book characters, is that somewhere along the line, a particular sequel or episode does a fine job of reminding you precisely why you found yourself drawn to the character in the first place. And I make mention of that today, simply due to the fact that the next episode of The Punisher, ‘Scar Tissue’, was able to take my mind down that particular memory lane. For when I first picked up a comic involving Frank Castle’s adventures as The Punisher, I have to admit that I was outright blown away. For I was introduced to a man who was deeply haunted by the demons of his past, and as a middle schooler, I had never seen a story like this before. Nor did I fully understand how people could be impacted by their past in this manner, and all of those elements held my attention and I pressed on, reading more of his adventures as the years rolled on, and what instantly me reminded of the day I picked up that first issue, was the sheer fact that everyone’s respective demons were on display in this tale, and that made for a fascinating story wherein everyone tried to catch their breath unsuccessfully since their harrowing pasts continued to gnaw at their souls. For example, Rachel (or rather, Amy, as she finally revealed in this tale), simply couldn’t shake the horrible moments filled with murder that she left behind before meeting up with Frank and it was fascinating to see her finally reveal her outright fear of what the Pilgrim might have planned for her and the peace that she found in discovering that Frank is the Punisher and that he will in fact protect her at all costs and she wasn’t alone in dealing with fears that were generated by the past. Since Madani took the time to explain how the whole mess from last season left her transformed and jittery and remorseful since neither she nor Frank were able to properly finish the job because of their ties to Billy and well, what I appreciated about this segment of the story, is that it didn’t offer any easy answers or philosophical notions. It was just the characters expressing their pain and emotions in the raw and this extended beyond the good guys. After all, Billy Russo is on the loose and this episode took the time to catch up with him, and the demons swimming around in his head. Because Billy was beginning to put some things together in that mess of a brain, to the point where visited a man that once tormented him as kid. Not for revenge, but to try and gain his identity and memory back by confronting a face from the past and well…this went as poorly as one might expect. For Arthur, the man that haunted Billy in what seems like another lifetime, triggered something in the back of Billy’s mind, prompting him to unleash years of pent up rage and well…what’s scary about this particular moment, is the sheer fact that Billy is slowly starting to recall his past and everything that broke him in life and that makes him supremely dangerous to both Madani and Frank… Either way, this was just another fascinating episode. Because for the first time in the course of the series, Frank faced some real, long-term consequences for his desire to see Billy suffer over anything else and it was fascinating to see his friends point out that Frank’s vendetta may cause more harm than good. But more importantly, it was incredible to see everyone in this episode reflect upon their trauma since traditionally, characters in a hero show shed their pain with minimal effort, so to see lasting damage here adds a devastating sense of realism to this tale, and at this point, I’m quite curious to see how everything is going to come together down the line since there are now two key plot-lines brewing behind the scenes and really, the only way to find out what comes next, is to buckle down and continue along. So, if you’ll excuse, it’s time to hit play on the next episode and see what surprises await me. Until next time. Written by John Edward Betancourt THIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...You know, the more time I’ve had to think about the ‘Pilot’ episode of I Am the Night, the more curious I am about a particular plot thread in that…how exactly are Jay and Fauna going to intersect with one another? Because truly, these two characters come from different lives and different worlds and their lack of any common thread outside of George Hodel should mean that the odds of them ever crossing paths are slim. But clearly this is a question that isn’t just on my mind, because the next episode of this fascinating series, ‘Phenomenon of Interference’, took the time to answer that particular question, and as it turns out, the answer is related to Jay’s outright obsession with the story that got away. For in this particular tale, Jay found himself refreshed and revitalized after receiving that mysterious phone call regarding George Hodel. Because the possibility of outright redemption when it comes to the story that ruined him was quite the powerful draw and he instantly dove himself back into the case, hoping to find Tamar in order to get the truth out of her and exonerate himself and everyone that the article brought down with him. But gentle guidance from his boss seemingly tempered Jay’s hunger to solve the Hodel matter and for