Written by John Edward BetancourtOf the many, many things that I happen to love Denver Comic Con for, and believe me, that list is long, I've always enjoyed how they cater to generations of fans from every genre and era imaginable. If you need any proof, just think about the guests they bring to the table. Sometimes it's a screen legend, or an iconic artist that transcends years of work like Nichelle Nichols or Allen Bellman. Those are the kinds of names that parents or hardcore fans instantly recognize and are always a quality draw. But the pop culture world is constantly evolving and new stars are emerging in TV and film thanks to incredible performances and DCC always knows these are folks people want to see as well and their latest announcement is proof of that since Robin Lord Taylor is coming to Denver Comic Con 2016. Mister Taylor has quickly become one of the busiest men in Hollywood. He's popped up on The Good Wife, Person of Interest, Law and Order: Special Victims Unit and he even managed to show up a couple of times on The Walking Dead as Sam, a character who met one ugly fate at Terminus. But as of late, Robin has managed to stun us all with his unique take on an iconic DC Comics character by portraying the Penguin on Fox's Gotham. In fact, I think using the word stunning actually does the character an injustice all thanks in part to Robin's incredible work with the character. He has breathed new life into the Penguin, removing the physical deformities we have come to expect, instead focusing on the psyche of one of Batman's greatest foes and man...the end result has been bone chilling to say the least and the good news is, everyone gets the chance to meet him in the Mile High City come next summer and quite frankly, this is one of the biggest announcements DCC has brought forth so far since not only is Robin insanely talented, he's on one of the hottest shows on television. I simply cannot wait to hear what he has to share in his panel and I'd definitely like to shake his hand for his work in making the Penguin one of the creepiest characters out there.

Written by John Edward BetancourtThere is beautiful and enchanting snow covering the ground as everyone heads out and about to find that perfect gift for the Holidays. Yes, that magical time is upon us at last and in true Holiday tradition, Denver Comic Con has decided to spend the month of December showering us with gifts in the form of new guest announcements and they are definitely worthwhile. But before we get to breaking down the latest additions to the Denver Comic Con 2016 roster and as you look over the growing list of amazing guests coming to town, we always take a moment to remind folks to get your tickets as soon as you can since they tend to sell out quickly in this town. And hey, if you're looking for the perfect gift to get for your favorite geek, why not give the gift of DCC Tickets? Just a thought...and without further ado...on to the guests! Clare Kramer You always have to love it when guests return to Denver Comic Con and this round of announcements features a couple of guests heading back to the Mile High City, starting with Clare Kramer. If you're a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer than you're certain to remember her as Glory on the show, but her most recent credits as of late come from Geek Nation, where she produces a bevy of geeky podcasts and TV shows. Clare will also be serving as a Celebrity Guest Panel Moderator and it's going to be awesome having her back in Denver. Garrett Wang The second celebrity returning to Denver Comic Con for another tour of duty just so happens to be a big time fan favorite at conventions because well...his panels are always awesome and because hey...he's a Star Trek legend. I'm talking of course about Ensign Harry Kim himself from Voyager, Garrett Wang, and in addition to entertaining and meeting his fans, Garrett will also serve a a Celebrity Guest Panel Moderator. Chad Hardin For all of you comic book fans, another incredible artist has been announced as well. Chad Hardin will make his way to Denver next summer and if you're a big fan of DC's Harley Quinn comic, this will be your chance to meet one of the artists who brings one of DC's most iconic characters to life. In addition to Harley, Chad is known for working on a ton of comic characters, including Blue Beetle, Zatanna and Warlord just to name a few. Peter David Last and certainly not least, a modern legend in the world of science fiction and comics will be coming to DCC 2016, Peter David. Peter is incredibly well known as an author, in fact I've read and own many of his amazing Star Trek novels, but Peter has also worked in the comic book sector as well. In fact he spent twelve years working on The Incredible Hulk, telling such quality stories that a few awards just happened to come his way. This is a top notch addition to the DCC roster and I guess I need to bring one of my many Star Trek: New Frontier novels for him to sign... |