a time in this episode, Jay tried to leave the case behind and focus on something new for a change in an effort to jump start his writing career. But a story this big simply cannot remain ignored and it wasn’t long before Jay dug deeper into the matter and found himself rewarded for his troubles. Because a little recreational moment with his favorite vice, led to some serious revelations since he came to understand that Tamar was whisked away to a convent not to join it, but to be kept from the public eye until her baby was born. Which meant that a chance encounter from afar, wherein he saw Fauna speaking with Hodel’s wife, Corrina helped him to realize the fact that Fauna was Tamar’s daughter and she could be the key to blowing this story wide open and that drove Jay to do his best to try and get close to Fauna with little luck. But what matters more when it comes to Jay’s segment in this story, is that we saw some quality character growth and it was delightful to see him try and move forward for a change and that Jay is still a brilliant investigative reporter despite a few setbacks. However, while it was cool to see Jay work a story like a seasoned detective, Fauna’s story was equally as fascinating. Because she took the time to seek out Corrina, in the hopes of learning more about her mother and unfortunately for Fauna, her efforts yielded little results. For Corrina was coy about everything and worked hard to present George and the rest of the family in a positive light and well, it’s inherently clear that Corrina is hiding everything she can from Fauna and will do whatever smoke and mirrors routine is necessary to keep her from the truth. Which means that whatever she is holding onto is something special and likely dangerous, and that was reinforced by the fact that George’s lackey and George himself for that matter, keep toying with Fauna by making themselves known wherever she goes, in the creepiest of fashion of course, in the hopes of reminding her to maintain her distance… When all is said and done however, it’s obvious now that Fauna and Jay are on a collision course at last. Because now that Jay knows that Tamar’s daughter is alive and well, he will do whatever it takes to get into her good graces in order to get the truth to a story that outright eluded him, and it should be interesting to see how these two work together to unravel the mystery of grandpa George and in the end, this was just a magnificent episode through and through. In large part due to the fact that the mystery and intrigue surrounding the Hodel family continues to grow, but also because the acting here continues to sell every single moment since Chris Pine was simply electric in this tale and India Eisley continues to impress and well, I’m proud to admit that I’m completely and utterly hooked on this series and I need more and next Monday, cannot get here soon enough. Until then. Written by John Edward Betancourt THIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...When it comes to mysteries, we expect certain things from the detectives that drive the investigation in question. We need them to be noble at heart and firmly believe that wearing a shield and carrying a badge is part of some higher calling, wherein they fight the fights we cannot, and we also expect them to solve the case and vanquish evil since all of that provides a reader, or a viewer with a grand sense of comfort. But in reality, detectives are like the rest of us. They’re flawed, they have moments of weakness, and sometimes their intentions aren’t noble and sometimes they’re tied to a case so closely that good and evil are blurred to them and this strange duality is on my mind today because both of those elements are present when it comes to this season of True Detective. But last night’s episode of the series, ‘If You Have Ghosts’, decided to up the proverbial ante and dive into the darker side of Detective Hays, after weeks of showing us his more noble side. Because up until this tale, it was all about him controlling his flaws, and working through his fears and darker moments in life. But now, we know exactly what makes this case so important to Wayne in 2015, and why he was so hell bent to solve this case in 1980 and 1990 because the Purcell mess, is about as personal as it gets for Hays, something that is never supposed to happen to a detective, and to make matters worse, we came to learn in this story that Wayne went to some extreme lengths to get results in the case. However, before we dig too deeply into that, we do need to take a moment and discuss the big developments in the case that this episode also revealed to us. For we finally learned that Mister Woodward’s violent outburst, one that cost a lot of people their lives, is what served as the catalyst for him to become the man responsible for Will’s death in the court’s eyes, since Julie’s sweater and Will’s bag were discovered in and around his home, and well…it took ten years for Wayne to realize that those items were planted somewhere along the way. And, to make matters far more interesting, Julie called in to the tip line in 1990 after her dad went on the air to ask for her to come forward and she offered up all kinds of lurid moments revolving around her dad pretending to be her father, her ignorance on what happened to Will and that she needed to be left alone and she also used the word ‘them’ quite often, and really, both of these elements helped to lend credence to the notion that there is some kind of behind the scenes conspiracy going on when it comes to this case… But, while those moments were fascinating and important in their own right, I made mention of this episode exposing more unsavory elements when it comes to Wayne and boy, did we learn some truly fascinating stuff. For starters, the show spent a lot of time exploring the fact that Wayne is in essence, terrified of never being in control. Why exactly, wasn’t pertinent to the story, but the fact that he constantly goes after his wife for trying to do new things in life, and works to buck the system, shows us a man who hates being at the whim of the moment and while that may be related to a sense of inadequacy or a deeper fear of having no value to others, what matters more here is that this fear is what drove Wayne to make some dubious decisions when it comes to this case. For in this tale, we came to learn that eventually Wayne took matters into his own hands in order to get some semblance of justice for the Purcell family since this episode more or less revealed in 2015 that Roland helped Wayne deal with and dispose of Dan O’Brien back in the day and really, Wayne’s quest to solve this case at last goes beyond some noble need to bring the right people to justice. This is about personal retribution, and setting a wrong, or several of them, right before Wayne’s mind slips away forever and well, I simply wasn’t expecting this particular twist in the slightest, but in the end, it makes sense in its own right since Will and Julie found a way to infect Wayne’s family life for decades… If anything, it’s also a welcome twist to see in this particular saga, since the men and women that came before Wayne, had an incredibly strong moral core that centered them when necessary to do the right thing. But here, Wayne has in essence stumbled over himself by letting his anger and disgust with what he finds in 1990 take precedence over anything else in his life and I love the fact that this is now a race against time to not only put old ghosts that haunt Wayne to rest, but to give him absolution and penance for his own crimes and now I cannot wait to tune in to discover what Wayne did to put skeletons in his closet, and to find out as to whether or not he can in fact save his soul in the weeks to come. Until next time. Written by John Edward Betancourt THIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...Over the past few weeks, we’ve been treated to quite the inside look when it comes to the animal kingdom by way of BBC America’s fantastic new series Dynasties, and thus far what we’ve learned is that the natural world can be quite cruel. For the first couple of episodes in this phenomenal documentary have shown us some supremely harrowing moments involving the Lion and the Chimpanzee as they worked to see their family lines survive. And as I settled in to watch the next chapter of this beautiful series, ‘Tiger’, I have to admit that I was quite curious as to whether or not we would see these majestic felines receive a bit of a break when it comes to their daily strife. Which is not meant to be a knock on the show by any means, because I truly do praise the fact that this series is showing nature in its rawest state. But hey, it would be nice to see at least one of these species have a little less of a burden to bear, and as fate would have it, the Tiger in question in this particular tale, Raj Behra, seemingly had less troubles to endure than some of the other animals we’ve seen thus far. Part of that may be attributed to the fact that Raj and her family of cubs just so happen to live in the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve in India, a place that Raj and 84 others of her kind call home and being in a place such as this, with far less natural threats present in her world, allowed for us to bear witness to the fascinating family dynamic of these proud felines. For over the course of the hour, we watched Raj raise her young, and saw her work hard to ensure their survival, since she was constantly on the hunt for food for them and patrolling the perimeter to make sure that her babies were kept safe from other tigers that might wish to harm them. And as they grew older, we saw her gently nudge them toward learning how to fend for themselves, and honestly, this was just fascinating and beautiful to watch. For not only were her cubs, heart-meltingly cute, it was simply incredible to watch how she reared her young and how she trained them to make use of their natural instincts, and I truly learned a lot about the tiger and how they learn to hunt during this segment of the story. Yet while this particular tale offered up plenty of cheerful moments, there were still roadblocks for Raj and her family to overcome. Because unfortunately for Raj, she was unable to properly balance her time between raising a family and patrolling the perimeter and that eventually led to an unfortunate confrontation, one that badly wounded her and prevented her from feeding her family. And this setback sent her daughter out into the world on her own to look for food, and she was never to be seen again and eventually, it prompted Raj to travel out into the domain of mankind, which is never a good idea for a wild animal, but thanks to the right people, she was quietly returned to her home, where she could once more keep a watchful eye on her nearly grown sons. If anything, what I am truly coming to enjoy about this particular series, is the sheer fact that every single episode is offering something different. No two stories are the same, and every journey brings something special to the table and this, was just a beautiful tale of a loving mother who did everything and anything for her children and it was truly magical to learn that the tiger, a species that is often portrayed in popular media as fierce and cunning and bloodthirsty, can be so gentle and loving and protective. And, once again I am left wanting more when it comes to this majestic series and it’s back to counting down the minutes until next Saturday when Dynasties provides us with another fascinating look into family life in the animal kingdom. Until then. Written by John Edward BetancourtTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...One thing that I noticed was a staple for season one of Star Trek: Discovery, is that the series often found a way to pack in storyline after storyline into a single episode, which quite frankly, is no easy feat. Because it takes some serious work on a writer’s part to blend together multiple tales into a single story, but the writers of this saga found a way to master this jam-packed style of storytelling. Yet oddly enough, it’s something that quite frankly, has been missing from season two of this show. That’s not an insult or a knock on the series by any means, simply because it is inherently clear that Discovery is working toward providing its fans with a different experience this year. But I was quite curious as to whether or not we’d see that particular type of storytelling return and well, it would seem that the Writer’s Room of this series truly enjoyed and missed this particular challenge since last night’s episode of the show, ‘Point of Light’, was filled to the brim with all kinds of storylines spanning vast swaths of the galaxy since it provided us with an update on Spock, followed up with Ensign Tilly’s imaginary friend and it also allowed for us catch up with Chancellor L’Rell and Voq/Tyler on Qo’nos. Which is a lot to recap and digest, and perhaps the best place to start is Ensign Tilly’s storyline, simply due to the fact that I made in error when discussing the mystery phantom that appeared to her in last week’s episode. Because I put it forth that she was interacting with a Red Angel, when in fact it turns out that ‘May’ was something far different than a celestial deity. Instead she related to the spore that joined with Tilly in the Mirror Universe, and the dark matter that Tilly knocked the Ensign around gave the spore new life as a pseudo parasite and she has an agenda that involves Lieutenant Stamets and it was nice that this episode gave us a straight answer as to what was happening to Tilly. As for Burnham, well, her mother came aboard the Discovery to inform her and Captain Pike that she wasn’t allowed to see Spock when she went to visit him, prompting her to believe something was up and well…she was right. Because a little pressing from the captain revealed that Spock apparently snapped during his treatment, and murdered a few people before escaping, something that everyone believed was simply not the case, prompting Burnham to break into Spock’s medical file…and finally have a mostly honest discussion with her mother about how she hurt her foster brother and well, that revelation definitely hurt Amanda as well, prompting her to leave the ship to find her son on her own… But the centerpiece of the night had to be the segment on Qo’Nos, simply due to the fact that it was full of all kinds of surprises. Because L’Rell was struggling to have the other houses rally behind her with Tyler at her side, and thanks to some serious treachery from a member of the High Council, all kinds of secrets were revealed. Like the fact that L’Rell and Voq had a son, and that the house of Kor discovered that Tyler contacted Burnham about the potential trouble brewing on the Klingon home world, and all of this would have likely led to chaos had Emperor Georgiou and Section 31 not intervened. But that assist helped make the Chancellor’s problems go away, which in turn maintained the fragile peace that everyone is currently enjoying and it allowed for Voq’s baby boy to start a new life as a Monk on a far off world, and this little twist also gave Tyler another chance to start over, as a member of Section 31. If anything, it’s inherently obvious that this particular tale was packed to the gills with storylines in order to serve as a transitional/setup episode, since I’m fairly certain all of these plot threads are going to be addressed in the weeks to come, and while these types of episodes honestly tend to annoy or bore me, this one I actually enjoyed. Because it’s a big deal that the spores are evolving, and it’s also important that Burnham right the wrong she’s created when it comes to Spock and her family and well…Section 31 is a fascinating part of Starfleet that hasn’t seen enough screen time, and all of these elements were entertaining to watch and well, I suppose the only thing left to do, is wait patiently, and see how all of this comes together down the line. Until next time. Written by John Edward BetancourtTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...Throughout the course of its proud existence, science fiction has accomplished a great many things storytelling wise. After all, there are few genres out there that are able to explore the human condition the way that sci-fi manages to, but while it does an incredible job of looking at who we are as a species and a society, this genre does have its own respective weaknesses. In fact, if there’s one element of mankind that this genre struggles to explore, it’s love, simply because the complexities of relationships, rarely fit into a story that involves traveling through the stars at speeds beyond our imagination. Granted, that hasn’t stopped some sci-fi stories and shows from trying to dig into this matter, with mixed results of course, and while I fully understand that bigger concepts matter here, I’ve always wondered what a genuine love story would look like in the future or a world where technology and understanding matter above all else and it would seem that I’m not the only one who’s pondered upon such a thing. For last night’s episode of The Orville, ‘A Happy Refrain’, actually took the time to give us a love story set amongst the stars, as we watched Dr. Finn come to realize that she outright had feelings for another member of the crew. Which at first glance seems pretty innocuous, and by the numbers, but this is a series that always goes above and beyond and what made this love story so incredibly fascinating and compelling, is the sheer fact that Dr. Finn came to realize that she was falling for Isaac and falling hard, and that it might behoove her to explore a relationship with him and see exactly where it goes, something that seemed like quite the awful decision when all is said and done. Because let’s be honest, we all know that Isaac is incapable of emotion or feeling, and that he’s all about his own special brand of science, but that didn’t stop the good doctor from giving this her all and well…believe it or not, her decision ended up making for one endearing and beautiful tale. Because Isaac, actually took the time to do this right. He sought out advice from John on how to properly impress Claire and worked hard to make her feel comfortable and desired, even going so far as to add a human avatar to his appearance to prove to the doctor his level of interest and desire to be with her. But while that was sweet in its own right, there was drama to be found in this coupling, since Isaac saw an intimate evening together as the completion of their relationship and well, admitting that sleeping with the doctor for the sake of science brought all kinds of hell down upon Isaac and while it seemed there was no way in the universe’s good graces that this would ever matter to Isaac, a glitch in his programming, one that made him realize he needed Claire in his life, prompted him to apologize and make things right and well…it was the little things about this tale that made it so magnificent in its own right. For this story really took the time to explore the finer points of relationships, and it covered a great many things in this tale since it reminded us of the importance of communication in a relationship, how the small things matter when you’re trying to make your significant other feel special and also how, whether we like it or not, we are definitely going to stumble in matters of love and how we respond to our mistakes is what matters the most. Because setting things right is what really shows a person how much we love them, and how much we want to be with them and really, when all is said and done, I was taken aback by this particular episode and everything that it had to offer because it truly was an intimate affair and there was a genuine innocence to this tale since Isaac had never been down this road before and his attempts to get it right made him supremely relatable since we’ve all been in his shoes at some point another in our lives. Either way, this episode was downright brilliant, and I definitely need to tip my cap to Seth MacFarlane, who wrote and directed this episode, because he truly gave us a magnificent love story in space, one that featured growth and depth and everything in between and of course, some quality laughs as well. Because let’s be honest, the scene when Gordon and John discover that Isaac is taking Claire out on a date, was next level comedy as they raced to tell the rest of the crew and Bortus with a mustache is downright hilarious as well and everything we’ve discussed today just reinforces the fact that making the characters and their development a focus for this season was a wonderful decision to say the least and I really am looking forward to more intimate tales in the weeks to come. Until next time. |
